    NT1100?

I find the electronic suspension on the GS invaluable as it simplifies adjustment for different riding requirements. Losing it wouldn’t be a deal breaker, though.

    NT1100?

I originally bought my Tiger 1050SE with a view to touring solo, as I always had to that point. Then my OH discovered that she also enjoyed touring. She doesn’t pack light either, and the Tiger panniers were inadequate, so part of the reason for buying the FJR, before the GS.

    NT1100?

A good point. So the search continues…

    NT1100?

I’ve developed a strong antipathy towards high level exhausts due to their intrusion into the luggage space.

    NT1100?

It’s the one that ticks more boxes than the alternatives. It all started when a Triumph Tiger 660 Sport review appeared on my Social Media and one thing led to another…

    NT1100?

Finding myself with an hour or two to spare I made the mistake of filling my time perusing bike reviews. This turned into a “what will I replace my current bike with?” session. Now I’m looking at my finances to see how, not if, I can afford the replacement.
  7. The neighbours have popped down to chew the cud…
  8. Best. Honda VFR800fi (the R1200GS runs it a very close second). Worst. Honda CBX750 (the FJR1300 runs it a close second). Wish I’d kept. 1983 Honda CX500:Eurosport.
  9. That journey didn’t go well. Lots of traffic issues on the M6 today. fingers crossed for a better return journey tomorrow.
  10. As I recall, when the Norfolk group was founded, the trickiest bit was having enough tutors. The Suffolk group were very supportive as were the Norfolk Road Safety team, but Norfolk needed to become self-sufficient in short order. A few of us had been observers with the IAM so the initial core of tutors had a reasonable start (I was already planning to relocate to Cumbria so was utilised to do cross-checks and mock-tests).
  11. Good morning. I’m off to the Midlands today, visit my daughter, stay overnight, and bring my mum home for Christmas. Hopefully the M6 will be clear… (fat chance).
  12. I wanted to go to Japan when I was young, if only to to train at the Kodokan. Too old and unfit for that now…
  13. Fingers crossed all goes well for you.
  14. Sorry for your loss @Mississippi Bullfrog.
  15. I got £10 from the Department or Work and Pensions. Paid for, no doubt, by all you hard working tax payers. So thank you and Merry Christmas to one and all.
  16. This was from last night… looking towards Dumfries.
  17. I have a frozen pipe that feeds our outside tap to deal with. Luckily I managed to isolate it. That’s a springtime task… sod sorting it out on this weather.
  18. It’s warming up here to around to slightly above freezing. The difference it makes to our draughty old place* is significant. *slightly less draughty after coughing up to have the sash windows double glazed and draught proofed.
  19. It’s been a consistent -3° to -6° For the last week in this bit of Cumbria. The river Irthing has mostly frozen over at Lanercost.
  20. I’m probably a bit late to this party (quelle surprise)… but. Here y’go.

    Where????

We based ourselves just outside Zell Am See for a week back in 2014. It was probably a couple of days too many as we found ourselves covering the first few miles on each ride several times. Kinda tedious. However, as a location, it would probably provide you with the sort of roads you describe - and easy access to the Grossglockner (OK, it’s an expensive toll road and has hairpins but, what a road!). I’m sure we barely scratched the surface of what the Tyrol has to offer - we intend to return.
  22. Bonnie Tyler summed it up. “Lost in France”… possibly the Col de Champs. Fabulous road.
  23. Good evening. It’s been a while - life got a bit busy so I may have to do some catching up… anything of note I should look back upon. Busy life? Since I was last here I seem to have acquired two grandchildren, moved house (not mine, one of the kids moved house on the same day as she was having child - long story - so my OH and I ended up doing the move for her. I’m currently sitting in a hotel in the French Alps after riding down over the last couple of days. We’ll be touring for another ten days before returning. Sod’s law, the weather forecast is for continuous rain. Bugger.
  24. A mate of mine takes his RT there and recommends them.
