Always have a tie wrap on as a guide and it doesnt sit too bad but Ive not fully loaded it but have braked hard ish. I think on these bottom out is 20mm so you want to be 20 mm above that at worst. im going out today so going to had a small amount of preload and a 1/4 turn of compression.
Just remember the aim isn't to test it at hard braking it's should all be measured on normal riding for yourself

The dive isn't always down to preload!
It will be on the compression damping! it needs to slow things down a bit so it doesn't dive as quick
If you wind all the damping off then the spring will just bounce about like a pogo stick as they say!
There will be nothing to slow it down and stabilise it
You set the sag then you use the rebound and compression adjusters to get the ride you require

I have one of these
It is the smallest inflator I have found!
I also have a stop and go plug kit I carry with me
Even though the inflator is small its not small enough for under the seat as there is too much under there already
Was OK under the seat on the FJR though

I would have a look in the handbook and put the suspension back to factory settings.
It may already be at factory settings but at least you’ll know and you can then take it from there.
Look into setting your static sag up after that. Loads of info online.
Once you’ve got that set up just change one thing at a time.Go to extremes fist off and see if you can work out what the change made the bike do.
Suspension is a black art but it’s fun learning what each adjustment does.
This is the way to go and make a note of each change and what it did and how the bike felt so you can go back

mine is just below my line of sight, I shudder at the idea of having it placed below the instruments or over by the mirror stem!!Mine used to be mounted on the top yolk on the FJR and it was a nightmare!
Quick glance down and it could be game over as its not always a quick glance due to the position

well thats a huge bonus.
can it be adjusted so the lever a little lower, assuming this is now in control of that
Sorry forgot to answer that bit
You should be able to adjust it as normal with the connecting rod from the gear lever to the selector shaft

Sorry @Ian Frog I have the garmin zumo xt not the Tomtom
If it helps that xt can show you a banner on screen when riding along whether you are navigating or not

Its a quick shifter
Ride the bike and while you have the power on without reducing the throttle just change gear
It will cut the ignition and allow a gear change then be back on power again
they work really well but can take a little to get used to

You passed your driving test on or after 1 February 2001
You’ll get a full moped licence if you either:
- pass your car driving test and then complete a compulsory basic training (CBT) course
- complete a CBT course and then pass your car driving test within two years
You can then ride a moped (up to 50cc) without L plates. You do not need to take the full moped test.
You can ride mopeds for as long as your car driving licence lasts.
I stand corrected!
Is this a recent change as I'm pretty sure it never used to be like that!

As above
The clicking is the starter relay due to not having enough power to start the bike
Charge the battery
as for the burning smell it might just be because the exhaust is new
