So ... I’m stripping the carbs of the Trophy to give them a good clean and maybe some jetting work to suit a freer flowing inlet and exhaust.

Why do we complain that the fixings are made of cheese when they churn up and slip .... only to complain that they are hard as iron when we try and slot them with a junior hacksaw???

Eventually used the Dremel to cut a slot and remove the bast*rd, only 6 more to go.

Here is the recalcitrant bugger - the red stuff started dripping from my finger when the original screwdriver bit slipped !!

And the even bigger brother.

Can't beat a gas axe..... :thumb:

H’mmm

Not sure the carbs would take kindly to that

😂

They chew up because you are probably using the wrong screwdriver

You will need a set of JIS screwdrivers :)

Even though its a brit bike :?

JIS??

I seem to recall something about that ...

Is that because they are Japanese Mikuni carbs?

Is it the same as Posi drive?

No......JIS are the Japanese version of Philips.......but they grip the screw head better...... 8-)

:stupid:

JIS is Japanese Industrial Standard they are very similar but pozi drive will just cam out of the JIS screws where as JIS screwdrivers fit like a glove and they also fit pozi drive

And when you do get them all out nip up to Tool Station and get a bag of M5 x 16 stainless Allen bolts and dip them all in Copper Slip . You know it makes sense. 👍🏻https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Screws+%26+Fixings/d90/Stainless+Steel+Screws/sd810/Stainless+Steel+Socket+Cap+Screw/p29995

Got a set of Halfords Advanced Screwdrivers 1/2 price (£10)

Spoke to the guy at the bike station who knew about JIS ( unlike the people at tool station, screwfix or Machine Mart) and uses them on Shimano gears sets ( they have JIS fixings) what ever they are !!
