Pretty sure its generic Chinese a four stroke 125 SD. the exhaust isn’t sealed very well, not well at all. whats with the link hoover pipe? That’s not std….what else have you removed or changed? why the exhaust is its placement there? It and the clamp is rubbing (edge resting on another edge is either terrible place a stopping/locking point or a sheer off one) while scratched the swing… Moisture maybe from the wadding you used and If it continues to its packed too much, the other is ifs breaking/melting down already? Where you get the wad?

Bikes speedos are actually more accurate than most cars…primarily because bike don’t get options of fitting bigger wheels at the first level so they’re good out of the box. even a cbf125 on a wheel cable speed drive is pretty much spot on. most people double impact this by seeing it as their limit of around 5mph above the limit as they some know or think the Speedo is inaccurate but really most know its because they think can get away with it… personally I have a view /habbit of sticking to 20s and 30s because of a very logical and good reason , higher up the less I’m concerned about it, so doing 45–50s in a 60-70 in good conditions is terrible for so many reasons. contradiction. at the end of the day chris have the right to go out as, when you want, do as you please aslong as you dont poke at the law and law say he cannot. Your reply says go do it another time is laughable! He might actually have to travel in peak time for life reasons rather than just to do so to piss ar*eholes who have less regard??? not just because someone else can’t organise their life or bothered to get up out of bed 5-10min earlier and in a rush with total disregard isn’t chris’s fault nor concern….maybe if they weren’t FB or some other bull shite till the early hours for example? sundays I get the idea but still not a magic trick, around us all that happens it lends to be the family outing sick of the kids /partner being a pain, weekend warriors or old people, tend to choked up with people rushing (slightly less now it entering winter) but absolutely clueless about directions, road markings, corner speeds and car widths, flow control, road usage, parking….and because their are “complicated” options layed out they dither and dather rather than go with the flow or snapped pushed into the decision because another car is rammed up impatient behind rather than look for a bike. Still plenty of ways for a new rider to get tripped up by a clueless goof ball in the death machine…. -
Right bike answered. As I post just as you answered. They do have slight brightening and dimming habit so fore is the same. the Hondas of that era had a natural habitat of putting shite regs and In stupid places with not the best wires beyond the warranty. They do have a decompression unit /sprag clutch inside so the slight jolt and slow stall is pretty normal. if it’s been on its side fuel and oil go places where it’s not ment to, oil will go into the air filter and other parts. just for future reference! what battery is in it (ah and cca) how old?
-
Might be a red herring about. how old is the bike? Older it is the more likely they dim or brighten naturally. i will go general case of its a few years old - the lights are dimmer when a t idle but brighten noticeably when a few thou of revs applied, that is normal, if it doesn’t then it’s more likly the stator or its wiring is weak, especially if after it does this cycle the battery is probably drained. If the battery isn’t particularly drained then I’d be looking abit more at the regulator and about paying attention to the wiring- any difference in resistance when cold and hot. the jolting could be due to its not getting enough of something hence then stalling or its out of sync so notice it… maybe it’s been on its side it could have filled or blocked a breather with oil or fuel giving pumping issues maybe??? if you can 100% clear them things first .

Have you connected/damaged the kill switch m/wiring? or even the possibility of ignition switch?

Not at all good for more than 20secs to wheel it away. you need an Allen key/screw driver and a adjustable wrench, undo the bolt to the lever, wheel it away., no noise. unscrew/twat the bb weight, cut the grip around it and pull out the grip section to decrease the diameter and pull off. No real noise needed. or cut the level itself or smash the device with a lump hammer either way its not remotely difficult to get around. some noise. its just nipped to get the milk and the bike is still within eye sight sort of protection at best to lengthen a proper clueless cretin train of thought. dont use the lever one for long term just because you pushing the system into active so the pistons are more exposed to the elements the whole time in winter then when you release it your putting all that shit built up and hardened up into the the delicate seals. The spring returns both calipers and mc will be under constant strain so question to weaken for real no reason. Lengthy pad contact may stain or micro transfer bad material into the lower pits of the disc and pads itself that would normally be burn or friction ws away under use. Seals will be under long stress for no reason, weakening them prematurely. the best stuff for locks and pins or u bar for the locks is gt85, even a veteran locksmith confirmed it to me years ago. -
So what's with these quick-shifter thingies then?
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Motorbike Chat
Some bikes haven't had them designed in mind from the beginning (old blades, Zzr gsxr etc) so add one will more likely damage them. Now not to say you couldn’t but one thing i would say it that they would have to be VERY meticulously calibrated / tuned to that specific bike and it’s behaviour to allow a lot of leeway. Also to actual service it a lot more often than the normal road user does now or will to just to preserve the gb. most of the very modern ones (factory) have been designed quite well if they have good hardware and software with re calibration at every service with detail in mind, if not then it’s more likely to damage with use. aftermarket it’s mostly down the software and tune…. my mind is if it doesn’t work brilliantly all the time in all situation's (regardless of rev and speeds, up and down) for the road user and bike then its pointless and shouldn’t be on it for many reasons. -

