What about an actual general?

So TC, does your disdain for people who are the first line/triage also extend to the emergency services?

What? :?

I've noticed that you often comment on the ineptitude of those who are the "front line".

Lately you've had pops at the police - beat bobbies and traffic, paramedics, undertakers, GPs etc... and in all cases you apparently had superior knowledge/saved the day.

I can understand your greater knowledge in traffic law but struggle to see the cross over to medicine. In one swipe you're pop-pooing >decade of academic qualifications of the individual and however many decades of research based on your individual experience and a straw poll of a few people you know.

Here's a link to my most recent paper*. It was published in a notable journal, peer reviewed by other experts in the field and has been cited a number of times in subsequent publications. I wouldn't mind if you had a quick skim to check I didn't nause it up though.

*Well the abstract at least, you have to pay $51 to read the whole thing.

Sorry Stu, I am going to let fly.

I had a pop at the Parmaedics and undertakers in respect of one particular incident, and I made it quite clear that I was surprised me as it surprised a lot of people. So, I take it I am not allowed to have a gripe? Or is that reserved only for people like you? Get real!

I have at no time said anything about having superior knowledge, (especially when it comes to medical matters, triage or front line medical treatment) and would never deem to do so (there are others here that like to show that they are the experts and are the only ones allowd to make comment). And quite often I have made it clear that if someone knows better, then please let me know because I am happy to be corrected if I am shown to have got it wrong, and there have been a number of occasions where I have been happy to be corrected.

Traffic cops I think I am entitled to and I have earnt the right to have a pop at them, and I do not recall saying anything about local bobbies other than the fact that when I had a gripe about the paramedics and the undertakers, I said that the local cops were equally disgusted at the stance taken by the said paramedics and undertakers.

As far as GP's are concerned, again, I have mader a comment based on personal experience. I have not made any comment about having better knowledge, I started this thread simply to find out if others had been prescribed this drug and had experienced a similar problem. On top of that my family have had a bad experience of the local GP, but I also said that my treatment when I was admitted was brilliant and beyond reproach and I will be forever grateful to them and I cannot praise them highly enough

But on the other hand, although I don't deal with them personally, I also see a lot of medical negligence cases come in which are dealt with by colleagues who specialise in such matters, and the stories are often harrowing and it appears so easily avoidable.

So before having a pop, get your bloody facts right. I have nothing but respect in the main for all the emergency services having spent 25+ years on the front line myself, having worked with Fire and Ambulance services in some harrowing situations, having spent many an hour in A & E and down the Mortuary working with staff, but of course you don't bother reading those aspects do you?

I have made a few observations on a few issues that have arisen recently or based on first hand experience. They are my opinion and count for nothing.

I find it offensive when a jumped up little shit (well actually a couple of jumped up little shits) tell me what I can make personal observation about and don;t even have the courtesy to read it in the context of what the post was about in the first place. However, it seems that everuyone else can say what they like about whoever they like and that is OK providing it is not me making that comment. :x

Finally, if members here consider me a know it all, judgemental, opinionated and have no interest in any opinion I have and want me to shut up and go away, then I will be happy to do just that. :thumb:

I know that there are others here who have made it clear that they have better knowledge and experience than I do, you clearly have an issue with me (as dows one other individual), so put a case forward to Stu and the moderators to have me removed and I will accept their decision.

In the meantime if you don't like what I say, then hit the ignore button against my name.

I'm not snubbing your personal experiences and certainly wouldn't like to see you leave the forum.

In all fairness, I was a bit harsh - I'm a bit grumpy because my child was squeaking all night and wife has dictated I have to turn down a job I really want to take so I apologise for offending you.

I read your posts and I have no issues with most of them. However, there have been quite a few recently where you've repeatedly bashed people or professions when you admit you aren't qualified. You've also made inflammatory statements and failed to provide evidence to back them up. All that sometimes comes across as aloof and condescending.

I've worked front line too so I know what goes on and is said between the services.

I don't think it's easily possible to square this out on a forum so next time you're doing you're thing in Cambs/Suffolk and I can get away from the family, I'll come along and we can have a chat (friendly, not fisty).

My local GPs are shit as well and the stupid f*cking piece of crap system they put in place for appointments can do one too.

When I had my cornea scratched I decided not to waste a&e time and contact my GP. 4 hours after the issue was raised on their online system, my partner called to find they hadn't even looked at it. We are waiting for a call back to get my toddler checked as they haven't responded and didn't answer the phone.

Southmead hospital and the Emerson's Green center are both fantastic. Southmead A&E is amazing and when I had my hernia done at Emerson's, they where equally amazing.

I think it would be fair to say it GPs weren't so appalling, stresses on A&E would be reduced. People go to where they know they get treated properly....

If your kid hasn't even reached the 18 month mark yet, I can't wait to see your posts at that point. I couldn't tell my arse from my elbow I was so tired at one point.

I'm always watching and modding! Apart from last night when I was out. And in the week when I'm working. And probably the next couple hours as I might go have a nap
