Ainzley91 Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 (edited) Morning all, recently passed my full bike test, did my lessons on a CB650R and MT07. Got along with the CB650R so went into Honda and they’ve got a CBR650R, 9 months old, 15 miles and quick shifter for £1k less than a new standard bike so effectively saving £1400 from new. so I test rode the demo CBR650R they’ve got in yesterday for an hour and I could feel the seating position differs slightly to the CB650R assume with it being a sports bike as opposed to a naked/street/urban. Today I’ve woke up (also in the night) with a bad back. Do you reckon this is linked to being a sports bike? If so I’m going to have to look at totally different bikes as I was looking at ZX6, R6 and CBR600RR.. cheers Edited August 2, 2022 by Ainzley91 Quote
Stu Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 It could be linked to the bike but you ould have also slept funny! It really is hard to say to be honest Quote

It really is hard to say to be honest I thought that it could be the way I slept but I used to ride my push bike with a seating position that didn’t suit me and after being on that for an hour or 2 would end up with a bad back, once I adjusted the seating and handlebars I no longer suffer after being on the bike. I don’t want to be spending £1000s on a bike on finance and be stuck with it for 3 years and barely riding it. I did enjoy the ride and the bike, just not the bad back. Quote
Troy Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I had back pain to start with. Then the next time I rode my machine, it didn’t occur and hasn’t since. Just a possibility your body maybe using muscle groups it isn’t used too. 2 Quote
MikeHorton Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Id say the same as @Troyit is the case you are using muscles differently but in short could be anything. Quote
Ainzley91 Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Thanks for the reply’s.. fingers crossed its muscles getting used to it then. Quote
Stu Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Might be worth looking at some back exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles Even if its not the bike it can't hurt to do them Quote
Mick67 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 You could try another test ride and see if you get it again and try your best to be relaxed as you may have been tensing up a bit when riding which will add to things. 1 Quote
manxie49 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I did a ride down to Leicester on the S1000RR, my back was in bits afterwards, "probably an age thing", with me anyway, plus years of abuse as far as my back goes, with work. I went to a physio who gave me some core stability exercises, they worked a treat. You can find them on you tube. Give it a go, can't hurt......But as others have said, it could be anything, or a culmination of several things. Trial and error and consider some professional advice if it continues Quote
onesea Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Sadly most back problems are caused by “over doing” it lifting etc or sitting in a bad posture. Aslo worth watching for drafts etc of a night they can make a big difference. However generally the best advice for getting rid of a bad back (or syatic pain) is to do gentle exercises for your back to strengthen it. So that way your less likely to “over do” it. Quote
bonio Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Do another test ride ask to take it out for the afternoon. Better that than buy a bike that's not going to work out for you. Quote
Ainzley91 Posted August 10, 2022 Author Posted August 10, 2022 (edited) Update: I didn’t end up buying the bike, when I first went in to view bikes i was told it just come in, it’s going to cost £7300. At the test ride they told me £7500 then when come to purchase was told £7700 because they’d compared it to others online so in the end I gave it a miss. still looking for a bike. That would do it for me as well... I would also be shopping elsewhere in future. 3 Quote
