  1. Must have shaken you all up @Richzx6r with the young'un in the car
  2. He needs to slow down a bit - still at work here! Hope to finish before the reindeer arrive.
  3. I think the error has come from a misreading of this chart, showing prison population per 100,000, from statista.com: which puts Anguilla in 20th place and adds (United Kingdom) as it's a UK colony. This chart was for June 2020. The UK reported 79865 prisoners in June 2020 (down from 84000 in pre-covid February*) which equates to an estimated 118 per 100,000. *https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/prison-population-figures-2020
  4. @Fish My guess is it means this: You're insured during your test. You're also insured afterwards if you pass. Problem is that people can't write clearly. But they realised they'd made a mess of the sentence, and so they had another go, adding "You are not covered to ride home if you have failed your test." in the hope that this would clear up the confusion they'd created
  5. Kind of you, Rant. Owe you a beer
  6. oooo slagroom.... :win
  7. Ta for that; sounds like a useful tip I've some heated inner gloves. Don't really them cos they're so bulky.
  8. Hotel Huberty
  9. You're about 3 bikes too late too
  10. I've grown very tired of the doorstep proselytizers. I used to get some fun out them, mainly because it's so easy to run rings round their emaciated theology, but the sport of taking their ludicrous cartoon of God and finding in it an object for disbelief - it becomes a bit samey. Reminds me of "Lake Woebegone, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average. Everyone there is Lutheran. Even the atheists are Lutheran. It is a Lutheran God they don’t believe in."
  11. Never, ever on a pizza. Not ever.
  12. @RantMachine Oh, and sorry to hear things have "gone south" .
  13. Why not try for the work visa anyway? It doesn't stop you returning to England; it just allows you to do so at a time that suits you. Or would the workplace ask for a commitment for you to stay on for a few years?
  14. Nice ride out today. No wait, wrong thread. This is the thread for random crap. And pineapples. Bought a pineapple today.

    Cutting out

The sediment might have come from the tank. When you get a chance, might be an idea to drain it out.
  16. This is the Best. Thread. Yet.
  17. What @TimR is saying is right.... in theory. I've heard of people trying to do, but no-one who has succeeded, because it's so difficult to set up the insurance, the transport, and to find a way to practice on the bigger bike without using the public roads (cos you're only allowed to ride on the road with an instructor). So what @dynax is saying is the real right answer. You go to a school, get a couple of lessons if you want, and get them to book you in to do the tests. All on their bike.
  18. Squishy here too. Windows laptop.
  19. Portuguese, my arse.
  20. I didn't think the police had the authority to put up repeaters on local roads; I thought it was the district council (or its equivalent) who has the say so?
  21. You're right. It's really odd, given that static cameras are stuck up on poles and painted day-glo yellow, the reason, the police argue, is to get you to slow down when you see them. If they hid them behind rocks like they do in France, or painted camo green like in Germany, then this would at least be consistent with the idea of them being cash cows. As it is, it's not very joined up. I wonder if its a legacy of when there were cameras everywhere regardless of safety concerns.
  22. It also says "Whilst there is no specific requirement to provide repeater signs, it is for the traffic authority to determine how many are required and where they are placed." In other words, repeater signs are now more or less optional. The default position is that they're not mandated, but the "traffic authority" can overrule this. But if the "traffic authority" in your village is the local council, they're unlikely to want to incur the additional cost.
