  8. Rennie & I had a lovely bimble around the Shropshire countryside today, taking in some beautiful scenery and some very 'interesting' roads!! We left Telford & headed through Much Wenlock and on to the pretty town of Church Stretton for some lunch. Visited Carding Mill valley, then headed out of the town & up into the Shropshire Hills onto Long Mynd! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the road up Long Mynd is a single track road climbing to 516m with a 1 in 5 gradient!!! All good fun & plenty of low gear, slow speed riding & hill start practise!! On top of Long Mynd.... If the ride up Long Mynd was slightly nerve-wracking then the ride down the other side was pretty scary!! A 1 in 4 gradient with lots of bends! For those of you who have ridden a YBR & experienced their braking capacity, you'll know what I mean when I say I'm bloody glad there was nothing coming the other way!!!!! Front brake pulled full in & bike not stopping!!!!! Rennie managed to take us back to Shrewsbury via country lanes, through Ratlinghope, Pulverbatch & Longden. Then it was back home through Atcham, past Attingham Park where he put the Fazer through it's paces & waited for me in Wellington to catch up!
  9. Rhinestone Cowboy - Glenn Campbell
  10. Congratulations!! It was well worth persevering!!
  11. Well done you!!
  12. Okie dokie - think Roy said something about you lot leaving his at 8.30am, subject to certain people being ready on time!! No way will we be there as early as you - out til late on Sat doing a gig!
  13. Do we have a meeting place/time sorted? Apart from those of you staying at Roy's on Sat night!
  14. That's what I was told on my CBT but I really can't get the hang of doing it like that I've got a YBR and I just hold the bars, cover the brake, lean the bike towards me slightly & push! (and try not to tw*t my shin on the peg! ) I'm very surprised you can't reach the brake Alex I'm just scared that if i reach that little bit further, I will e putting my centre of gravity too far over the ike and it might topple over, if you get what i mean? Yes I get what you mean, which is why I lean the slightly sideways bike towards my body - that should stop the bike toppling the other way. Practise doing it with someone there to catch it in case it drops! Having said all that, I struggle to give the bike a hard enough push if it's on an upwards slope, like our driveway!!

  20. and why not a speedo bike wash???? We could do with something to draw the crowds at the Hull Motor Show! Speedo's & a crash helmet!!!
  21. "Here, here Ruthie - thank you" spoken out loud!! It does take a lot of planning to put on the annual rally & a lot of us are already involved with planning our stand at the Hull Motor Show! I'm not saying don't plan another get-together - it's a good idea. However speaking for myself I'd rather step back from being involved in helping to organise anything else at the moment. But by all means go ahead & get planning - if you need any advice then just ask any of us that organised the rally.
