Evil little gobshites. Sometimes I wonder if we lost something when we did away with flogging scrotes.

Some little angels, ,who have never done anything wrong, and are perfectly well behaved, if their parents were to be believed, decided that since they couldn't nick my bike, as it had a disk lock on the front and a chain through the back, they would instead kick it over out of spite.

They scarpered in every different direction upon seeing me coming, and more than a few choice phrases were yelled at the top of my lungs.  Only damage done was a bent clutch lever.  Managed to get a new lever, and have it fitted, within an hour of it happening so take that, you delightful little angels!  Your attempts at spiting me are naught but a minor inconvenience that cost me a mere tenner to fix!

I then went to the beach and had coffee to calm me down.

Bendy clutch and beach pictured below.  I'll leave you to figure out which is which.

That's maddening. Glad you got it sorted.

Well done for decent security @ChrisBiggsUK

How nice to pop to the beach.

Without being patronising, "look at you now", wasn't long ago you would only go out before rush hour.

I know!  I can hardly believe it myself.  At this point, there's no stopping me!  Well, at traffic lights there is, but other than that, I'm positively zooming (within the speed limit) all over the place and at all times of the day and night!

I'm still not comfortable enough or confident enough to take my 'big boy' test yet, but am looking to start making moves toward that come Easter time.  If not to actually do the thing, to at least get some one-on-one tuition and get my slowly improving skills honed.

Amazed it didn’t snap well before that angle!

At least you got there early enough so it was just a lever and nothing else got damaged as I’m sure the DMFs would have tried many other methods of scumbagness which may have worked but only out of luck.

i would have  involved them with the beach, mainly them being in it

When I was doing my CBT it was a tossup between Hotwheelz and Wallasey Motorcycles.  Wallasey Motorcycles got back to me, so I went with them for my CBT.  Given that I already have a relationship with them, and their instructor knows me, how I ride, personality etc, I'll probably stick with them for doing my big boy license, but if scheduling doesn't work out for whatever reason, it is good to know that Hotwheelz is recommended.  I'll keep them as my go-to backup.

Then put it outside your house and hang a scrote from it when they get within grabbing range (recipe for tar and feather available online).

Cheers

That is...  A rather good idea!

I think I have found a little project to do at the weekend now.

Spent 2 hours washing the bloody salt and shite off and applying XCP. Totally filthy with that slimy road grime you get at this time of year. It'll be filthy again on Friday as I've got to go up to Brum. Maybe I'll swing by the Piston Club for lunch on way home so some consolation. Then wash it again over weekend. Joy.

Fitted a waterproof Optimate fly lead to the battery of the KTM so the seat doesn’t need to be unbolted every time it needs doing, which is all the bloody time this time of year coz it lives outside under a cover & the battery is the size of a fag packet.

10 minute job turned into an hour coz the positive battery bolt pinged out of sight into the far recesses of the bike and needed stuff removing and refitting to retrieve it, my hands are bloody freezing 🥶

OK, it's German, but, two months under the covers, 18 years young, and with my best efforts at flattening the battery, started on the button, lights, fan, electrics, brakes (may need a proper strip and refurb) all works,

Tiz an appy day

We've all been there! If you don't already have one, these are fantastic : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006920221435.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.41.791f1802Tv0gTo

Thanks, I’ve got something similar but I’d got no idea where it went, and when I found it it was apparent that there would have been no chance of fishing it out

When things do that on my bike there's a tendency for them to bounce into the drain and be lost forever. Cue much cursing. However I can learn so now cover the drain when doing any fiddly bits.

I put a old picnic blanket down so they don’t bounce.

I have in the past stuffed old rags into the bike  around the area I’m working, just in case, why didn’t I this time? Fcuk knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am guessing you have had a poke about with a telescopic magnet, they have saved me a few times!

Yep, but to no avail

I did that once, I never found it named bike to.

Just reused a bolt from an old battery 🤷

Good on you for tracking it down.

I owned two of them before my K13S, never let me down. I had the troublesome ABS servo bypassed on both of them, the conventional brakes worked better for me. On the second one, I had the clutch modified by John Sykes which was a massive improvement and had a Dynojet PC fitted which smoothed things out a lot. In a way they were both more exciting to ride than my K13 as they felt more 'raw'. Looking at forums I'm not the only one to say that. Beast of an engine. I sold the last one to buy a Triumph Sprint ST1050, something I regret to this day. Should have kept it, there was nowt wrong with it.

Some interesting parallels in our bike worlds Rob, I have had the ABS bi-passed on my K1200s, so many problems reported on the forum, i chose to get rid before it decided to, way to many fast twisties uo eer, not comfortable the soles of my boots would hold out!

I also had a ST1050s, i have owned quite a Triumphs  back in the day, and learned to love the quirky stuff, not  so with the ST, build quality was very poor, mono shock rusting inside 4 months, even with the dealer Jack Lillie in the ring with me, Triumph fought tooth and nail to avoid warranty replacement, we did win in the end, took what felt like  8 rounds! Also, arguably one of the most uncomfortable seat my butt has ever experienced, enough said.

I kinda know most of the quirky stuff on my K1200, and we get on well enough, a tad heavy to push round, but,  I do love that raw grunt it kicks out, very planted and predictable on the bendy bits.

Have fun

Just re insured little Yeller with Devitt, for the princely sum of £65 fully comp.  Of course, no tax or MOT required.
