  1. Been looking at the waterproof version for a while. Everytime I discuss this with my wallet though it just keeps laughing at me!! Nice boots mate.
  2. Aye, count me in!!
  3. The chest protection is about 12mm thick. It's not actually too bad for thickness, but gets in the way. Did a simulated shoulder check in the shop and it just seemed to catch under my arm and shove itself into my collar bone. Shame really.
  4. Was going to buy a Knox one which was part of a Back protector setup. Tried it on in the shop, but could just not get on with it. This is the one I was going to get. http://www.motorcycle-store-online.com/ ... p-104.html In the end I just got the standard back protector. Each to their own I guess, but I found it just got in the way.
  5. Hi Mate Newbies always welcome mate. Don't worry about it with us lot. I was petrified on my first ride out, but was made to feel really welcome and not pressured in to riding fast... No bad thing, as I am still slow!! Like Vicki said, MFN ain't too far. Worth a visit on a Wednesday night mate. Not really a rideout as we stand around chatting before heading off again, but worth it to get to know a few of us. viewtopic.php?t=13780&start=45 Plus me and one of the other members (TC) are organising a good rideout in a few weeks. Check it out. viewtopic.php?t=14325 I think my group is closer than TC's so you can join me if you want.
  6. Eek. Sounds like you were lucky mate!! Did you hit something with the front wheel then? Kerb?
  7. We would be happy to meet anyone in Matlock, or close to MFN (Near Ikea in Nottingham). It's a good night. Loads of bikes, a bar, and a good burger bar...... Well a burger bar anyway!!
  8. What actually happened mate?
  9. Sounds good to me mate. Off all week, so I can be there at any time. Anyone else up for it? Any newbies or people that want to try MFN for the first time!!??
  10. Will probably be there on Wednesday. Happy to meet and ride down. TC, Phil, if you want to meet at the C&F and ride across, would be happy to!! Willow, if you interested let me know, and we / I will meet up with you as well!!
  11. Shame because it's a nice idea. You could half surprise her with this though. Tell her you need to get a helmet fitted for her. Get the make, model, and size she wants, then take it off her to get it custom sprayed. Another downside is that helmets don't last forever.... Would still make a good present though. Would love it myself. Jacket would be nice as well. Portrait of her on her bike. A good idea might be to just turn round and ask what she wants that's bike related and tell her how much she has to spend. That sort of money handed to a biker is a dream!!!
  12. Going to be heading through Matlock and up to the C&F tomorrow. Might be going through Clay Cross near Chesterfield as well. Anyone fancies meeting for a ride and / or a coffee let me know!!
  13. Wore it for the first time today while on a ride and it's great. Really comfy and totally unrestrictive. Would recommend one to anyone!!!!
  14. Been thinking about going for a couple of years really, just for the experience. Can't make that weekend though unfortunately.
  15. Very true. Get an Alpinestar Jacket and this might fit in it!! viewtopic.php?t=14335 Shameless plugging!!
  16. The tests are done on parts of the helmet that very rarely actually take a hit in an accident. It's a guide to a certain extent, but not perfect in anyway!! I agree... Apparently one good reason is so you can have a ciggie without taking your lid off!! Wind noise is sometimes a problem with lift up fronts as well.
  17. Ahhhhhhhhhh booger!!! Never mind mate. Sounds like once your mate has finished though your bike will be better than ever!!!! Every cloud and all that!!
  18. Looks like Sharp are testing them and should have results soon.... Personally I would take that result with a big pinch of salt though. They need to work on the testing system.
  19. My meeting point is... Another McDonalds. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en ... 9&t=h&z=16 My group is going to ride out to the C&F then come back stopping off at Matlock on our way through. Here is the route my group will be taking to the C&F. Some nice roads!! http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr ... 9&t=h&z=10
  20. Right then!!! Me and TC have been talking and decided to have 2 rideouts on the same day both meeting at the C&F at the same time..... This is gonna be a nightmare for me and him!!! TC will be taking charge of his side of the country, and I will be taking on my side of the country. If we get enough interest from down south then we might want someone to take control of that as well and create a 3rd rideout meeting at the C&F. Those from ooooop North can join either my rideout or TC's. Newbies and 125'ers.... Please don't be put off. We were all in your situation at some point. I only met this bunch on my first rideout at the end of April when I had only just got my bike. I never felt pressured to ride fast, and was made to feel incredibly welcome. You will have a great time!!
  21. Got the back protector from a local bike shop mate. Cost £99.99. Following on from what Pete said I would make sure it's fitted correctly, and I would say both are as good as each other to be honest. Just make sure that if you get one you go with your jacket. Would be a real bitch if you buy one then realise you can't zip up your jacket with it on afterwards. Knox, Alpinestar, and Forcefield are all good. They are all CE approved, and some of them are CE Level 2 (Currently the highest level of approval). Used the paddock stand today. Makes checking the front tyre a whole lot easier!!! Monkey. Get a back protector mate, they are just as important as a helmet in my eyes. Break your back in the wrong place and it won't matter how protective your helmet is, your brain won't be able to send signals to your arms and legs to make them move!! God I am a right preachy bast*rd about this!!
  22. Hmmmm... Never heard of mate, but that is a nice looking helmet!! Kinda reminds me of Roof Helmets.
  23. Bought myself a Knox Back Protector. Very comfy and fits perfectly under my leathers!!! http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6956/dsc00275kz7.jpg And a front paddock stand. http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/3337/dsc00274nl6.jpg
  24. Sounds great TC. I will try and figure out how to put this route on Google Maps mate and post a link up.
  25. Might simply need a bit of clutch cable adjustment.... Not technical though so have booger all idea how to do it. You might want to try a trick I learnt on here once. When you want to change from 1st to 2nd. Pull clutch in Push gear stick up with foot BUT keep foot under gear stick still forcing the gear stick up. Let clutch out. As the clutch comes out you might feel the gear get pushed in by your foot still applying pressure to the gear stick. I do it on all gears, and it never lets me down. Only thing I am worried about is that if it is a more serious problem this could cause your bike to be pushed into 2nd if it still only drops in to Neutral. If you arn't prepared for it, it might be a very scary moment, so be careful if you do try it mate.
