Haha you're welcome! Been running redex through for a couple of months which seems to have fixed some issues. .. only backfires when it's really cold now! It also has a stupidly high idle from cold on the choke (will be fine at 1500 for about 20 seconds then shoots up to 3000 turn choke down slightly and it's fine...) Although on the way home there was a clunking sound... had a check round and nothing obvious but I may be starting a new thread soon!
  2. Most places will do a free assessment to see what you need. Sucks your confidence has been shaken, hopefully it will come back and we will be hearing how you've aced your tests later in the year
  3. Good news Paul, I've checked the book and that one's OK too
  4. Ouch landing on an elbow sounds painful Have you thought about maybe calling a local training centre and seeing about an hour or so ride about with an instructor? I know where I did mine they advertised taking people out if you'd just changed bike and were a bit nervous, or if you wanted advice of filtering and stuff. Yes it's gonna cost you some cash but they will be able to coach you through any issues and advise and show you the proper way to do things. Also you'll have a good rear gunner to keep the idiots back! Just a thought
  5. *checks book* as long as it doesn't end with "R0X" I'll allow it. When I dropped my bike off to get the puncture fixed I was asked my registration so I said "X" at which point I was asked "OOh a private plate?" "No, just old" Apparently it doesn't look old (just like it's owner)
  6. I used to see a guy on a Harley who had one along the lines of D86 HOG which is acceptable in my incredibly fickle and ever changing rule book
  7. true dat! I thought I was watching the Dakar stuff the other day but turns out it was the Africa Eco thing which apparently is different. .... the guy leading that on the bikes had something like a 6 hour lead!!
  8. eeeeeeeeeeee I'm not a fan of private plates I'm afraid But mainly in London they are on chelsea tractors and say things like SW466ER (with yellow screw caps to make the 6s look like Gs) or B16 B01 or other pretentious twaddle. On cars they are very noticeable, I saw one on a bike and on a square plate it's not as noticeable (and I'm guessing his was just his initials) I also once saw a Ferrari something with the number plate 8YE 8YE. On hindsight I don't like people that have stupid private plates that say stupid things.
  9. That properly sucks sorry to hear that Are there any Southampton Based bike groups you can post to on facebook? (ooh maybe these guys http://www.sdmcc.net/index.htm )
  10. hahah I think my favourite is Haynes: Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal. Translation: But you swear in different places. Sometimes it reads like one of those old adventure books. If you wish to continue with your madness of stripping off bits go to chapter 4.5. If you have started to panic at what you are doing go back to 1.5

  15. I do love these (especially for storing spare bedding!) but you'd be a bit buggered if you didn't have a hoover at your destination Hi Hoggs, some have a none return valve where you just seal the bag and squeeze out all the air, or in this case there's a little pump you buy to draw out the air, we use them when touring keeps our gear neat flat and dry and save's us tons of space. Ah, well then I'll shut my face and look into those!

    David Bowie

On the Jeremy Vine show today there was a man who was so upset about Bowie dying that he was unable to cycle to work.

  18. They're getting a lot more convincing and if it catches you on the wrong day mistakes can happen. Golden rule is never open anything from a link, log in to your account directly and see if there are any messages Glad you're sorted don't do it again
  19. Challenge 2017 - bag of corks, 10 points a cow
  20. And if he'd been squashed by the bin lorry it would have somehow been the council's fault and more reasons why trucks should be banned from the city because they're too dangerous to cyclists
  21. We'll get an inch at most. The country will still grind to a halt. I say "we" I mean London. The rest of the country may get snow we'll get dirty slush
