XJ900N color schemes and codes
Old-codger replied to Torsten's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
Can i suggest getting touch with RS paints they supply most manufactuers with touch up kits and have a vast knowledge base of original paint colours. RS Motorbike Paint Colors - Motorcycle paint, bike paint, Kawasaki Honda Yamaha (rsbikepaint.com) -
Sorry dont like the bar end mirrors its the standard mirrors for me.

Just a suggestion for modern day problems!!!!! could you not take up smoking again at least you wouldnt go off coarse then.

I would be asking the police if they have evidence of other drivers doing this illegal turn and then pressure them and the highways authority to make this junction safer by either closing it altogether or making it impossible to turn right. The highways could install cameras at the junction to monitor and then make the necessary alterations. Good luck I hope it all goes well and re the horse comment Its a NO from me them things have a mind of their own, a motorcycle is a lot more fun and the stabling fees are a lot cheaper.

I hope the recovery goes well for you all and you can put it all behind you. Sadly in this country the sentencing for driving offences are pathetic and do in no way reflect the injury and damage they cause to others. I hope you have a very good solicitor to fight your corner for the present and ongoing health problems the accident has caused.

CBR600 F3 1998 - amateur restoration
Old-codger replied to Hairsy's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
As others have said a tap with a centre punch and hammer to shock the bolt but not enough to break the hugger keep soaking it with penetrating fluid. By the look of it put masking tape on the hugger to protect it and I would clamp a pair of mole grips on it and then gently move it back and forwards over time. It may only move a mil or two but give it time more fluid and hopefully it will start to free off. Dont try to turn to much or you risk snapping the bolt head off. If it does break centre punch it the drill it out and then run a tap through it to clean up thr thread. Good luck -
I feel for you it is so hard when you lose a much loved pet, I lost my last retriever nearly four years ago and not a day goes by that I dont think about him.

That is a credit to you sir another cracking resto and very entertaining read. Roll on the new year and the next bike. -
When I get electronic things like this I just sit down and methodically work through button sequences and hopefully start to see different menus and then work through them. Have you tried ringing a dealer that sells or has sold this model for advice.
-
Happy xmas to all hope you all have a great time.
-
Did your bike come with an owners handbook or whatever the modern version is these days. After the new year take a trip to your local kwaka dealer and have a friendly word with them.

As Ian has said I would knock up bits of steel tubing big flat washers and a length of 10mm studding and draw the bush out. If that assembly is laquered be wary of heat on it if you want to preserve the finish just make up some rubber washers to protect the meal. I was in my shed yesterday looking for something and found a strange tool I had made years ago and for the life of me I cannot remember what I used it for but im not chucking it out just in case. I like making odd tools and coming up with solutions and the best bit it doesnt cost much.

You cant modify the moped legally to go faster than 45kph or 28mph if that is all you are allowed to ride. If you are old enough to ride something bigger sell the Chinese AJS and buy something else as S-westerly suggested.

Plus he is clearly a trader so should be on trade plates and all that goes with that. If he was to be involved in an accident the person he has brought the car off would be liable for any claim and I cant see them saying oh yes I let him borrow the car with no mot to travel 200 miles to mot it and oh he wants to buy the car when he gets there. Good luck arguing that one with law enforcement. Sorry but cowboy trader springs to mind.

Hi Matteo welcome to the forum.

Have a look on webmoto or Fowlers of bristol or CMS in holland and look up your model. Get the part number then cross reference it, you may be able to buy a generic version from a bearing factor and a better price then. Has anyone else noticed Colonel Saunders seems to have morphed into Rolf Harris.

Thats fine it does the job and takes up the slack nice fix. This may help with trying to find parts or how things are ment to go if you havnt heard of them before Honda CG125 1981 (B) ENGLAND parts lists and schematics (cmsnl.com) They are a huge supplier of genuine parts based in holland and are great for research into hundreds of models. Great for cross referencing parts.

I thought you had moved down under cobber.

Are you sure its the correct throttle body for that bike has it been changed out off something else that isnt right. Did you buy a genuine honda cable or a generic one as a lot of the copies are utter junk unless from a decent manufactuer.
