Beans Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Are 90° tyre valves something that your bike comes with as part of the wheel, or something that you can have added by the tyre fitter? Quote
S-Westerly Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 For some reason my bike came with a standard one on the back tyre but a 90 degree one on the front. Quote
husoi Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Usually it's a fitting that you put in when you need to check the pressure and remove when you're done.It costs around a couple quid depending on where you get them but Ebay will have it.There are valves that are at angle but you need them fitted professionally because it will affect the balancing of the wheel. manxie49 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I have valve extenders that I fit for when I check tyre pressures, I considered having permanent valves fitted to the wheel but was advised against it, although small they do affect the balance of the wheel apparently....All I wanted was to make it easier to get to the valve for pressure checking, so valve extenders work perfectly for me. Guest Swagman Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 My daughters Triumph 765 was fitted from factory. Quote
fastbob Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 There are various types . Some are designed for permanent fitting and some should be kept under the seat and fitted when you need air . Those crude 90% brass ones should not be left on the bike because of the strain they could place on rubber stemmed valves and It has always annoyed me that they are often sold in pairs on eBay . Of course , if you have a well designed bike such as a Harley Davidson , the valve comes out of the side of the wheel anyway . Quote
Marino Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 My came with both sideways, but on my previous bikes I did install them by myself, also in different colours Quote
rennie Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 The vfr has 90 degree valves on both wheels, haven't used them yet Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 On the F800 GT the valve is built into one of the alloy spokes, so is automatically at a ninety degree angle. Clever, but I looked around the circumference of the wheel three times I went to check the pressures trying to find it, before eventually realising its true location. Quote
M620 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 For some reason my bike came with a standard one on the back tyre but a 90 degree one on the front. My Ducati is the same - just thought someone had changed the front when it got new tyres - maybe not then Quote
S-Westerly Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I've had mine from new so I reckon it's standard. Quote
husoi Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 If you're changing them maybe you want to consider the TPMS inner valves as add-on Quote

S-Westerly Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 That's probably why. I'd never really thought about it, it's just the way it was with the bike so it never really registered why at all. Quote
