  1. Yes it sounds stupid. It's a mind numbing 5hr journey at best for me to get to either the Chunnel or the Boat that takes you to Euroland. With time being an issue, I want to limit the number of days it would take to get there. I am thinking of putting the bike in the van and heading to the Vosges, were at a push I could get there in, albeit a long day. I am thinking of staying in one place and plan daily ride outs. Just asking, is this a stupid idea and/or would I encounter many questions at border control. Been to Euroland many times, both in the van and on the bike, just not with a bike in the back of the day van.

apologies just seen this. With Bike Edit: The ferry is great, £5 for the bike £3 for you You can get some light refreshments on board from the little cafe/shop area. Plenty of seating. Bikes are strapped down by the crew, crossing is fine though. No duty free though the ride from Onich to Mallaig is brilliant, the road from Armadale to Portree is even better
  3. This should probably go somewhere else, but eh ho . following on from my last post, I Purchased an Ermax Sports Touring Screen for the little MT07. This is a great little addition. The fixing bracket is shaped to fit the front using the four front facing fixings, the screen then attached to that, simples. It certainly makes the motorway miles more bearable, no buffering or it is buffeting just good old helmet noise.

Avon Skin So Soft (Original) is your friend. We were up there the first week in May, there was no midges then, however we nearly died of hyperthermia, weather was kind but freezing, the year before was scorchio. If you get chance to go again I would definitely recommend the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale its only £8 and back across the bridge
  5. These type of drivers are the same type of people it has taken two attempts to circumcise Things like this happen all the time. Tonight myself and AN Other filtered to the front of traffic at the lights (dual carriageway), AN Other accelerates off allowing me behind him to also get away, however the sac of waste circumcised skin decided he would accelerate quickly trying to outpace us (why ). This left me in a dangerous position thus having to accelerate past AN Other with the sac of waste behind me nearly rear ending me. Anyhow - next set of lights I politely asked the sac of circumcised skin to step out of the car so we can discuss his actions in finer detail. He must have got a viagra pill stuck in his throat, his neck was that stiff he couldn't turn his head to face me, his aircon must be working fine cos the window also went up pretty quick. I suppose he wanted to demonstrate he has a quick car cos he hasn't got any cock n balls
  6. What a great little machine the MT07 is. I have just purchased one (2019) for commuting and for the odd fun day out, but I find the more I ride it, the more enjoyable it is . I also own a BMW R1200GS for those long days in the saddle and touring, however the beemer is getting less and less use. The Little MT is lighter and more manageable to move on the driveway, its nimble and easy to filter in traffic. Yes it's cheap and cheerful. Like most nakeds, anything above 60mph starts to take it out of you, so a little sports touring screen has been ordered. I will report on this later. Speaking of touring, I think it would be possible, I've managed two weeks in Europe on my old CBR600F (tailpack & tank bag) tank range about 160-180, that's enough miles for me, its then brew and toilet time been riding for over 30 years and I sure do get ready for that break Plenty of accessories out there, first one for me will be the screen, then bobbins and levers. The suspension is soft, this takes some getting use to, especially compared to the GS. But I can live with that. I thought about a Katoom 1290GT, but after all the years riding I have found you can pay for a lot of gizmos to stop you riding the bike, traction this and anti wheelie that, cornering ABS WTF really plus the be all and end all I couldn't afford £16K otherwise I would have one The MT is a great bike for today's roads, country or motorway. I can see why it sells well in Euroland.
  7. Congratulations I have a GS for those two up touring trips, however I also have the MT07 for days out. I like the little MT07, it has enough power for today's roads and most of all it is fun. It will go round the twisties just as quick as any other bike, cheap and cheerful and cool looking too.
  8. I use the Ghost X when commuting and delete the footage every couple of days, picture quality imo better than other cheaper imports i've used. I think the picture quality on the go pro camera is far superior, especially if you want to capture those touring memories with quality imaging, and now with in built stabilization. Having said that the quality of the X is still very good
  9. The stop & Go tyre plugger is a useful piece of kit. Commuting to and from work, cell phone and roadside assistance. When Touring its TFI. Tightening, Fixing & Inflating. Which basically consists of a small tool kit for tightening small fasteners & other bits and pieces. Fixing is basically duct tape and tie wraps etc and then, there is the tyre inflator. Oh and a pie
  10. I would not recommend going to Paris in a car never mind on a motocicle Infact I wouldn't even recommend going round that ring road either
  11. Very Nice. I am thinking of going later in the year. How many days/nights did you do. I was thinking Sun-Thursday and using Vianden as a base for a couple of days.
  12. Have a look at Altberg Boots on fleabuy for cheaper options. Made to measure if you go to the factory but cost a lot more
  13. Went up there many years ago before it was recognised as the NC500. Did the west side this year and going again next year; however the west is best and 4 nights was enough. We changed it a little this year and stayed Arrochar, Ullapool and on the way back Dunfermline.
  14. Have a look for a key extraction kit (roughly £5) easy to get a broken key out with a little patience
  15. Haha I was once quoted £125.00 for the first service (oil and filter change) my reply went something like "Foxtrot Oscar, I'm not as green as I am cabbage looking"
  16. Ah... to pay a professional rate for only the workshop monkey let loose on your pride and joy I would imagine £35.00 phr at an independent, I suppose it also depends what bike.... I have a Bavarian Mudslinger I paid £187.00 for the Valves checked and adjusted, brake fluid change (Servo assisted abs bmw boll@xs system) clutch fudge changed and throttle bodies set up/balanced and a new alternator belt oh and a general check on a laptop . And the best bit ..... the bloke talked me through it all while he was doing it and offering advice. did the simple stuff myself
  17. I currently have 4 Lids and no problems with Pinlock; however the latest edition is an HJC-RPHA10ST very comfy and the pinlock does its job but the internal sun visor does mist up slightly, must be the chin curtain preventing air leaving the lid, something to do with Airflow I think. First lid I have had with internal sun visor.
  18. Reading the specification this appears to be a top notch system. Look forward to the review. We currently have the Scala Q2 pro, not as good as it once was. I was thinking of going back to the Starcom system; however this may have changed my mind.
  19. Haha made me chuckle, could've been me I've done this a few times on the east lancs for bikers, not being flash just being courteous plus them feckin mirrors are expensive
  20. Heated grips The wife and I have Keis heated gilets, had them for years. In the winter months I use mine daily when commuting. One of the best pieces of kit I bought.
  21. Chin up and get it done again. I'm out of touch with the new motorcycle test thing. It all seems so difficult these days and no doubt for the right reasons. The advice I got years ago was "try and lose the bugger following" Well it was 30 odd years ago
