  1. If all else fails it probably wouldn't be too difficult to retrofit a carburettor to it .
  2. I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now that I've seen this helpful video .
  3. Good question. The plastics are ok but the tank has deep scratches and a little dent in each side . I'll probably do what I did with the last one . Find a decent tank in any colour and spray the plastics to match . There is another alternative but this is a £300 bike and I don't want to sink any more money than strictly necessary into it . It would look nice though ....
  4. Tore it apart !
  5. Nah . I'm going to the outer Hebrides on this . I get where you're coming from though .
  6. It's not actually a Villiers . It's a Francis Barnet Cruiser 250 . Villiers engines were supplied to dozens of small British manufacturers most of which vanished as quickly as they appeared .
  7. Went to the Bikers Market event at Fillongly . There wasn't a lot there to honest but I managed to score a pair of Hagon shocks for the ER5 for a tenner . Ok they've seen better days but they're much better than what's on it . I got my neighbor to take them home for me while I took a meandering trip to Sally's Place Cafe on the Malvern Hills for the finest BLT you'll ever eat and a homemade Rock Cake .

  9. As you may know I'm a great advocate of the Kawasaki ER5 . Look at this for a bargain . Please view this ad: Kawasaki ER5, https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/kawasaki-er5/1383075520?utm_source=com.google.android.apps.docs&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_android Price: £ 650 Download the application from the Google Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gumtree.android
  10. You should be aware that there is currently an ongoing dispute with residents and the Local Authority about parking bikes by the river . You might be well advised to Google it to find out the latest developments .
  11. Anyone going to this ? https://www.facebook.com/groups/354124961885753/permalink/658991828065730/
  12. So from a buyer's point of view that's excellent . You can get one for a quarter of the original price .
  13. I met someone once who told me that they found a three legged stool in the wing fuel tank of a Vulcan bomber .
  14. So now that it runs the next move is to drop all the fluids and take the whole bike apart . The frame is going to take some serious rust removal but the swinging arm is probably scrap . I'll pull the barrels off to see what the piston rings are like but apart from that everything else is just cosmetic . The job I'm not looking forward to is removing the front mudguard . I haven't even looked but I know that those four bolts will be salt eroded to oblivion .

    XTreme?

For anyone with withdrawal symptoms , here you go .
  16. Not if you are set upon by some angry Ewoks .
  17. Number three please .
  18. This is the Motorbike Forum isn't it ?
  19. I'd probably better learn to drive first . It can't be too difficult considering some of the f***wits they let loose behind a wheel .
  20. There are various types . Some are designed for permanent fitting and some should be kept under the seat and fitted when you need air . Those crude 90% brass ones should not be left on the bike because of the strain they could place on rubber stemmed valves and It has always annoyed me that they are often sold in pairs on eBay . Of course , if you have a well designed bike such as a Harley Davidson , the valve comes out of the side of the wheel anyway .
  21. I removed the camshafts on a GSXR once and every bolt snapped in the same place on the way out . Luckily they all snapped at the point where the thread stops so they were really easy to wind out by hand . They had probably been over torqued or reused against manufacturers advice . Scary stuff though .
