Rennie & I had a lovely bimble around the Shropshire countryside today, taking in some beautiful scenery and some very 'interesting' roads!! We left Telford & headed through Much Wenlock and on to the pretty town of Church Stretton for some lunch. Visited Carding Mill valley, then headed out of the town & up into the Shropshire Hills onto Long Mynd! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the road up Long Mynd is a single track road climbing to 516m with a 1 in 5 gradient!!! All good fun & plenty of low gear, slow speed riding & hill start practise!! On top of Long Mynd.... If the ride up Long Mynd was slightly nerve-wracking then the ride down the other side was pretty scary!! A 1 in 4 gradient with lots of bends! For those of you who have ridden a YBR & experienced their braking capacity, you'll know what I mean when I say I'm bloody glad there was nothing coming the other way!!!!! Front brake pulled full in & bike not stopping!!!!! Rennie managed to take us back to Shrewsbury via country lanes, through Ratlinghope, Pulverbatch & Longden. Then it was back home through Atcham, past Attingham Park where he put the Fazer through it's paces & waited for me in Wellington to catch up!
