Is the ballache of potential thefts worth having a motorcycle ?
husoi replied to Drifter86's topic in Motorbike Chat
As @Tiggie says you need to make the bike secure so it deter potential thieves. A secure bike will take longer to steal and thieves are opportunistic and will prefer easier ones. If the parking is permanent I would suggest an anchor added to what was said. If is worth the risk vs the enjoyment that is a personal choice and you're the only one who can say what is your best choice. -
And people are worried about privacy and ID cards...

And how much they love a sharp knife... Always ready to start cutting everywhere.

Yeah, but still an eegit.. The second one was fine and explained why he was advising the new ones. When a doctor asks you "How are you?" when you walk in the consultation room, you know that he isn't the sharpest in the box...

I hate when I'm right!!! Months ago told my GP that he should change my happy meds. For over 1 year I've been in pain relief drugs and around 6 months ago I told him that he should prescribe something a wee bit stronger so I can have longer intervals. But what do I know about my body and meds??? Yesterday, because been on happy drugs for so long I went to see Dracula and have some blood tests. This morning got a call of one of the other doctors saying that I need to stop the ones I'm on and have a stronger ones so I can have a longer interval between intakes.. PHOOKING EEGIT!!!!!!!

Yeah. The reason behind it is to celebrate the fish (possibly haddock or cod). If you have charcoal grilled sardines you will only have boiled potatoes with it. With sardines you're supposed to eat them off a slice of bread so the oil and juices of the sardine goes into the bread which you will eat at the end

The bars and restaurants are still there and thriving. You will get the cheaper (used by locals) restaurants mixed with the pricey seafood and A la carte menu if you want and can afford it. One of the most emblematic are the "Cabrinha" (little goat) http://www.cabrinha.com.pt/home.php?sec=menu and "Atira-te ao rio" https://atirateaorio.com/ on the high end. The cheaper restaurants are usually in the very narrow street from the roundabout from the ferries to the right (coming from the ferry). You need to know where you're going or you will miss it. In there you have in excess of 15 "tascas" with great food with prices usually rounding €7 for a full meal. I can't advise which is the best just because has been a few years since I went there (2007) and things will have changed.

I'm not surprised @S-Westerly back then Lisnave was the largest dry dock in the world and the only place where the big girls could be serviced But that was in the 70's Just found an article saying that back in 2017 the gov has given green light for the development of the area. Then in this other article https://www.idealista.pt/news/imobiliario/habitacao/2019/02/14/38775-os-projetos-que-farao-de-almada-a-riviera-portuguesa Is saying that several international investors are already showing interest in the project. Not only the Lisnave yards will be transformed in a luxury complex with a marina but also it will include the "Cais do Gingal" this is the area west of the ferries to the base of the 25th April bridge. I'm pleased that the emblematic gantry crane will be part of the new development

You don't expect @Six30to be that knowledgeable in computers do you?

Nowadays all those are gone. Lisnave is now a cleared site, although the gantry crane is still there and no plans to remove it. Back in 2001 Almada council proposed to the government a development plan for the area but never took of. 2005 there was an article in an civil engineering journal praising the idea but knowing the Portuguese government it will only go ahead when the socialist party currently now in gov will win the council leadership. The "less salubrious" areas have been upgraded to really nice social areas.

East Scotland is fairly good weather now. According to forecast, a lot better than west side

Yes Banksy is an artist while this woman is a moron. Portugal have several graffiti artists that are known internationally, however there is a reason why none of them ever did anything similar. It is a national monument that many people immediately recognise, almost the same as the Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro or the liberty statue in NY. Certain places are not to be messed with.

Shame I'm in Scotland

Apparently flip-flops are in fashion this year

For as long it compensates to be a criminal thieves will always have a go. Make punishment harder than the crime and you will have these individuals thinking twice. One deterrent would be, instead of expensive jails in the UK that look more like a 3 star hotel. Send criminals to Thailand, Indonesia or the Philippines. You will see how fast crime level will drop. Think about spending 6 months in a prison in Thailand...

Well. For the looks of it someone will be facing justice. The title below translates as: "Judicial Police (PJ) (Portuguese police that deals with criminal acts) is searching for Leila Lakel, a French art student whom vandalized the "Padrao dos Descobrimentos"" According to Portuguese news agencies the French woman has done other vandalizing acts similar to this one across the world. This brainless tw@t even recorded a video of the graffiti with the comment at the end "It's done. Goodbye Lisbon." She then deleted the account but not in time allowing PJ to identify the culprit. Mainly by the signature left LIA which has allowed Portuguese authorities to link this idiot to other graffiti in other locations. PJ is now in pursuit of the student and will deploy EU mechanism for an arrest warrant to bring her to justice. For this act alone she will be facing a maximum jail sentence of 5 years with a minimum of 600 days penalty. Being identified for other international crimes she will be facing prosecution on other countries. Polícia Judiciária está em busca de Leila Lakel, a estudante de arte francesa que vandalizou o Padrão dos Descobrimentos Now.... Can anybody explain me how a art student (I know she's French..) does this type of crime on a art monument?

THIS REFLECTS MY PERSONAL VIEWS ONLY I strongly defend freedom of expression and any form of repression should be banned regardless of the subject. Having said that... I would like to meet (as for sure many other people would) the brainless, moronic, low life, waste of space and oxygen tw@t that did this to one of the Portuguese monuments... This monument was first built in 1940 and later rebuilt with permanent materials in 1960. It marks the 500 year anniversary of the death of the Infant D. Henrique, the main force for the Portuguese sea travels around the world (being his statue the first from the left). Regardless of individual opinions, and I'm not arguing who is correct, when I don't like a monument because it represents something I don't agree with, I just don't visit the place. Nothing gives the right to damage others' cultural monuments. Unfortunately, our planet is full of these idiots and this is just another idiotic event following many others. Fortunately, and thanks to a technology very common in the Portuguese restauration industry, the monument was completely cleaned by 00:14 today (10/8/21) less than 2 days after the vandals despicable actions. https://padraodosdescobrimentos.pt/2021/08/limpeza-concluida-0014/

Get his name, that is a honorary TOTY

Not to mention the "legal" side of it. Your insurer will discard any claims on the base that your bike is not fitted with recommended tyres. Michelin are great tyres and they perform very well in the Scottish wet weather.

Correct me if I'm wrong (or if you dare ) but... Doesn't bluetooth works to 10m range if nothing in between? You walk 10m out and there is no connection. Still prefer my normal steel disk lock with the ugly bright yellow coil so I don't forget to remove it
