  1. Really depends on your throttle cable layout mate. Does it have 2 cables? one for opening and one for closing the throttle? Do you have access to a Haynes manual?......they normally have a good description on adjusting the throttle cable(s). The adjustment will probably vary depending on whether your bike is carb or injected.....so I think you'd be best off finding out the definitive adjustments for your bike.....
  2. Oh yeah.....I think we're still on track for Friday. Going in the car though....as we are complete lightweights.....
  3. Funny thing Jota was last year we prebooked and paid for the parking. We got kicked out of the place at last knockings, had a drink in the bar on the way out, and by the time we got to the carpark to leave everyone had buggered off and the barriers were up......so it wouldn't have cost us a penny......Ho Hum.....
  4. Congrats Seb.......and I hope you can get the bike fixed OK.....
  5. We bought ours from the local bike shop.......not much use to you down there, but if you have a bike shop nearby it may be worth a try.....
  6. If you are trying to start with full choke make sure you don't touch the throttle as Megawatt says.....all you need to do is work out the knack for that bike and you'll be OK......
  7. And I have JUST the right screwdriver for it too Alan.....which probably is medieval....
  8. You hammered a long screwdriver through a filter to remove it Alan?.......I've never done that....often...
  9. A socket set and a torque wrench are very worthwhile investments if you plan on maintaining your bike IMHO......
  10. Hi Harry, when you stopped and pressed the starter button and all you got was a ticking sound were the lights on? This could just be that the battery was not charging and eventually the battery voltage got so low that it wouldn't produce a spark.....and when you stopped and tried to restart the bike there was insufficient power in the battey to spin the starter. Could the engine still be turned over by putting the bike into a high gear and bumping it? If the engine would still turn over I'd be looking at the battery and charging circuit personally. Low oil, although not good, could be just a red herring......
  11. Sorry Alan but I can't help you with the Gite..... But I plan to do the Normandy beaches one day.....so I hope you find somewhere good.....and you can let us know how you get on.....
  12. A man, getting along in years, finds that he is unable to perform sexually. > He goes to his doctor who tries a few things, but nothing seems to work. > > Finally, as a last hope, the doctor refers him to an African medicine man. > > The medicine man says, "I can cure this." > > With that said, he throws a white powder into a flame, and there is a Flash with billowing blue smoke. > > Then he says, "This is powerful healing but you can only use it once a year. All you have to do is say '123,' and it shall rise for as long as you wish!" > > The man then asks, "What happens when it's over, and I don't want to continue?" > > The medicine man replies, "When your partner can take no more sex and is completely raddled, all she has to say is '1234', and it will then go down. But be warned, the pork sword will not rise again for another year.." > > The old gent rushes home, anxious to try out his new powers. That night he showers, shaves and smothers himself in aftershave. > > He slides into bed, cuddles up to his wife, says "123" and suddenly he has the most gigantic stiffie ever, just as the medicine man promised. > > His wife turns over and asks, "What did you say "123" for?!"

    Noise when idling

Yeah....sounds like something is loose on the drive assy. Had something similar when BonnieBird's daughter had her Aprilia scoot......had to keep tightening stuff up on the clutch until the day it died.....
  14. We are obviously expecting to see pics....and then follow the rebuild thread.....
  15. Welcome to the Forum Matt....... I think that OhJay has pretty much covered the test side of things......bet you wished you did it 25yrs ago now.....much less complicated..... Good luck with it anyway......
  16. got my vinyl copy arriving Friday Playing my old 33rpm's lately....... Siouxsie and the banshees - The scream funny how a £300 record player can outperform a £3k cd player Nice one Jota....I'm sure you'll enjoy the new BCC offering..... And a number of years ago valve amps were shunned for shiny new Semiconductor ones....and MOSFET amps were the BIG thing....and now....well all the high-end stuff is valves again.... I've got a couple of little semiconductor amps for my guitars....but my favourite is the valve amp I built a couple of years back.....
  17. Black Country Communion - Afterglow (New album) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnN5XRrxClI If you like old style Rock.......
  18. I guess a lot depends on the category of the write-off....C or D and you should be OK......can't be an A otherwise they'd have to crush it.....so you should be OK. Good luck with it mate......I think for £400 you can't go far wrong.....
  19. Good luck with it then mate......I'm sure you won't regret it once you get your test passed and start looking for "that" bike.....
  20. It could have just been an off day mate.....so I wouldn't worry too much...... Obviously the ideal is to get to the stage where you don't have to think about the controls at all and can just concentrate on the road and all that around you.....but that only comes with practice. And some bikes really need a positive boot to get clean shifts......too gentle and you can hit false neutrals all through the box......another thing that gets rectified with practice..... Keep the faith.....and you'll get your test done no probs......
  21. £800 is a lot of dosh....but consider it an investment towards your future fun...... I think a lot of guys on here have done their DAS and the cost seems to range from £600ish to £800ish....but if you search some of the threads you'll find exact numbers. And just under £30 an hour for instruction and use of their bike I don't think is too bad IMHO.....
  22. Congrats mate....... Nothing wrong with the 125.....ideal for commutes....and you can now trade-up any time you want......
  23. Nice one Dean.....looking forward to seeing how you progress with this mate.....
  24. How about removing the front wheel.....or with a long hefty flat bladed screwdriver try to knock the pads of their backing by gently hammering the f*ck out of them......in a precision sort of way of course......
  25. But get yourself some crash bungs mate........works out cheaper in the end.....
