1. Thanks fastbob what’s in clover in fixing it? JRH i look forwards to getting her a geared fifty in a little over a decade, if she want one :/)
2. That’s my wee lass, she is ace and I want her to grow up thinking that she can do this sort of stuff she loves it, mostly because she likes her overalls
3. Ok , must be entirely automatic . Do you have a reserve switch though ? Not that I know of, I have the lights blink at me to say I have low fuel and I go get some. I’ll go through the owners book and manual tomorrow to make sense of it. The air filter I will do once I take a load of fuel out by riding and I will take pictures of what I find when I get to it
4. Okay fastbob regardijh at tap there was something that looked like a button was pushed in by the seat being in place but could not see any turning style tap stop cock type thing. I’ll go through the manual a bit more and see what I can work out. There is not an exposed tap to be able to put on reserve or anything like that.
5. Thanks Rich. Will do. Probably when I do a spring time take it all off and apart to see how it works an clean it.
6. I love it when I can post in here Today I changed the oil and the oil filter on my bike. I intended to change the air filter too but when taking the full tank off I could not stop the fuel dripping out of the ‘out pipe’ and I had just filled it up (lesson learned) so could not tilt it to stop it dripping so abandon ship on that. I did learn that although the manual says to undo the two bolts holding the tank at the back it is easier to take the frame they are bolted into out than get to those two bolts. Then I try to change the rear brake light switch. That was tough and the connector/wires seemed to have joined together in corrosion causing for the wire from the batter to the connector (bike side as opposed to switch side) has snapped. Now I have to mend that, do I have to run new wire from wherever it comes from to that connector or can I extend what is there using another connector or chocolate block? I’ll ask in pitstop at some point. Some photos
7. Hello lovely people, I have a managed to change the oil and the oil filter and now moving onto air filter. I have a new one, do I need to soak it in oil if it is new? My Haynes says to soak a cleaned one in SE or SF SAE30 oil? Which I don’t have. I can get some I just don’t know what to do? Thanks for the help.
8. Okay we are all on the same page, I thought the expectation of someone doing all the work was a bit rude.
9. Where was Fastbob rude? I looked back through and cannot see something I read as rude.
10. Planning to change the oil and air filter on my bike. Replace the rear brake light switch if the generic one I bought fits and inspect spark plugs and brake pads. Also clean the bike. I shall be assisted by my five year old and father in law hopefully Also visiting my litter sister and her three kids on Sunday.
11. Does it make a difference that that is for a drum brake? Thanks all for your contributions
12. Thanks Rich. Is there any other possible cause?
13. Brake light works on front lever pull but not on rear pedal use. Is that likely to be the switch?
14. I rode her back from Coventry where I left her on Friday night. That was a challenging and interesting ride!
15. I bought second hand on EBay, Heinz Gerrick I think. I had bought cheap new textiles before and they were crap. I got trousers and a jacket for less than one hundred pounds. I also have ordinary waterproof trousers I wear over the top for winter commutes and so far I have remained dry in even really bad conditions. To even up my chances in really cold weather I wear layers, it’s not unusual for me to have another coat on under my textile jacket. I would choose second hand over cheaper brand new again.
16. What do you mean dynax ?
17. I do not wear a Polite vest or own one but I do struggle to see what is the problem with them?
18. Does it have a kill switch?
19. Whatever your instructor uses. Suzuki Gladius, Honda CB600 I have heard of being used by schools.
20. Value can be a part of whether something is best though.
21. Coventry has done well! That’s the best I have seen it.
