  1. That's why I stressed my personal knowledge is limited. There's probably hundreds but pretty sure none of them are Adventure style bikes.
  2. Most motorbikes have a larger (wider) rear wheel than front. I'm struggling to think of one that doesn't but my personal knowledge is limited.
  3. I hope you get a lot of pleasure from your new bike. Enjoy! Sadly I know nothing about Tigers. They were on my list before I wandered off down the Italian bike route. Mad fool that I am
  4. There's way more BMW than Guzzi but also many Japanese and Triumph. The most recent one for Guzzi doesn't apply to my version fortunately as it has a completely different suspension system.
  5. Surely it depends on who is filling what? I'm not applying!
  6. The next question is why was your friend pulled over? Assuming your bike was legally clean and duly taxed and insured police don't generally pull someone over unless they are doing something that attracts their attention. If he was pulled for speeding / dangerous riding and it then turns out he was riding uninsured but with your permission its not a good look for you. Every insurer I've had in recent years insures me to ride any bike with the owners permission but Third Party only (the legal minimum).
  7. In between the showers fitted a Speedo Angel screen protector and Givi hand guards. Everything fitted without too much drama although I do not like IKEA style fitting instructions.
  8. Good morning or it would be if the bloody rain would stop.
  9. I know - Speedy on another forum. Causing quite a lot of angst!
  10. Dear God, I'm not giving advice to anyone. My opinion is mine and mine alone. I'm not going into a debate about fuels in which some people obviously have very strong opinions. I don't.
  11. My bike lives outside under a cover. No toasty garage for it until I go away when it shares accommodation with my son in law's bike. Ran the Ducati on E10 most of the time without any issues. Intend to run the Guzzi the same. It is a new model engine though. Guzzi's first water cooled one so it will probably blow up or something spectacular anyway.
  12. Someone's being a bit nit picky as riding a bike on an oil tanker would be pretty impossible and I doubt the company would pay for the freight. I ride it whenever I'm home regardless of the time of year so yes I do go out in all conditions. Not always because I really want to mind!
  13. Book ferry or tunnel as appropriate andhave a final destination in mind. If visiting family this will be fixed; if not it may change subject to weather or whim. Maybe book a hotel for first night as I don't camp if on bike. After that random chance of hotels. Stayed in somegood and some less so. If there's something I want to see I'll go and see it. If there's a particular route I want to ride I'll ride it. All very much random chance particularly when I'm on my own which is usual.
  14. Why I don't have a bike with carbs. Also I don't do winter layup unless it coincides with me going back to sea.
  15. My manufacturer's guide says quite clearly that using fuel additives will invalidate the warranty. New engine designed for E10 so I'm quite willing to follow their advice. Last bike I us3d to leave it fuelled up usually with E5 for up to 5 months and never had a problem starting it when I came home.
  16. Each to his own but not a part of the world I'd like to live. Do like Japan but by golly its expensive! Used to work with a German who lived in Lombok. He was a very average seaman but a world authority on silk worm moths and had discovered several new to science species in Lombok in the early 90's.
  17. Used to go there quite often but mainly Sumatra. Bonkers kind of place.
  18. Enjoying Indonesia then? Which island are you on?
  19. Merry Christmas to one and all. All of you working over the holiday period I hope have drama free shifts.
  20. All the Japanese and Korean shipyards sell this stuff by the bucket load. Actually quite good if you've been working hard in hot and humid climate.
  21. I do ride for fun in winter. Pick the right day and it's pretty awesome. Last Friday was a case in point. Modern gear keeps me warm and dry including riding for 4 solid hours in heavy rain from Gloucestershire to Northumberland. I'll not ride in ice and don't go looking for snow. Occasionally get caught out in it and if far from home or my destination will look for shelter.
  22. Wonder how many takes it took to get that video. Awesome.
  23. Nice to know there are still some civilised folks around. Sometimes if all you believe is the various press its like we are in a new Dark Ages. Overhyped as usual.
