  1. And if he'd been squashed by the bin lorry it would have somehow been the council's fault and more reasons why trucks should be banned from the city because they're too dangerous to cyclists
  2. We'll get an inch at most. The country will still grind to a halt. I say "we" I mean London. The rest of the country may get snow we'll get dirty slush
  3. can i inbox you You can indeed
  4. Here's a map from last year's programme showing stands and where the big screen are http://i.imgur.com/gwSGmRG.jpg Just noticed I cut the key off! Screens are the little circles with a play symbol in them!
  5. We've been the last three years and planning on going again Friday is the quietest and your can go anywhere to watch the practise sessions which is a great way of scoping out where to watch from in future! Normally we sit at becketts for the race (warning it's a wind tunnel in that stand wrap up warm) But this year debating with watching from village. They have the riders for health gear drop off points in the car park so you don't have to lug your gear about and it's a fiver or so. Great atmosphere walking around lots of stands and a few bikes to go sit on. Probably going to stay in the Kents hill park hotel again which is a slightly weird place but cheaper than most and only 30 odd minutes away. And they have a pool table in the reasonably priced bar!
  6. All of the above! The training centres are charging you for bike hire and instruction not just adding several hundred quid to the test to make money! I don't know how you'd get insured on the bike whilst doing your test and however good a rider you are I don't think you'll pass without being taught what the instructor is looking for and how to ride to that standard. Also you'd need someone with a licence to ride the bike to and from the centre. Yes it's expensive but personally i think worth it

  8. Call your bank asap, tell them what's happened and make sure there aren't any transactions on there that shouldn't be! If they have your actual bank details then just unlinking paypal isn't going to stop them I'm afraid.
  9. The pedestrian who crossed the North Circular at a really random point. The traffic was stopped so he just stepped out in front of me from behind a lorry WITHOUT LOOKING AT ALL. Thank a deity of your choice that I was filtering slowly and by sheer luck was a few foot back so could stop without hitting him.
  10. Holy moly Joe that sounds terrifying glad you made it out in one piece
  11. Ah you may be correct there. I'd forgotten we'd been twice.... http://excel.london/food-and-drink Maybe either the burger or pasty place?
  12. I think last time we went to a burger place on a back wall and it was not good There's a rough map here! http://bauermediapacks.com/downloads/mcn/lmssales.pdf
  13. I don't see that request being accepted that's why also it's probably true
  14. OI! I've just noticed you have me and "better" half down! Outrageous!
  15. It's fun to cheerily say "You're welcome" and watch the confusion as they try and remember if just maybe they did say thank you
  16. Hahaha. So thinking of Sunday as OH is working the sat.

    France trip advice

Some European countries require you to carry spare bulbs (for cars at least, not 100% on bikes) but may be worth getting some just in case? I also read somewhere that if you wear glasses you have to have a spare pair on you.
  18. Hmmm I wasn't planning on going this year..... but there is free bike parking.... and I get to look at bikes..... I'll see what the OH is doing and see if my dad fancies a trip to London! Not sure if he'd want to brave the North Circular though
