  1. Tell him you have someone living not far and will pick it up for you
  2. Same reason people go to Aldi.... Compare quality with price and is as expensive as Waitrose.

Yeah not a beemer but.... is even worse.
  5. Punctures on a motorbike are as welcome as a fart on a space suit but sooner or later you will come to one. Would this be the solution?
  6. Hope you enjoy your trip. Don't forget, we love pics in here
  7. A bike cover in the Shetlands???? Are you nuts??? Will be like having a kite. Get a bit of wind and it will get blown over.
  8. Choosing a bike is like choosing a girlfriend. Would you ask for advice or you go for what is best for you and for what you like?
  9. Just got out of the webchat from OneCall.. Renewal offer from £133 to 110 and reduced excess from £450 to £50 including EU breakdown cover Grove and dean going to call me because I have my other bike with them. Their quote is standing at £102 with £250 excess and EU breakdown Always worth talking to them and make sure they bring the cost down
  10. Shetlands are very small islands. If anyone would think about nicking your bike won't go far. For insurance purposes you maybe need a disk lock but even that will be an overkill If your bike disappears from where you left it I bet you will find it by the pub I'm sure your chain will weight less than a pillion so that will be fine. The weights on luggage boxes refers to the limit (overstated) that the box would be able to support. If you exceed the capacity by a few kg you will be fine as long the weight is well balanced. I find the distribution of total weight more important than the stated capacity.
  11. Maybe they will split e-bikes in 2 groups Li-on batteries and AAA batteries powered bikes
  12. I would be tempted to experiment with SS316 and nickel plating on top.
  13. Measured the shadow and made a template for new saddlebags. Then, because I am riding tomorrow, went to check the tyres pressure. Found that I have a puncture on the rear. No biggie, got the diy plugs and got to work. Made an arse of myself and managed to fully insert the plug into the tyre and remove the plunger without the plug. Then had to go to the garage to get the puncture repaired properly and spend 20 quid. Got home with the repaired tyre. cleaned the brake drum and the axle. all cleaned up and fitted together. Rear pressure to the point. Front tyre, was a little but on the low side so got it to the correct pressure to find out 2 big cracks on the wall of the tyre Means a new tyre to be ordered and hoping that tomorrow won't get into problems. That's the result of the bike being years without running and now with a good mileage on the tyres gave up..
  14. Try cleaning the phone's cache.
  15. Once bikes can have a range of 150 miles I will replace the shadow with one of them. Unfortunately, touring on an e-bike is still out of the question.
  16. Depends on the SS grade. For sure that is nothing close to SS 316 or SS316L will be the most common grade that have a higher resistance to corrosion and that provides a good durability. These are known as Austenitic steels https://www.ulbrich.com/blog/overcoming-saltwater-corrosion-with-stainless-steel/ further info https://nickelinstitute.org/media/1667/designguidelinesfortheselectionanduseofstainlesssteels_9014_.pdf
  17. Pointless change. Once bikes start being electric that will be all redundant.
  18. In Scotland? Yeah right... Takes almost 1 minute just for the card machine to connect to the network.
  19. Back home he would say: "DDDAAAAAA-SSEEEE!!!!" (meaning F@@@@@@@@@@CK!)
  20. Did you calculate the wages? even if you allow minimum wage for all 92 employees 92ppl X £7.5/hr X 37hr/wk X 52 weeks = 1,327,560 which makes just under 40% of total revenue. This not accounting for any tax You would also need to consider running costs. To date and that I know of, only B.A.C.A. is run 100% volunteering without claimed expenses of any sort. All funds are dedicated for services directly to the kids. Show me another charity with this record and I'll gladly volunteer my time to them. "Don't comment and move on..."?? Really? miss the opportunity to chip in and start an argument?

    Scotland 2021

Knowing Scots around here I would be surprised if didn't happened yet.
  22. Keep in mind that since Brexit EU licenses are no longer valid in UK as exchange the same way it was before. So I would think that there are legal implications in getting an insurance with an alien license. I don't understand why he had to take a new test as it would have been possible to exchange his license from any EU country into a UK full license.
  23. With Shadow's insurance running out on the 20th Aug time has come to start looking into renewal. Unfortunately Bikesure (and you all know how supportive I am for the forum) with a figure of £156 they took themselves out of the race. At the moment the best contender is MCE with just over £91. These idiots have a stupid 2miles awy and 20 miles recovery distance. I'll tell them where they can stick the quote... Both include for breakdown (UK) and all the legal expenses. This is first go with money supermarket Next will be looking at other comparison sites and see where it goes. New contender, same as the ST1300 Grove & Dean with EU breakdown cover as default. just over £100

What still surprises me is having restaurants in touristic areas that are closed on Saturdays and open for a few hours on Sundays.
