Same article as in Telegraph. The benefits were supposedly for their numerous children. As the amount being paid was stated as such as part of the trial proceedings it is probably accurate.

The reason Albanians are heading here is because we have been advertising for them to come.

broadcasting that there is a massive labour shortage. as well as a failed system that means once they are in the country they are here to stay. that's hardly a secret. is it?

many europeans are heading home because the standard of living is lower here than the country they left. this isn't the case (yet) for Albania.

also.. they must know that the black economy here is just fantastic. so much work and cash in hand.. no pesky taxes to pay.

and so they come.

and.. I wouldn't believe a single word printed in The Sun.

84k a year and paying 1600 a month mortgage care of the tax payers.

When a friend of mine got into trouble with 2 kids he couldn't even get help with the interest payments on his.

well.. its your choice to read propaganda mills that do not have your best interests in mind. who just want to create problems. far be it from me to dissuade you from that.

I do wonder why these threads keep on appearing on a motorcycle forum. its getting a bit too much like facebook.

and there you go.. proving my point.

im not going to bother with these types of threads any more... waste of time and (I believe) destructive to a forum that I rather enjoy.

Any who, for those not trusting of the press, here's the police take on it.

No mention of £7,000 a month benefits in the police account!

Snippet from a foreign news outlet, I'm beginning to think folk think the 7k is made up

Judge Stephen Mooney told the Lewes Crown Court how Bennett and Brogan had "frittered away £7,000 a month which should have been spent on the children." The couple would have been receiving £84,000 (~$96,000) in benefits per annum. "It is impossible for any person to comprehend the enormity of your failings," the judge said, adding, "Whatever was going on in their relationship, they should have been looking after those children. How do you have 35 dogs, £7,000 in benefits, how is this allowed to happen?"

I find the daily sport is the best for fact finding. There was an article in there once about some guy who alleged nik naks turned his bellend orange! Ipso facto.

I guess if you stuck it in the packet it's inevitable.

Very light sentence as well... No responsibility to pay back anything.

The issue with benefits is that it's become very political to discuss. Any disparagement or support can lead to assumptions that you're some hardcore left/right wing fruitcake. Which makes openly discussing it, and finding solutions to problems difficult.

My gf has family in the Isle of Wight, and she's often complaining about some of her friends there. Who never really worked, got pregnant, had 2 or 3 kids, and end up with a house, car, and have no desire to ever work. And I wish I could say it's just one, but it seems to be half her friend group down there. It bothers me as we are both feeling overworked, all with the ambition of house, a couple of kids, and enough left over to do the odd holiday. As far as I can see, this isn't an abuse of the system, which makes me think the system is broken. And needs a better brain than mine to figure it out.

I don't think there was any question raised with regards any money claimed being a scam, so if that was a legitimate clame that's the equivalent of a working couple on over 100k a year.

Ive lived in a street where pretty much most of it were claiming and unfortunately there are plenty like it.
