  1. Had one rupture on a Trophy 900......basically it rotted through as it catches all the cr*p from the front wheel and the bike had been used year round and probably not washed that thoroughly. Anyway, got a used one of eBay and gave it a good treating and Hammeriting before fitting. Been OK since....
  2. Above should be check the clutch basket for notching........damn predictive text!
  3. Did you put new springs in? The springs can go weak with age. Also the friction plates should be soaked in oil for several hours, preferably overnight, before fitting. Did you check the clutch basket for nothing? If the plates are sticking due to notches in the basket you could have this problem.
  4. I downloaded this app to my HTC Desire recently. Cost was around £28. Plus Points: Accurate navigation Able to drag routes to make detours from the suggested routes. Points of interest works well for finding Hotels etc. Has several different modes including Motorcycle and walking. Route planner works pretty well too (just input Cat & Fiddle route for Rally rideout) Speed Camera warning Programmable warning when exceeding speed limit by a set amount (+5mph, +10mph, etc) Junction lane view indicating which lanes you should be in approaching a junction. Live Traffic bar on side of screen indicating if there are any delays in your current route and will reroute you if there is significant delays. Minus Points: Small Screen (but to be fair that is more a function of the phone than the app!) Not too many options for route planning (ie, avoiding motorways, tolls, etc) Some of the automatic route choices are a bit bizzarre particularly if you select Shortest route! (Could take you through the middle of towns rather than around them) Don't work with Tyre (But then again my TomTom Via 130 don't either.... ) I use this in my car all the time as I can play my music on the phone at the same time and use the handsfree when necessary. Apart from the screen size (which I may address in the near future with a Galaxy III when my contract expires) I think this really works well as a Sat Nav. I'm really pleased with it and think that the price is also pretty good compared with buying a dedicated Sat Nav. So, Phone, Sat Nav & Music player all in one device saving cluttering the dashboard with various bits of hardware.....
  5. Yeah....I fitted a Loobman £20.....just put 10W40 oil in it and press the button on the top before riding. Dead easy to fit too as you don't need to run a pipe from the inlet manifold as you do with the Scottoiler.....
  6. Yeah....unfortunately our other tents are too big to go on the bikes otherwise we could have bought them along....
  7. Yeah....don't look like those baffles come out.....but the only time I've ever needed to clean the baffles on a bike was on a 2-stroke.... As others have said it sounds like it could be drawing air into the exhaust around the downpipe/header or further down. Haven't got a hole in the downpipe or silencer anywhere have you?
  8. Dunno if this will fit? http://www.motorcycleproducts.co.uk/cat ... -2511.html
  9. thats what i was thinking to be honest Bob and as i said in my first post on it the charging system looks to be working when tested unless something is breaking down with heat Yeah...I know what you are saying Stu......if the charging circuit is duff you could cook a new battery pretty quick....and as bike batteries are not cheap.....
  10. Yeah.....I think we'll be taking it very easy on Friday night as I need to be OK for the rideout on Saturday. Not going too mad Saturday night either as we've got to head home on Sunday....although we prob don't need to leave until after lunch..... We're taking the bikes.....rain or shine.... Saw a decent tent in a local shop......Vango Beta 250......2-man tent with a big porch bit on the front....£75 which didn't seem too bad for a decent make tent.....
  11. TBH Stu...if the battery voltage drops that quickly when put under load I'd be pretty confident that it's the battery that's duff.....
  12. Hey Ed....when you say that the battery voltage dropped to 11.66v with the ignition nd lights on how quickly did it drop? Just to give you an idea.....when I use TuneECU it has a voltage reading in the bottom left of the screen....the last time i used it the voltage started at 12.3v and dropped to 12.0v after about 5-10mins...and my lights are on all the time. So if your voltage dropped quicker than that I'd say your battery is done. The wires from the generator and the reg/rec will get warm.....but if the battery isn't holding a charge or isn't working optimally the generator is like pouring water into a bucket with a hole in the bottom.....it has to work harder than if it was pouring into a good bucket......strange analagy maybe...but it's just to get the point across....
  13. Splashed out on a Tom-Tom......not the bikey one as it's a silly price.... Any chance of getting the TYRE routes for the rideout sent across please TC? Cheers......
  14. No....quite a lot are still foam filters....and especially if they've been replaced with K&N or Pipercross filters.....
  15. Cool.......I was working on the assumption that this is a 50cc....so the clutch ain't gonna be huge, so the gentle approach would most likely work......bigger bike=bigger clutch...so the more extreme clutch release procedure would probably need to be used......

    leccy fault

He needs to check the voltage at the battery when the engine is running.......he may have a duff stator....or a wiring fault in the charging circuit....
  17. I think a lot of bikes these days have the coils built into the plug cap which are controlled by the ECU......but on a lot of IL4's and IL2's the ignition will spark on the compression and exhaust strokes anyway.
  18. Nice one mate....... You could try putting the bike into gear (without the engine running) and rock it back & forwards with the clutch lever in. But if the plates are really stuck you'll most likely have to strip and separate the plates....
  19. If you got the HT leads in the wrong order it wouldn't start.... I know this from experience.. As the other guys have suggested....try running the bike without the airfilter element......if it runs better you know that you over oiled it....
  20. Not just a loose terminal on the battery is it mate? Are the connection really nice and tight and clean?
  21. Nice one Cat........shame about the rain, but still fun...... Take it you had no probs with the noise limit then?
  22. Sierra Tango......just after he's had a good wash & polish....
  23. Might need a hangover fixing on Sunday Alan....... Good of you to organise this though mate......hopefully there will be a good few peoples that will take advantage of it..... BTW....I DON'T need my baffles removing.....before you start waving that angle grinder around again...
  24. Nope Terry.....we've got our's sorted too..... Take a look at last years pics to see what a bunch of lunatics you'll be spending the weekend with.....
