  1. The stop & Go tyre plugger is a useful piece of kit. Commuting to and from work, cell phone and roadside assistance. When Touring its TFI. Tightening, Fixing & Inflating. Which basically consists of a small tool kit for tightening small fasteners & other bits and pieces. Fixing is basically duct tape and tie wraps etc and then, there is the tyre inflator. Oh and a pie
  2. I would not recommend going to Paris in a car never mind on a motocicle Infact I wouldn't even recommend going round that ring road either
  3. Very Nice. I am thinking of going later in the year. How many days/nights did you do. I was thinking Sun-Thursday and using Vianden as a base for a couple of days.
  4. Have a look at Altberg Boots on fleabuy for cheaper options. Made to measure if you go to the factory but cost a lot more
  5. Went up there many years ago before it was recognised as the NC500. Did the west side this year and going again next year; however the west is best and 4 nights was enough. We changed it a little this year and stayed Arrochar, Ullapool and on the way back Dunfermline.
  6. Have a look for a key extraction kit (roughly £5) easy to get a broken key out with a little patience
  7. Haha I was once quoted £125.00 for the first service (oil and filter change) my reply went something like "Foxtrot Oscar, I'm not as green as I am cabbage looking"
  8. Ah... to pay a professional rate for only the workshop monkey let loose on your pride and joy I would imagine £35.00 phr at an independent, I suppose it also depends what bike.... I have a Bavarian Mudslinger I paid £187.00 for the Valves checked and adjusted, brake fluid change (Servo assisted abs bmw boll@xs system) clutch fudge changed and throttle bodies set up/balanced and a new alternator belt oh and a general check on a laptop . And the best bit ..... the bloke talked me through it all while he was doing it and offering advice. did the simple stuff myself
  9. I currently have 4 Lids and no problems with Pinlock; however the latest edition is an HJC-RPHA10ST very comfy and the pinlock does its job but the internal sun visor does mist up slightly, must be the chin curtain preventing air leaving the lid, something to do with Airflow I think. First lid I have had with internal sun visor.
  10. Reading the specification this appears to be a top notch system. Look forward to the review. We currently have the Scala Q2 pro, not as good as it once was. I was thinking of going back to the Starcom system; however this may have changed my mind.
  11. Haha made me chuckle, could've been me I've done this a few times on the east lancs for bikers, not being flash just being courteous plus them feckin mirrors are expensive
  12. Heated grips The wife and I have Keis heated gilets, had them for years. In the winter months I use mine daily when commuting. One of the best pieces of kit I bought.
  13. Chin up and get it done again. I'm out of touch with the new motorcycle test thing. It all seems so difficult these days and no doubt for the right reasons. The advice I got years ago was "try and lose the bugger following" Well it was 30 odd years ago
  14. WoW that was quick working that one out Enjoy your trip and hope it all goes well. Not for me sorry I'm off down the RDGA next year.
  15. I'm sure there will be plenty on here that will be along and offer good advice. Have a look at www.ride.co.uk for ideas on routes for starters. Good Luck IMO I have found that our European neighbours are more biker friendly and are more aware of bikers; however you still have to be vigilant and have your wits about you They usually expect you to pass, so they move over slightly . Saying that the luftwaffe or Bundespolizei will have you for filtering Priorite a droit isn't as popular but still exists out in the sticks of France, only last week coming back from Sarlat I came across plenty of them. People will say Google is your friend, well not when route planning over the winter months trying to create routes for your summer trip over the alps We have always found secure parking
  16. Good on yer Samuel. However when in the Alps you will do well to average 35mph On the B500 you will do well to do 90kph without the gestapo sneaking up on you astride his Bavarian fun stopper My advice is enjoy it and be careful
  17. Hi Samuel The Hull to Rotterdam is an overnighter and it's only about an hour and a half ride. Once at Rotterdam you can be in the Rhineland in just over 3hrs. Just saying Edit: As stu says
  18. Enjoyed the ride today . It was good to meet up with 2WheelSolo. The route from Buxton back to Lymm was a road I had never taken before; thanks to 2WheelSolo for that one . Great video, good to see I still can't ride after 36 years of picking up bad habits At 8.04 is where I was hit head on back in 2014 It's a pity the FWR's never made it There was even a curvy ladies group riding out over to Wales leaving from Lymm this morning
  19. Wonderful. I hope it all works out for you. Any reason for going all the way to Southampton instead of Hull to Rotterdam
  20. My Boots. TCX Explorer Evo GTX. Super comfy and keep my feet warm and dry in rainy cold weather. Oh and my heated gilet
  21. If the M6 re opens in time (tongue in cheek) I will probably be there on the Bavarian Mudslinger (Red GS) Will keep an eye on the post and weather. Once got hit by a car head on going over the Cat & Fiddle a few years back it wasn't my fault either
