Having looked again, I couldn't see what the safety rating was, is it A, AA or AAA ? Under the latest legislation unless it has a safety rating it should not be sold as a Motorcycle Jacket.

You can connect to either, chassis or negative terminal. Sometimes it may be easier to connect to the chassis if there is limited access. -

Roadcraft is the most boring book I have ever read and it treats the readers as though they are complete idiots. Having said that, there is some very good content. -
I've had Stainless bolts from Pro-Bolt holding my calipers on for 6/7 years and have covered 50 + thousands miles. I'm not trying to get anyone to change what they do I'm just giving my experience. I use aluminium antiseize on them to prevent any galvanic corrosion.

They don't use comms for a reason, it's to keep you aware of your surroundings and make sure you are paying attention. -
It certainly doesn't look right, but if you are sure it's fully seated then install and see what it's like when everything is bolted back together. If it's not right then you'll have to take it apart again
