  1. No worries , I'll be back on the road in a few weeks . Are you in Rugby ?
  2. Are these any good to you ? M6 X 20 . Zinc plated I think . I've got a few bags of them . I believe they " Originated " from JLR . I've got some other styles as well .
  3. Oh well , that's perfect then .
  4. Your biggest problem with working with the engine in the frame , especially on a Fazer , is that the engine is far from vertical . The block will be leaning forwards and gravity will not be working in your favour . I would try to block up the centre stand ( if it has one ) and get something under the front end to make the engine level .
  5. I think it is . I did a Z1000 ST once with no special tools .
  6. Fitting pistons depends to some extent on the design of the barrels . If there is a shallow taper that starts off really wide then they will practically fit themselves . My ER5 almost dropped into place when I was lining it up . The trick is to not rush and let gravity do the work . You need to get right up close to the rings with plenty of light on the job . I would recommend a good read of the Haynes Manual before starting .

    Clutch wear

They are not really sitting in oil . The oil is in the sump which is below the clutch . That's why you can swap out the clutch on a lot of bikes without draining the oil just by leaning them over a little bit more than normal . I suppose with the bike upright there should be enough splash to get some oil into the clutch pack . I'd probably try running the engine in gear with the clutch pulled in for a while to separate the plates .
  8. Oh don't set him off again . They're not connected to the con rods yet . Come on , catch on .
  9. Can I suggest that you invest in a set of BRASS nuts for the exhaust studs on this one , £2.25 . . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brass-Exhaust-Manifold-Nuts-M6-M8-M10-X-1-25-5-16-UNF-/203255357212?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
  10. May I propose an alternative ? Mind you , if you're fitting heated grips this is purely academic . I've had Oxford Fat Grips fitted to a lot of my bikes including my present ER5 . These things are great not so much because of the slightly increased diameter but because they are just so grippy . The key to comfortable hands is not to be holding on so tight . With a grip that has maximum adhesion the desire to clench your hands gradually diminishes as you realise that you don't have to hold on for grim death .
  11. This should be interesting then .
  12. Try running it on Prime position if it has one . Might be the vacuum hose .
  13. I say , steady on old chap , that's a bit strong isn't it ? Apart from a bit of nostalgia concerning the late Mr Williams , I can't find anything remotely derogatory or sarcastic that has been directed at you in this entire thread . One thing I can tell you is that whatever club you try to join , without a good sense of humour you are in for a very short and bumpy ride indeed .
  14. Surely you must have had a furtle in yer gander bag while you dangled yer durzels ?
  15. When you've got a Harley with drag pipes of course you let it warm up while you take your time putting your gloves on . All part of the ritual . If I didn't get disapproving scowls and slammed windows from the plebs I wouldn't have got the thing . I'm not worried about my neighbor because he's got a 1600 Marauder with no baffles .
  16. No worries . You're much better off looking for a Facebook Group that's either bike model based or just into meets and rideout's . I'm a member of Sportster Sickness but it places no obligations upon me whatsoever .
  17. I wouldn't recommend approaching an MC on a Honda Rebel mate . If you are so naive as to not even know which MC's are in your area i would strongly recommend that you stay well away before you get chewed up and spat out .
  18. Well that's five minutes I'll never get back .
  19. Yep , I agree . Show us this law please before this silly discussion goes any further .
  20. Off Road World in Coleshill will have Grip Glue .
  21. A prune is a plum that thinks too much .
  22. Only joking . It's really great that you have taken the trouble to thank those that helped . Far too often we get one post and no feedback on here . Welcome on board .
  23. What makes you think this lot would understand knives and forks any better than they understand spanners ?
  24. No need to machine something that doesn't need machining . Remember , this isn't a Brough Superior , it's a consumer product built down to a price to maximize profits . That's why it's got 6mm exhaust studs instead of 8mm .
