Mississippi Bullfrog Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Florence! This is not the Magic Roundabout. Mind you Dynax and Dylan seem not too far distant from each other. Quote
Bender Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 dynax do we change your name to florider now or when it's running Quote
Tiggie Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 You put it in the hallway @dynax? Holy shit......most of us here would get hell on earth if we did that!Even more so with the state on that thing! I recently hid my lawnmower under a sheet in the dining room for about a week and it lay undiscovered All week I kept expecting to hear my name being shouted but it never happened Quote
Guest Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 the more I look at it the more I quite like it. Looks like a nice pootle down the shops kind of thing. In fact pootle is a good name for it. Like the flump. Quote

Ian Frog Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Looking at the thing the engine reminds me of a copy of an early Bantam and the frame and running gear from a Puch Maxi lol.I am sure dynax is going to have a lot of fun with this.CheersIan Quote

Maybe Dynax should change his user name to Zebedee. Mind you with Bridget and Xena(!) in the shed as well he's probably lost to all propriety. Quote

dynax Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 We have spark and working throttle the spark plug that was in is shagged but is different from the recommended one, the one that was in is a NGK b7HS10 but the recommeneded one from a search is a b5hs---, can't be sure the one that was in actually ran with it, so would it be best to get the b5hs or should i just get the b7hs10, cheers Quote
Tiggie Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I'd veer towards the recommended one. Probably someone had to change spark at some point and that was all they had laying around Quote
dynax Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 I'd veer towards the recommended one. Probably someone had to change spark at some point and that was all they had laying around Thanks Tiggie that was my thought too but can't find anything other than a b5hs no other numbers come up like 7 or 8 or 9 as i believe these are for a heat range on the plug maybe a 9 might be a suitable option ? Tiggie Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Actually that reminds me of one of my first cars. I decided to change spark plugs, bought the correct ones for the car but after taking the old ones out I noticed they were shorter than the new. I double and triple checked online before installing! That was a very tense time on first start up, I was really expecting to hear a clang Quote
Tiggie Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 as long as its similar it should be ok, just not too long!! Quote
Six30 Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 i think these restoration posts should be done with video updates and commentary, much more interesting and you get the feeling your actually there and more involved ...go for it dynax Quote
dynax Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 as long as its similar it should be ok, just not too long!! Both types are 12.7 mm long and 14mm thread, just looking on ebay now so will get a couple ordered Quote

Tiggie Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 dynax I was just looking on ngk and was about to tell you the same!! the only difference is a miniscule amount in the gap so i'd say its fine (0.9mm vs 1mm) Quote

dynax Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 Just ordered a couple of sparkplugs and they also fit the Puch maxi which makes sense as they are both similar spec engines Quote
dynax Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 We also have lights, geez i am fooked, managed to hand crank the pedals and generated some leccy to briefly make the bulb glow dimly, but it works that is the main thing i really hope getting it registered will be plain sailing as it won't be too long before it will be useable, wheels and brakes next me thinks while waiting for engine parts Quote
dynax Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Nothing to report except that i have found a company that specialises in vintage mopeds and found some nice whitewall tyres, also i have decided not to touch the frame too much just a clean and some rust prevention stuff, as i think with the wheels cleaned up these tyres would look well, also have read that using boiled linseed oil is a good coating to preserve the patina, will be taking the front wheel of today and see how we go on cleaning and polishing it Quote
