  1. So here we are,,, I have handlebar mounts for my Garmin's for my bicycles and Garmin mounting plates are cheap as chips on Amazon.... So just to remind folk of the original premise ... the Himma has a clock on the instrument binnacle but the figures are <5mm high ... I can't see them even with my glasses on. So this is my solution ...
  2. There where a row of cherry trees along side our local Asda .... they where selling punnets of cherries for £2.99 as me and the kids where standing on the back of my truck picking fat juicy black cherries for free !!! Although the next year they produced no fruit and haven't since ....
  3. The centre of Rotherham is the home to large quantities of our eastern European friends, refugees etc ... in an an area, sometimes referred to, as Eastwoodistan. Not for them prepackaged fruit when it grows on trees. I often see whole families stripping apple, pear, green gage and plum trees that grow along the canal ... they take the food away in sacks .... Good for them ...
  4. Behind our house is a ribbon forest planted by the local council some 20 years ago .... there is a 5 metre gap between our fence and the forest edge in which we planted 2 apple trees, which over the years have produced the years apple sauce for the pork roasts ... We leave the apples late to pick and yesterday was the day ... Gone, stripped of all fruit ,,, not an apple on the ground or to be seen, so not kids ..... Curses ..... We're off to find one of the many hedgerow apple trees today to restore our apple sauce stocks from .... on the Himma of course ... any excuse
  5. Railway is OK ... Interesting and pays the bills ..... I did this for 23 years before trains .... much more fun ...
  6. To add to the blunt instruments wrapped in towels you have been carrying for a while now ... and those two bottles of paint stripper wrapped in cling film .. alledgley ....
  7. so how olds your son ? Meoww .... So my youngest girl has the family classic car ... Hillman Avenger .... not perfect, but better than a moggy... On her way back from Uni in Dundee she calls up and says " the brakes make a grinding noise when i use them" Pads have gone ... "Call the AA' say I.. She turns up 12 hours later .... No AA callout ... She found a small backstreet car spares shop in Berwick.. asked the man what she had to do ...she jacked the car up, took the wheels off, one at a time obviously, replaced the pads, as he had told her, outside his shop ... and drove home .... .... Result !! My eldest girl would have sold the car, bought drugs, and turned up 6 months later in the back of a police car ... Kids today ...
  8. Wifes gone to her sisters ... you watch Solaris with a good bottle of scotch ... you sleep well .... You wander down stairs in the morning and the living room is caked in semi naked 17 and 18 year old girls...... AAGGGGHHHH What ever you will be wrong ,,,, you make sure your daughter is ok ... in her bed ,,, good You tiptoe down stairs helmet in hand .... stop it !! Crash helmet ... Try not to look at the semi naked drunk sleeping girls ... well don't try too hard as you know your daughter is not among them .... Ride away ......... hoping heart will return to sensible rate soon ..... Give it a year or 2 and you are so used to semi naked girls being about the place you just kick them, feed them coffee, and phone their mums ... Mums .... now their the pretty ones .....
  9. If you've ever travelled on one of these ... ( 2 x 220 Voyagers "multiple working" ) ... ?? It doesn't slide through Red signals or over run the platforms because of our automatic traction control systems .... we spray sand in quantities dependant on speed between the wheels and the rail head ...
  10. We're "On the Rail " I survey and observe testing of traction control systems on passenger rolling stock and on track plant .. Here's one we did earlier ... I'm the Design Authority for the equipment we install .... which in real world terms means ... Me and Mick design the systems, with help on the software from Alex, Chris and his team install them, and I sign them off as safe back into traffic ... No pressure then ...lol
  11. WELL .... all depends on what you class as a commute. It's Thursday .. I've ridden on the mighty Himma to work each day this week. I'm based in Rotherham; Monday .. Burton -on -Trent. Tuesday .. Derby. Wednesday .. Newport, Wales. Thursday .. Preston. I'm stopping overnight in Preston as we had a long day. Friday .. Preston, Harrogate, Rotherham. Most weeks involve a round robin between ... Newcastle, Derby, Bournemouth, Bristol, Dartford ... once a month Edinburgh .. Every 2 months ..Inverness. It's my commute ....
  12. I do old skool directions taped to the tank as well, but it all goes tits up if you take a wrong turn, miss a junction or have to follow a diversion So you get lost ... great joy .....
  13. I use "Cycle Travel" ... strangely for cyclists .. for i am one ... It avoids motorways and allows either pdf mapping print offs in strip format or route directions in print only ... I cut them out and place them in the clear pocket on my tank bag ....It's free ... and easy to use .... " This is the way " Mandolorian ...
  14. I fell asleep on my MZ 300 travelling back from RAF Marham to RAF Wattisham after a long shift that finished at 2am.. Went up the embankment at the side of the dual carriageway just west of Ipswich came to a stop and fell off. I was unhurt and the bike was ok so i took off my helmet and went to sleep ... as you do .. Terrified female police officer woke me up about 4 hours later ... she thought i was dead ...
  15. I lean when driving around corners in the car .... or so the wife tells me after she has stopped laughing ....
  16. We couldn't find anyone selling wooden crosses which we plant every year so my big lad made me one. To the memory of John Gostick and Tim Bell, I strapped them in, did the start and pre flights, gave them a cheery wave as they taxied out ... And carried Tims coffin, containing god knows what. They hit Mt. Usborne at 600mph 23 Sqdn Royal Air Force, Phantom FGR2, Falkland Islands Air Defence, 1983 Even now I have tears in my eyes ..............................
  17. Rotherham ... it's grim up north ... Not a bad crowd including our local Labour MP Dennis Healy and a number of Councillors ... and 2 very heavily armed Police officers and 4 unarmed Police officers ... who remained disengaged from the parade ... as they should. British Legion had a chap blow the whistle at the appointed time and when it finished ... Sorry about the photo edit all ... seems the chap that was videoing was a member of the EDL, part of a group of EDL supporters at the Cenotaph that we have to put up with in Rotherham .... which is why we had the heavy Police presence. They behaved well and respectfully.
  18. Looking forward to my first challenge ..... Got my number sheet ready for use ... Many thanks for organising this ..... Last 3 of my service number ....

  21. Not relevant to who, not relevant to you, to me ... to the mods .... they moderate not censor ... their not the Tory party .....
  22. Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the pipe lagging one .... However this is what i ended up with ..... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T6HT7QT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Using a standard handlebar Garmin fitting held on by O-Rings and the above fitting my watch is installed. There is a clock on the Himalayan instrument binnacle but it's too small for me to see !!
  23. I need a clip or fitting to attach a Casio watch .. with the strap removed ... to the handlebars ...or a Garmin male fitting i can stick to the back of the watch to use a standard Garmin cycle mount ....... any ideas ?
  24. Not seen it .... is it available on any other format apart from Apple TV
