  1. So bad its ......no it's just bad .
  2. Here you go . Walking distance .
  3. Good morning and welcome . Has your headlight bulb disappeared ? If not , just take it to Halfords and buy the same one . If you don't have the original , post a picture of the back of the headlight reflector and I'm sure we will easily identify the bulb based on the fitting . My guess is that it's either an H4 or HS1
  4. This is the bit I'd be checking for broken welds .
  5. il check that guide cheers.. i do lube it but realise i must have left it longer than usual The biggest problem with O and X ring chains , in my opinion , is that they are fine to start off with but as time goes by and wear sets in , nobody notices . This is because the O rings effectively silence any rattles and make the links appear stiff when in fact they are worn well beyond what would be considered acceptable on a normal chain . I've seen a chain with grooves worn into the pins it was so bad , but at first glance it seemed fine .
  6. I wonder whether there are warning signs at the bottom of the pass ? If there were , maybe no one could read them because some selfish twats had " Sticker Bombed " them . This is what has happened at Bealach na Ba . Go up there with the wrong vehicle in the wrong conditions and you can end up in a world of trouble .
  7. Have a look at the rubber guide at the front of your swinging arm near the front sprocket. I suspect it's probably got quite deep grooves worn in it caused by the chain rubbing . It's likely to be this that has attacked the O rings . That and running without chain lube .
  8. I'd second that having had a couple of GSXR's . Have a good look at the top fairing bracket checking for cracked welds that might not be immediately apparent or visible .

    Newbie

Hello and welcome . That's an interesting leap into the two wheeled world .
  10. Nitromors is shit these days . Your best bet is Wire Wool or even Brillo Pads with most of the soap washed out . I'm assuming that you have removed the covers from the bike .
  11. I think the next move is to suspend any restoration work until I have got the engine running . I've got a nasty feeling this bike might have been run without coolant . On many bikes that could be disastrous but the ER5 does have cooling fins . We shall see .

    Cheap Chinese

They have certainly done their market research . I was up at the Green Welly Stop the Sunday before last and almost every bike was of this " Naked Sports " style .
  15. Sounds like you've never heard of Train Splitter or similar websites. You can get one way journeys for a fraction of the asking price and I don't mean a bit of discount either . I think I got about 70% off when I went to collect my bike from Portsmouth . You might have to change train more frequently but if one train is late they will honour the rest of the journey .
  16. I know the west of Scotland like the back of my hand . Where specifically do you want to stay ? I've just come back from there and many hotels , especially those that depend on coach trips are still closed .

    Hi There

Is that really the best you can do ? What is this GIF attempting to convey in the context of this thread ? So obtuse . It's bewilderment Bob. Sort of thing you'd throw in when somebody buys a Harley. So you could simply write " I'm bewildered " Regarding the context , I think the OP has adequately explained his thought process and subsequent actions .

    Hi There

I've had an up close look at one of these Lexmotos and basically the whole idea is to create the illusion of a modern bike using old technology . So the frame will still be steel despite appearances , the engine will be an old CG or GS 125 knock off and everything will be deliberately designed to look and feel as big as possible. Hence the weight . The linked braking system just scares me and I'm sure it works the wrong way round . Admittedly these things don't cost the earth but you can probably already kiss goodbye to half what it cost to buy . Sorry to be so negative but that's just the way it is .

  20. " I told her that I wasn't aware of anybody else who was doing anything similar within the motorcycling fraternity " It wouldn't have anything to do with it appearing to be a grim , lonely and depressing way to spend one's time not to mention being a bit creepy . I'm sure you enjoy what you're doing but I'd be constantly on my guard in case I got set upon by some crazy dosser leaping from the ruins . Although Covid19 has put paid to all my plans this year , I like to go somewhere a bit more cheery such as a bike meet , custom show or an Air Display .

    Hi There

I completely understand . If you had joined the forum before you had got a bike I would have wholeheartedly recommended that you get an ER5 . I'm currently doing up a second one having had one as a second bike for a couple of years . These things range in price from £300 for a basket case to about £800 - £1200 for really good ones with loads of life left in them . They are small and light enough to feel like a 125 but when you open the throttle they will give you 43 horsepower . Second hand spares are plentiful and cheap and apart from being prone to a bit of rust they are totally indestructible . I definitely urge you to have a look . Here's my first one 560 miles from home on a 1600 mile tour of Scotland .

    Hi There

A 60 year old bloke called Razor who has ridden bikes up to 750 cc has bought a Lexmoto Isca 125 . Come on mate , have a word with yourself . Welcome to the forum .
  23. Polite jacket or the sun shining out of their arses , whichever is brighter .
  24. You can have a go but I suggest you bring an array of siege weapons and some Midge Repellent with you . Be prepared for a long wait because I've got a plentiful supply of Tatties , Kippers , Tunnock's Caramel Wafers and Irn Bru . Good luck .
  25. I don't think they are safer , I think they are great ! If you want to ride with a stick up your arse go ahead . I've ridden several hundred thousand miles on all kinds of bikes mostly with loud pipes and I'm still here . It doesn't get much more advanced than that .
