Get a big fuse too and wire it in as close the the battery as possible. But nothing you're planning to wire in needs a connecting block that heavyweight.

I wouldn't say it's a myth and just dismiss it like that, I mean, lids are plastic at the end of the day and plastic does break down and deteriorate due to exposure and UV rays over time so while most helmets, properly cared for, would last in excess of 5 years - would you really want to take the risk of one under-performing when you need it most? So many variables to take into account, I'd always feel better replacing than second guessing the condition. Get a mini vacuum attachment kit from Amazon for a few quid. That will let you get deeper inside the engine.

If it's part of the bolt it will be magnetic so a long magnet might be able to get some of it out. Got a hoover?? Have a go at sucking it out. Also the long magnet down the plug hole to see if you fish any out of the combustion chamber and a hover over the plug hole to see if you can suck anything out. I wouldn't move the bike or turn the engine until at least trying those steps

Ive thought about this is the past and my conclusion was that the ideal setup woukd be a PMR radio wired to the bike with Bluetooth to the riders helmet. A PTT button on the handlebars. So all you need is a device that can connect to a PMR radio, plug in the mic and speaker port that pairs with a Bluetooth headset. Simples. Bluetooth range is pathetic. I don't actually think commercial motorbike intercoms use Bluetooth from bike to bike, I think they use a proprietary protocol because the Bluetooth specification isn't design to cover large distances.

Engine warning light came on and you ignored it for 5mins?? Let's hope it wasn't an overheating issue... If you suspect overheating, stop the bike and let it cool don't continue to ride risking engine damage.

With Maplin closing down I bought a pair for cobra Walkie talkies with the motorbike helmet kit and PTT wiring. Currently stashed away in my garage until I figure bout what to do with them!

I used to write robotic control software for a biotech company.. robots are pretty stupid things. I think there is alot of scaremongering about robots taking our jobs but in reality the technology needs to come on a lot from there it is currently before humans will be totally replaced.. But fear not!! If we go down the route that all humans will be replaced, then unjversal income will need to be introduced paying everyone a fixed amount of money each month regardless of if they work or not... Sounds pretty good to me - get paid for doing nothing and let the robots goto work

Its a bit more complex than just a split charger. Needs to have the batteries wired in series when starting the bike but wired in parallel when charging them. Megawatt makes a good point. Are you sure it's not just the standard cables not able to deliver sufficient current? Certainly worth trying double cables first, even if you just use a pair of jumpleads as a test.

So what does a trickle charger do differently that the bikes onboard charging electronics doesn't do? Ive measured my optimate taking the voltage upto 20v sometimes on really flat batteries which a bikes charge circuit would never do, but do trickle chargers give an extra voltage kick to already full batteries??

They could easily make Motorbike batteries more like leisure batteries and able to cope with deep cycles, but they don't. In fact I suspect they make motorbike batteries deliberately oversensitive to being drained so that they sell more! Bikers always blame the grips/alarm/not riding enough and just buy a new battery so easy market to sell more products.

I agree, it is very good, albeit completely inaccurate. But if it were accurate it would be very boring. Grown men sat about sewing patches on jackets and reading the latest internal memos regarding which other clubs have been granted permission to ride on their turf this week.

Yep, all sounds far too much effort to me. Why do these people have such a strong desire to belong to something like an MC?? All sounds like alot of politics and bureaucracy which is exactly what I like to get away from when riding!! Each to their own I guess.. but at the point these people threaten our freedom to ride and civil liberties I take exception. I'm never going to wear patches, so no worries there, but why should people be expected to respect the rules invented by a club they are not a member of and contrary to the laws of the land?? They are just fellow bikers to me, no more, no less..
