  1. When you say that you haven't dealt with it sometimes you have to ask yourself what dealing with it would actually look like . Your " Fight " response is telling you must do X,Y and Z , stick it in a box and place it in the outbound mail . Done . But life , memories and emotions don't work like that . Time is a healer is a cliche but there is some truth in that . Only trouble is , we can't jump forward to the better times to come . But they will come .
  2. Never had that happen .
  3. So I've just cleaned up this barrel and pistons that I bought off eBay for £32.00 . It's in absolutely brilliant condition and I'm delighted with it . So I Googled Cradley Kawasaki and added up the cost new of everything in this picture excluding the dowels and circlips . £ 1,370.01
  4. An hour and a can of Vimto later and I've got a pristine jointing surface . I could have this engine back together by Sunday .
  5. I've spent ten minutes trying to write something meaningful about what has emerged here but I'm stuck for words . Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed so far . I'll be reading this stuff for a long time . I hope that others among us are getting something out of this . For me it feels like the mirror has been broken and I'm looking outwards instead of inwards .
  6. My latest present from eBay . These are really good . Minimal bore wear and once they've had a scrub a near flawless outer finish . They even threw in the camchain tensioner . All for £32 . Setting aside other factors , that's just halved the mileage on the bike .
  7. Maybe this will help explain why the general situation in the world outside of our sphere of influence is having a negative effect on personal wellbeing . This describes a panic attack but all of this can be applied to a slow drip drip effect over time as well .
  8. I think you put it very well . The anxiety is really tiring me out and chipping away at my strength . The worst part for me is like being a spectator at your own life . I'm acutely aware of my own behaviour but I seem to be losing control over it .
  9. So how are you feeling ?
  10. You would probably get a lot more out of it from reading the book . The whole thing is written as if it is observed through the eyes of The Chief and goes to places that the film dosen't even touch upon .
  11. I'm the same . I'm really struggling to get motivated at the moment . It isn't exactly depression because I'm reasonably cheerful . It's more like suppression .
  12. I didn't really know what section to put this in so I've stuck it where more are likely to see it . So , I'll get the ball rolling . How's your Mental Health ? Is the weirdness of the last seven months impacting on your general well-being or maybe you're just experiencing Seasonally Affected Depression ( SAD ) ? It's not as if we can lose the cares of a shit day by nipping out on the bike for an hour now that winter is upon us . So if anyone would like to talk about their Mental Health issues past and present here's a chance to sound off . I would only ask that we try to keep it constructive and respectful . There are plenty of other opportunities to rip the piss to be found elsewhere on here .
  13. Likely to be the busiest section on the board! You can lob @dynax in there for starters! You are confusing eccentricity with mental health .
  14. I quit alcohol ten years and 29 days ago and cigarettes shortly after that . A year or two later I joined Slimming World and lost 9 stone by changing my diet . Unfortunately my mental health has taken a downward turn recently that has been exacerbated by the Covid pandemic . I've put all the weight back on now and I cannot summon the will to do anything about it . Some will be aware that I have Asperger's Syndrome which has not been an issue until recently but now every day seems to bring more confusion and more unpleasant surprises especially in the workplace . I think it would be a good idea to have a mental health section on this forum or maybe just an ongoing thread if anyone wants to sound off about how they are really feeling in these unprecedented times . Think I'll start a thread later on this evening .
  15. For 3K you could probably get a mint licence .
  16. You still got a license then ?
  17. Googled O2 coverage and within ten minutes there's an issue with my bill . Luckily I'm not even an O2 customer .
  18. Tell her you could almost double your money . It says the starter dosen't engage but it might be as simple as dirt in the starter motor itself . Either way you could easily get £900 + for this if it had no issues .
  19. It's a good job I do this for the fun of it . I've spent this much already and all this bike needs is a starter clutch . 20. It was a Harald actually but essentially the same car with a different body I believe . My Grandad's name was Harold, but he never had a Triumph Herald. Bollocks .

  22. It sometimes used to work with early coded radios, something to do with early silicone technology. Pretty certain anything since the 80's and it's no longer works... I tried it on a few old radios I was given with no codes, it didn't work. The idea is by freezing you kill the battery that keeps it locked. Or at least that's what I was told back in the day. Would that not turn it into a Superconductor ?
  23. As a former Lift Truck instructor I can tell you one thing . Being good at something and effectively teaching it to others are two very different things . You probably just had an instructor who wasn't very good at instructing . Book again with another school and have another go . I'm only going by what you have written but try not to focus on the other trainees too much .
  24. My rule is that when I buy a second hand bike NEVER believe a word anyone says about the oil and ALWAYS change it , and the filter , at the very first opportunity .