Yes you’re not changing down the gears often enough (as your leaving to do all the gear changes at the last moment-nope don’t do that). Bad habit as especially as your new and you need to avoid rushing every thing to the last minute which makes you have less mind control for reading the road etc also what would happen if the lights suddenly changed or a car suddenly switched or something else happened while your busy fluffing up the changes?Putting yourself in a predicament that you made for yourself. Dont bother with blipping as your adding another thing to do to the list of now when you just need to do it better in the first place-ie change sooner and higher in the rev range. go down as the speed dictates, if your at 60- it’s fifth 40 it’s 4th 30 it’s 3rd, 20 it’s 2nd and before coming to to a stop down to first… and your most likely too low in the rev range. Also maybe the gear lever may want adjustment to allow for your leg to engage (too acute or not enough) with it at the correct angle due to poor placement or your biometric- A side picture with you sat on the bike so the we can see how your leg and foot are doing. That will help you get it into gear more positive consistency. You’ll find 1st is very comically short geared for the Indonesian high hills and 3rd and forth are almost pointless as theyre ratio is stacked so close together. Fifth is sort of a bit longer but could of been a touch more to be honest. your 125 should have nearly 10,000 rpm with work within but really it only produces some go from 5-9k so you need to keep that in mind. oh and by the way your invisible while you have a bike, a hi vis or lights brighter than the sun will not save you. Only the wits and the assumption of they’re all out to get you for prizes. Don’t even think they’re looking at your and lock eyes they see you, it ain’t it’s the bait/trap to run you over by them or tag team with another box crew. Your also fair game to be screwed over and think I aint sitting behind a noob in a L plate car is what drivers think, so add a L plate and a bike their opinion of you is worse than a pedo out of prison for the 4th time while sat outside a primary school. Its bad but not far off what level of self preservation to think to save yourself from “them”. -
Where’s your manual for the bike? That should been given to you, that should tell you. i suspect they are secondary draws say to cdi unit, cvt etc.

Fozzie Your reply is correct and agree. if it wrong and everyone is doing it, it’s wrong. If you don’t want to be wrong dont do it or don’t drive/ride like that, but don’t be surprised if you get caught you get issued, simples. So I would have put it to her that if everyone starts to bitch slap her it must be ok because everyone does it is that ok??? To a point in the very basic principle she is correct but in her doing so she broke two maybe even the three rules that she would have done because of her personal antics. stay in the farthest left lane possible unless your immediately over taking a vehicle in front that is much slower say a hgv. Once over taken move over the farthest left lane as soon as possible. don’t linger in the middle lane or fast lane. do not to impede someone else’s progress regardless. Doing so risks driving without due care and attention…if it was policed properly. once again a “everyone else does it” is a childish attitude, one for the weak willed and brush into a general away from themselves to not take responsibility for their action while they know full well theyre pushing their righteousness and re enforcing and self importance in doing wrong.

so do you want to add how many people in the uk and licence holders of those times too which might be good for reference. well it is to be expected with growth in the economy, people and health with the richer economy which has happened, so arguably the balance is very uneven you could say certainly on a small island that hasn’t bothered to foresee or update itself for the predictable future it set out for itself…. So to say a particular person type is/has a selfish attitude and everyone else that doesn’t have a vehicle especially is on the motoring forum isnt? but to own a vehicle is selfish as you do and go where what you want for yourself or family members and not pick up other random people waiting at any time as you was passing is just that… what about the people who have many bikes/cars? Cant drive/ ride more than one at anytime and to have many more then did you buy the right bike in the first place? could be viewed as wasteful and selfish to other people As a lot of young and older people struggle to get on the private transport ladder nowadays… you paid for it, you have a status and it’s yours whichh is great for many reasons you see fit and I won’t argue with that but still the same deal that’s the hard fact. So I don’t get the everyone else is more selfish than I attitude. so to start addressing that would you start capping criteria? Say cars and people to a strict age? Of say 15yrs and 70years old no exceptions for example? number of licenses and cars allowed or issued to a district? Say 1 vehicle/car to an house hold and so forth etc? either way you would more than just upset afew people as a lot of the life nowadays has changed compared to the as people work further away, visit places further afield etc, start with that and you’ll be getting more selfish people, greater disparity and resentment plus - public transport could help but its been left in the dust for too long, too far behind for too long in quality, quantity and price to accommodate the masses and their needs/wants not just the city but rural. Hard decisions that would definitely screw a lot of people over which if it was a dictatorship is one thing but when you don’t and votes are what count…. sorry thats my rant .

