Anyone care to comment on the condition of this clutch based purely on what you can see in this photo?

The friction plates do look worn down but what does a new one look like? And is it just the angle that the photo was taken from?

It's fooked. I'd get rid of that bike if I were you.

Are you having any problems with the clutch at all?


I wouldn't say it was f**ked by the scorching but it's certainly seen better days


If you are experiencing clutch drag then they will be warped or dishes


Warpage is easy to spot dishing is a lot harder

Thanks for all the replies . What you are looking at is my EBC SRK complete clutch kit that has only been in my GSXR 1100 for a year , that is to say two summers . Initially I was in denial because I just couldn't accept that I'd payed £180 for supposedly the top of the EBC range and this has happened. I have not raced , dragged or wheelied the bike and I have not scrimped on oil either . Needless to say I'm baffled and very disappointed.

Over enthusiastic riding, or badly adjusted?


What are the symptoms?

 

Just started slipping under load in 4th and 5th . As soon as I felt it slip I backed off the power so I'm not sure if what you see is the result of slipping or the cause .

Interesting , that all cleaned off easily with a Scotchpad revealing the original silver finish.

I would replace friction plates first before the steels as the steels are pretty robust


Obviously make sure the stack is within tolerance first as the slippage could be an adjustment issue

A free set from EBC would be nice 😊

Now this question is purely based on a google search and not seen proof of it being 100% an issue.


Apparently some ebc kits are specified NOT to use fully synthetic oil so is this something a possibility ?

Slipping clutch = worn - warped plates weak springs or wrong oil, one of them got to be the culprit.

Did you put in the heavy duty springs at same time ?

Or a faulty actuator.

Ebc tech support have asked for pictures. Trying to determine if Mobil power 1 is full or semi .
