  1. I would say for you to get a trail type, Africa twin or the like. They are really good teachers and forgiving when you go mental on the brakes. Height will allow you to see further and hopefully see trouble before gets in your way. They are also more comfortable than sports. Once you're comfortable with riding then you can upgrade to a sport bike. Personally I would upsize gradually instead of jumping on a killer machine.
  2. Have you tried brake or carb cleaner?
  3. I usually just open the visor 1 notch and let the air flow do its thing
  4. I'm on a strick diet. Never more than one deep fried mars bar a month
  5. This summer would like to go back to Croatia. This time over the Alpes through Switzerland without the trailer
  6. Unfortunately that crap idea of black Friday and cyber Monday is nothing more than a scam. They put up prices from October to give the impression that you're getting a bargain. What you're getting is the correct price you would get in September.
  7. You can't have windows on a bike can you?
  8. New place, New refurbishment Most to be done by others because I just can't be arsed. Probably hire a container and ship the bikes abroad and move to warmer weather Sell the place after the works and make a wee bit of a profit. Say a 18 months plan
  9. Phoking moronic low life brainless tw@ts who run the stupid IDL Used to be as simple as. Take one photo from the photo boot, your driving license pay £5.50, wait 10min and you got yourself a useless international driving license. Now you have to go to a specific paypoint, the same documents plus they demand you to have your passport with you. No nonsense of a perfectly valid ID card. Oh no, we don't even know what the f@ck that is... Must be a passport because that's what we were told and we need to tick the phoking box. Because that's what they do. Idiotic box tickers
  10. It's the case that the car passenger is far more protected than on a bike. Obviously insurance love risk so they can charge you 10 times more

    Fused lead query

If you don't have a battery tender you won't need it connected. However, of your bike have any kind of alarm or something that uses the battery when you're not riding, as example of Honda's H.I.S.S. then you really need one. Something like this https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/46459
  12. Maybe it was said before. Obviously I'm not that crazy to go reading everything Lower power and lower cc will be the better option regarding the bike. Loads of fairings will also make the insurance more expensive. But that isn't the largest factor in the extortionate premiums you will find. Your age For how long you had your license Address Where the bike is kept overnight and during the day Use of the bike commuting and parking on the road at work will be even worse Age of the bike Your profession And likely some more that I haven't mention.
  13. Well done you. Maybe a bit late, there is no known cure for bike bug bite Unless you get married to a biker hater
  14. When I moved from London to Scotland I bought a dvd player for my daughter. Curry's apparently have the obligation to communicate with TV license thieves when someone buys any TV equipment. I actually didn't have a problem with it. Before that I updated the address for the TV license online which was in the name of my ex so she could have a proof of address. A few weeks later got a pleasant letter stating that I had bought some TV equipment and I didn't have a license and would be fined £1000 if I didn't get one. I wrote back with a similar pleasant letter saying that I was finding it very odd but if they would send me a check of £500 I would investigate it thoroughly and would report the results within 2 weeks. They even replied saying they don't operate that way. And they wouldn't be paying for me to do anything for them. Funny thing, never heard from them again
  15. See the bright side. You get a crap jacket half price Not long ago someone bought a cheap manual wood planner. To find out it was 2.5in long
  16. Try throwing it off the window. Maybe it will fly
  17. In the price you have included the cabin and you're allowed in the ship The biggest advantage is definitely you're traveling while you sleep. Nice and fresh arrival at 9am the next day. They usually have live entertainment if you want to stay up a bit longer and listen to someone pretending to be singing while you have a nice pint. Can't do that while riding can you?
  18. For me works a treat. Saves me 6hrs riding to Dover and then ferry without sleep and spend the night either side. Hull - Rotterdam you will sleep while the ferry reaches the continent
  19. I had the bailiffs once for £35 from BT. Then I send the invoice for 10k of lost revenue because I couldn't use the internet. Never heard from them again
  20. One of the advantages of living in Scotland Always take the ferry in Hull and travel overnight to Rotterdam.
  21. Sounds like a broken strand yes As @Micklysays, remove the cables and inspect it for damaged strand. Could be something (dried oil or dried grease) inside the cable housing thingy. A good wash with plenty wd40 or carb/brake cleaner won't go a miss followed by some silicone oil to lubricate it before returning the cables in.
  22. Almost forgot something really important. A eye wash bottle. You don't want to ride your bike if a wee bug got into your eyes
  23. Yep. You can get a disposable kit with 2 of them for a couple quid. Quality is questionable but you won't be using it anyway. One of those idiotic EU laws...
  24. I always take trainers for the longer walks Sunscreen that you can buy there, sunglasses obviously V05 is a must and the green card from your insurance France law demands anyone who have correction glasses to have a spare pair. Hiviz vest is a hit and miss, one day is mandatory the next isn't Replacement bulbs kit and breathalyser kit All that available in Amazon for reasonable price Don't forget the UK sticker or whatever is the designation nowadays.
  25. I would go back all the time and when paying would comment if they were mistaken and confused you with the owner of the largest vehicle in the court They would ask me to not go back.
