  1. Thanks for the write-up - glad you've got your CBT certificate. IMO the instructor was poor! You paid good money for the training you wanted, not to be told to do something different just to suit other people!! I wouldn't go back there for big bike training!!
  2. Submitted my team!!!!
  3. Yes, I thing Roy is gonna sort out a TMBF league again this year - watch this space!!!!!
  4. Judging from your previous posts I think the route you are taking is probably the best for you - get plenty of experience & boost your confidence The choice of bike sounds wise too (but I would say that ) If you buy carefully - get the best you can afford - then you should get a good return when you want to sell it. A decent 125 will hold it's value pretty well. If you feel more confident with someone following you then fine, but you need to make sure you don't spend your time thinking about them being behind you instead of concentrating on what you should be doing!! Regarding gear, I don't know much about the makes of stuff you mention but a couple of suggestions... a) try and get jacket & trousers by the same manufacturer then they will zip together, which will give you more protection against the weather and any possible spills. b) I would advise you to getting some proper bike boots - there is well documented evidence of what can happen if you come off without them! c) If you can only afford one pair of gloves - i.e not witer & summer ones, buy some middle of the range ones and use a liner in the colder weather.

    rev count

Yes, I'm with Tango - if I try & open the throttle on my bike before it is fully warmed up it will cut out!
  6. Most will. The majority of trainers are seasoned bikers so understand people's needs. If you're happy with the place you did your CBT that's great. We have heard stories of people being ripped off by being told they need more training than necessary, just to make money! Personally I'm still on a 125, choosing to get the experience before taking my test. It's swings & roundabouts really - cost of more lessons but licence more quickly V's cost of 125 & fewer lessons, but takes longer. Really depends on your choice of how you want to do it
  7. Moved here! I think it really depends on several factors... ...how competent your riding skills are, your road awareness i.e do you drive? Maybe go to where you did your CBT & see if they will do an assessed ride, and then they can inform you how much further training you might need
  8. Moved to Pitstop!
  9. Well done Throttled! Any chance you could edit your post to say where the pics are taken please? Might help others find them!
  10. The ones that fit you???!!! Seriously, the sizing in bike gear can vary between different manufacturers and seem to have little in common with normal clothes! It would be difficult for anyone to say what size would fit you. Your best bet is to go and try some on - different makes etc. You then might find something on ebay or online store.
  11. I don't have a CG but there's no way my bike would go if you did that, it would cut out as soon as you opened the throttle! Plus the fact that the choke lever is in such an awkward place it's difficult to find when riding. Mine is like Megawatt said - full choke, start bike & leave to run WITHOUT touching throttle, then less choke as the revs pick up on their own.
  12. Blaze of Glory - Bon Jovi
  13. Have a good read of this section of the forum & hopefully it'll be a bit clearer. If you're unsure of anything just ask
  14. Great stuff Lisa - you kept that one quiet!!!
  15. Something that you'd need to find out when choosing a campsite attached to a pub is if they allow people to take their own beer onto the site. When we were looking for Forum Rally venues last year, most of the pubs would not allow us to take our own beer onto the site, expecting us to buy from them.
  16. From what you're describing Alex, it sounds very like something we did a couple of years or so ago... http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... F+olympics which was combined with this... http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... F+olympics We all had a great weekend and was well supported. Have a read & you might find some ideas (and possibly some of the pitfalls) as to how/what to organise
  17. I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but if you're coming to a sudden stop (as in an emergeny) isn't it correct to pull in the clutch and stop in whatever gear you're in, THEN tap down throught the gears Ready to pull away??
  18. I think he's probably bought one by now - thread is 18months old!
  19. Looks good Gill - like Alew said, it matches in well with your bike. Well done for fitting it yourself! And it means I can have your Buffalo tailpack!! (I'll get baking!! ) It'll even hold everything for a weekends camping at our house!!
  20. I recently had a squeaking noise on my car when I was going round corners. Had the car serviced & mentioned the noise & also the fact that the brakes were grinding a bit. The bloke checked everything, cleaned the pads & discs cos there was a lot of crud on the pads and they're fine now - and the squeaking has stopped!! So you could just get the brake pads/discs cleaned up - see if that helps
  21. So is that the south complete then roy Afterall it about getting out on good roads Ooooooo - bitchy!!!!
  22. Well done Roy!! Let's see the piccies then!!
  23. Don't forget peoples, there's always a bed for the night here if anyone wants to travel further afield. And Rennie makes a mean bacon sandwich in the mornings!!
