Hardknott Pass, two up.

One off the bouquet list.

Wasn't that a bit slidey today?

Tomorrow is forecast to rain.  For once this pleases me as the CBF is covered in salt so a good wet ride will wash it off.

Mission accomplished.

A 160 km round trip through the back roads of southern Brittany to the neat little seaside resort of Penlan.  weather mostly sunny. mild, 14C with a 15km westerly breeze. Roads quiet to the point of being deserted almost.  The weather was good enough to allow a bunch of young women to go swimming in the sea.

Certainly not Troon !

I decided against photographing the girls swimming because I have a feeling that it wouldn't be socially acceptable now .

These are the times we live in...

Having fitted my new touring screen, I just had to go for a ride.

Probably the most sensible 90 minute ride I've had in a very long time.

Unlike previous attempts, I took the road to Bury St. Edmunds, and it was actually open all the way.

Did about sixty miles, I thought I was clever going at lunch time, it was nice and sunny, a bit windy but really quite warm (12degrees) and I got sweaty hands at one point. I wasn't clever though, I had the hazy sun in my eyes for about half the ride, and the rest was mostly spent sitting behind lorries unable to pass.

Still, it wasn't a bad ride at all, I've brimmed the tank to the filler neck, and she'll be parked up for some time whilst I strip the fairings off to change the fairing bracket.

I'm hoping the fairing bracket is bent, because the fairing is certainly off to one side. I managed to get a brand new bracket from Fowlers at half the price of buying (a probably bent) one from the breakers.

She's so darned gorgeous for an old gal....

The new screen definitely makes it look a bit boring and "blobby" though.

I thought you'd all like to see my pussy too.

@Simon Davey Head south, young man. That's where all the decent roads are from you. Or come out in my direction, but you have to get to Glemsford before it's much fun. But you know this already, you just wanted some experience of riding in traffic. Oddly enough, I was out today too, first time for a few weeks: I met up with EssexBoy for a quick ride followed by a coffee at a place outside Sax.

You're right, I should venture further afield, but I'm so limited by time.

Next time I'll head to Dunmow, that'll take me through Finchingfield etc.

Sadly I had to abandon using the bike last night on account of the lane to our house being flooded. I don't mind riding in rain but I'm not risking falling down the umpteen potholes when they are under deep water.

Had little ride out through the fens yesterday, roads dried out nicely, but had to slow down a few times as the wind was chucking me about, first experience of that type of riding, the winter gear is fabulous accept nobody warned me how much more difficult it is to mount and dismount with so many layers on, thought I might have to start exercising to limber up, scratched that, and enjoyed a galaxy bar instead

Sounds like fun!

I had a similar ride on Monday, it was the oncoming lorries that were scary, as they went past it was like being hit with a wind version of a tidal wave.

I try to get on the bike in winter gear when nobody is watching.

Forecast said dry so I took to the single track back road loop around western Kintyre looking across to Jura and Islay. These ADV350s perfect for the twisty, hilly, single track where benefits of auto best seen.

Back to my desk now.......

@ballibeg

I'm insanely jealous in some ways, that looks like an amazing place to ride around.

Smart bike too, and love the picture with the bike under the rainbow.

In other ways, I couldn't deal with the Scottish weather.

Rode it to Sportsbikeshop, bought some Richa Andorra boots, rode home. Now I have boots that will be comfortable if I have a stop and a walk.

Breakfast at The Old Stores. A mornings ride into Wales and back. A few bikes out today. The Old Stores is well worth a visit, plenty of memorabilia and a decent mug of tea and a bacon bap (barm/roll/cob or whatever you call it)

Also got out today for a quick blast. Not much traffic, dry roads and great weather :classic_biggrin:

First time I felt up to riding since flu visited us a couple of weeks ago.

What's with the lifeboat on the back?.......

(to be honest, that's exactly what I've been looking at)

Took the bike for a spin. Had to be at an early 0830 appointment. On the way out the weather was promising. An hour later it was back to the dismal shite we've been cursed with for the last week. Drizzle and mist. Got home and the poor bike looked as if I'd been mud-plugging. I am so cheesed off with this. Apparently it is going to be be blown away by gale force winds but heavy rain too. Bollocks.
