  1. This post has made me smile . I've seen many posts , on the Harley Davidson Forum and others where folk get really concerned about how to prevent the dreaded Decel Popping . And yet here is a bloke who wants to actually achieve Decel Popping . I'm kind of with you on this . My Harley pops a bit , my last ER5 was like a firework display and many other bikes I've owned have done it .The best one was my GSX 1100 ET with a Vance and Hines megaphone of an exhaust. If I had a bike that didn't do it I'd certainly miss it . I'll have a word with my neighbor with the 1600 Marauder and ask if he gets any popping with completely unbaffled pipes .

    Scary shit

You're clearly shocked Rich but who are you actually talking about ?
  3. Blocked Pilot Jet . Poke it out with something softer than brass such as a brush bristle, a piece of fishing line or a clean sliver of bamboo taken from a barbecue skewer .

    Newbie

Welcome to the forum . I see that you have a CB250 RS . Marvelous bike , I had one once .
  5. So now I've got a half decent radiator and fan thanks to an extremely generous donation from an ER5 FB group member . Kawasaki have made sure that you can't get the fan off the motor and therefore can't get the motor out of the housing . So I defeated the buggers by chopping out the rust eaten part of one housing and grafting in some good metal cut from another one with a duff motor . I don't have welding equipment so I pop rivetted it . It functions and it's invisible once installed on the bike . With the carbs and cooling system done I think the next step is to go straight to an engine start up before going too much further .
  6. I know the feeling . A lot of unknowns on this project of mine . To be honest it's a bit further gone than I would have liked .
  7. Probably a good idea to start a new thread rather than tack one onto the tail end of one started 9 years ago and revived again 3 years ago .
  8. breathe and relax... couple of shots of Jacky D if your a bit to nervy Damn you Six30 , that's pretty much what I was going to suggest !
  9. Here you go .
  10. I don't care if it can be be programmed to play the Ying Tong Song .
  11. I don't want to know . f**k it .
  12. Nipping over to Birmingham to pick up a free radiator and fan for the ER5 project . Which is nice !
  13. And I would have said the exact opposite . A leg either side of the bike has always seemed to be the safest option to me . I haven't dropped a bike for as long as I can remember .
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong but surely that IS the petrol tank and the one on top of the frame is a dummy . So how come you're ripping this bike apart without a manual ?https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xv535-up-1995-4kua-europe-254ku-300e1_model38972/partslist/0027.html#.XzjwwWnTWyU
  15. So today I scrubbed up the Air Box and turned my attention to the Thermostat Housing . I popped the thermostat in a pan of hot water and made sure it was opening and closing properly then just cleaned the rest up and replaced the bolts with stainless Allen Bolts . I'm just going to carry on taking bits off and sorting them out until there's nothing left but the frame .
  16. I won't be buying one now . I've scored a decent rad and fan for free off the ER5 FB group. Collect tomorrow . Happy days !
  17. Right about now is the peak of the cereals harvest so you need to be particularly aware of soil and straw that has been dragged out of the fields by Combine Harvesters and Grain Trucks . Regarding Diesel spills , I encountered two massive spills on consecutive roundabouts in Fort William recently but my attempts to report them using the Police non emergency number were unsuccessful . And don't get me started on garages where you have to park and stand in a lake of the stuff to get petrol .
  18. If you let us know what bike it is that might have some bearing on the subject . By the way , where does your insurance company believe the bike is kept ?
  19. Which end are you attaching first ?
  20. On the downside , the radiator is scrap . Destroyed by salt by the look of it . No worries , Chinese replicas are only £60 .
  21. Carbs stripped , inspected and reassembled minus the cross-head screws . Everything inside was dry but absolutely clean as a whistle and in fine working order .
  22. It certainly does dosen't it . But it's completely straight in real life .
  23. Dead battery . Unless you have an auxiliary voltmeter fitted to your bike , you won't know whether your battery is knackered until it suddenly fails . Just buy a new one .https://www.tayna.co.uk/motorcycle-batteries/. These guys do a 24 hr service .
  24. We almost passed out from the effort in the heat . Thank goodness the lady selling the bike was on hand to provide pints of Orange Squash with ice in it . Just how big is that car? Well done for squeezing it in. It's a C4 Picasso . We had to take the front wheel off and lay it down diagonally with the tank and plastics off . It still stuck out a bit so we tied the rear door down with a rope . What was more remarkable than fitting the bike in a car was the fact that we got from Coventry to Northampton and back between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm without once being caught in stationary traffic .
