Make sure your loft conversion has a hoist for lifting engines in and out, I mean, that’s what it’s for right?

Cleaning tarnished matt metallic surfaces
Mickly replied to Hairsy's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
I’d like to know this as well -
I was chased by Coventry City Council for a missed Council Tax payment. I provided a copy of the bank slip proving that it had been paid, apparently that wasn’t good enough & they threatened court action, I said see you there suckers, then I got notification that it had been heard in court (without me being notified it was happening )& they were instructing Bailiffs to recover the payment plus costs. I asked the bank to explain to the Council that it had been paid, it seems that the bank had sent it but the Council had not received it, it had disappeared down a digital black hole. So there I was, being responsible for something that I had no control over. I made several threats to the bank about losing my money & that I would be suing them if the Baliffs took any stuff. Miraculously the bank came up with some kind of magic code to give to the Council ( they wouldn’t contact them directly on my behalf ) I then got a letter from the Council saying that in this case they “would not be taking any further action” My visit to the Council house to tell them what a bunch of lying b’stards they were provided much entertainment to the people queuing & although I insisted that I did not blame the counter clerk personally, my repeated insistence to speak to their boss ( who was hiding round the corner ) resulted in me being escorted from the building. None of my emails or written letters were ever responded to, despite them being firm but polite. *As part of my Trades Union membership I got free legal advice & they backed me all the way ( well except the Council House Rant )

Maybe remove the cable completely and manually slide it through & see if you get the same feeling?

Took my new ( to me ) bike for its first dirty ride. A relatively easy but very overgrown green lane took it tentatively, got into it & was quite a bit quicker on the way back, it’s 10 stone lighter than my last ‘adventure’ bike & bloody hell it shows, absolutely love it.

No we bloody don’t

Indeed it is & done less than 500 miles in the last 4 years

Off to view. a bike in a bit. I of course will be sensible, give it a good going over and come to a considered decision….. Or maybe not

Police hogging the middle lane should be treated as entrapment, they’re just waiting to pull over anyone who undertakes or remonstrates in any way,
-
Of course there where no distractions back in the day, no one ever used a plug in ciggy lighter and ended up with a hot ember in their lap causing them to panic & lose control, or operate a push button tape player

I agree with all the above, I also decant some into an old mug and use a very small paint brush to apply it to hard to get to areas or places near the brakes.

Any decent apps for route planning? Gpx file creation etc?
Mickly replied to AstronautNinja's topic in Touring
Yep, do the planning on the PC and use the app on your phone as guidance on the road if you’ve not got satnav -

The TRF group I’m in did a tutorial on ‘Outdoor’ Active’ combined with the GRM, I find it excellent, even for planning road routes, can then export a GPX file to my sat nav -
My dish washer drips when f*cked m, but she seems quite happy about it

Today I ‘borrowed’ some free weights from eldest son, Missus asked WTF? I said I felt I needed to rebuild my upper body strength to assist with trail riding when I get my new bike. Her response was “you’re nearly 63 that’s not gonna happen” do I need any more encouragement?

Going to Weston Super Mare with Missus & others, not great at this dreary time of year …. But !!! it’s the Weston Beach Enduro, an absolutely amazing spectacle, which we go to watch most years. Guys go watch and drink beer on the beach, Ladies go shopping & drinking cocktails, everyone’s happy

Must have fuggin jinxed it … guys been in touch, he can’t get it started, it’s been laid up for a year, he’s drained the old fuel, & put a new battery on it but it’s not playing ball … bolllocks !!

Not strictly the weekend, but tomorrow I am going to look at a bike with a view to a potential purchase. I’ve spent ages looking for a reasonably priced example, there is nothing but overpriced tat on eBay ( eg why is the silver swinging arm painted black, why is there a missing hand guard, why are all the fixings rusty ) etc etc & dealers are asking more than my budget: Finally, after asking fellow TRF members for advice, one of them said he’s giving it up & offered me what I’m looking for at a good price and decent condition.:.. watch this space
