  1. That's the main reason for wearing hear defenders in industrial spaces where loud noise may occur. Some people would consider that as not cool but it can save you from a long stay in hospital and on sick leave not counting to permanent hearing loss that can very well happen. I'm not a H&S maniac, however, in some instances they are actually correct.
  2. I would say that's a domestic theory of big bang in practice
  3. Sweden had (not sure nowadays) highway code at primary school and all the way to secondary. By the time kids were old enough to have a license they will be experts on all the rules and culture on the road. Advanced driving should be the norm and not the exception to the whole of UK. They are likely on of the safest drivers/riders in Europe. Then getting the license would be much easier.
  4. Removing the fairings from the Pan to give it a good wash then do the ACF50 Prepare the Shadow for MOT on Tue

    Help with insurance

Use 2 or 3 comparison websites. I got a renewal offer of £101 then got a £66 from a different provider. You need to make this a regular routine, search thoroughly and experiment with the different options before commit to a contract. A friend have an weird insurance where the policy is just to make it legal to be on the road but have no cover?!?!?! I didn't even know this existed. The high premium is usually due to new rider lack of experience, or a long interval between insurances. Location also impacts, where the bike is stored during the night, security devices, etc.
  6. Is it me or this forum is getting a wee bit camp?
  7. After placing a order I was offered this link to share the discount. Enjoy Autodoc discount
  8. I'm not a Scot Just live here because of the lovely weather... and midges
  9. In theory the engine should be stop using the ignition key. This because the stand switch isn't manufactured to withstand frequent abrupt cut of current at the ignition system. That switch, similar to the neutral and clutch switch are meant to be used as warning/prevention to start the bike if the bike is in gear or the stand is extended. When opening a live circuit there is a release of a small spark while the 2 contacts are close enough (microns) to allow the current to cross the air. This little spark will damage the contacts in time, it could be a very long time however, it will happen. On the other hand, the ignition switch (when properly manufactured) is designed to reduce the spark occurrence and is designed to endure a larger number of operations. This is all theoretical and it would take thousands of operations to make a difference.
  10. If they sell 20,000 cars and each spare costs £100... It's all money in their pocket.
  11. Or at least we wouldn't have social media to brag about it
  12. Just found these guys. Prices are really good both for cars and bikes. You can download a phone app. They have loads of how to clips. Motorbike spare parts cheaply in the online motorcycle parts shop (autodoc.co.uk)
  13. Did it once. Not doing it again. Although went to an hostel in Poland but had private room with shared bathroom. Because I wake up very early I had no problem about waiting for someone leaving it. Still better a Airbnb if touring. Better rates than b&b
  14. If you dismantle the calipers to service the pistons you should have replaced the fluid completely. For the sound of it you left the old fluid in the brake line which by now have contaminated the new one. My advice. get the calipers apart (again) give it a clean (again) Clean (and service if not done yet) the master cylinder This for front and rear wheels. Luckily you don't have a CBS so this is not too hard to do. Personally I always replace the break fluid with methylated alcohol to give the lines a good clean and then add the new fluid until all is clear and air free. Depending on the master cylinder shape, it's possible that you will have to turn it in a way that the air trapped in the banjo will go to the reservoir to remove any air from the system. as said before, some times leaving it over night allows air to go all the ay up and go to the reservoir or stay trapped in the upper banjo. In case you're wondering, banjo is the connector at the end of the brake line Repairs on motorbikes always follow the principle that you do it cheap and you will do it twice...
  15. Letter to the MD of renova and puppies, well know of toilet paper. Let them deal with the details. Dear sir, I'm writing to you to help your great company in a well know issue. Because it seems no solution is at sight, and because indirectly I will be a beneficiary from the idea I require no reward for it. In short, you have a problem similar to other companies and I'm certain that should you decide to cooperate between yourselves not only both industries would gather great reputation but also an increase of sales. The idea is in fact a simple one and I'm surprised that nobody have thought of it. We all know the weak point in toilet paper is how easily tear off in the least opportune moments. So, why not trade engineers between your company and any packaging counterpart? I can assure you that not only you would create a more resistant paper while packaging would become far easier to open. Best regards Me
  16. Still a barge with beds and 1000s of people around you. Plus the danger of ending on a desert island with no bike?

    Mrs

Any hidden loose clamps? Maybe exhaust fixing? Ideally a clip showing the noise could help to identify the problem.
  18. Not only acting as mudguards. they also have a aerodynamic effect.
  19. Depends on what parts you change when servicing the forks Simple oil change I would say every year with service. If replacing bushes and other parts I would inspect every 2 or 3 years with annual oil change.
  20. By the way. It's a good thing to be able to download the highway code. My comment is that an interactive app where you could actually apply what you're learning would be more captive and interesting than just a long text. Can't see a teenager reading it all the way through. I wouldn't....