This brought up a question then of means and capabilities testing especially in the older generation which in would have a higher probability of catching those that have a higher risk of creating an accident directly or indirectly in the first place on a different thread… yet many posters (quite a few the same) disagreed with having to be/forced to to have such measures due to them seen as being nearer that threshold. so most of the older generation having a moan at the young uns saying selfish but on the same sentence you can’t test me because I’m older, I know more, and I have this or that or paid this so I shouldn’t…sounds like childish attitude of just being the older brother/sister, either way way seen it’s same thing. so the younger generation view is they’re slow, past it, fragile and unbeknown/oblivious to their health issues might have an impact? and the older generation think the young uns with no brains or their pubes on fire. really everyone is working at a different level. Most cases aint re education required as that is patronising but because what as comes up time and time again….learning to drive/ride is totally different to learning to pass a test! So if many people had to re do their test now would they pass- more likely not, not particularly due to capable but more of they do it their way and not to the test. anyway a few posters did come up with vaild point’s that is blanket covered without prejudice, attitude and most noticed is lack accountability! Its like miss behaving children and the parents that don’t do owt to address it, shout at them so much they tune it out as idle threats…but if a actual bitch slap (Will S slap) or some punishment of sitting on the naughty step came every time they broke the rule they more likely come so see well I don’t benefit from being a prick so what’s the point… In the far east, roads behavour was so poor especially when rich people got too giddy or thought they were in their own dictatorship house or bedroom so what was the solution? Extreme surveillance with incredible punishment (primary money driven) for not doing so. But the European and uk say wait but what about privacy??? Well you already don’t have it! if your in the public domain then tuff shit, streets, you go to the hospital, shops, most bars hell even more people are putting cameras in their own homes like in the lounge and bedrooms and dont moan about that ffs…. So should cars have MORE in built cameras , harsh warnings, recorders that are sent directly to a cloud for processing, ai to spot bad habits and make an account/ notifications to the insurance and police for serious action of the driver? That would certainly make people think more. i also think that it’s down to a design of the vehicle not just exterior but interior is too like modern Peugeots that have a similar cue to Lamborghinis of being fast and in a fight jet, make sense especially if you think about stereotyping. make it edgy, fast looking, very direct and sport acting, sounds aggressive, even tarted up or mooded out (as some type of people do - more law breaking) thinking corsa /fast and furious crew then odds on the average meat sack will behave in such a manner. yet if everything was sleek, smooth, sophisticated If you think of like old jags, caddies, Bentleys and rolls Royces etc. (they dont have to cost the earth but designed sensible it’s achievable), other than top gear bull shittery when was the last time you a rolls etc drift around a round about or cut the corner on the back road? not making arguments but points.

If im being kind it’s not great, if not it’s a waste of money. its a quick spray on after daily riding and wash at best every time without fail, not to be trusted beyond a few days. the two best ones are acf50 and xpc! acf50 was my favourite and go to, is very good but more oily and requires abit more attention/prep to be honest. Xcp is my favourite and go to, probably slightly better and more so if you go with the normal one than the clear coat but it has a yellow hue to it when applied which bothers some people. Clear coat is almost the same level of protection without colour.

As a general rule of keeping things in tip top shape if the rubber is old 5-10yrs service or standing, seems remotely ridged/firm in anyway or separated from to replace any part with any single of the above reasons, replace all the rubbers….it eliminates any possibility of doubt and having to redo it again as it got disturbed. if you was to do the same with forks? If one outer seal went then the likely hood of the other will increase as hell it will be older, and while your there doing the replacement you might as well do the other to avoid having to do it again a few weeks/months later, also at least they will feel and operate the same way same with carbs. the sync will still tell you something even with the choke and then will tell you again when off choke even with or without extra throttle applied, as they will fall or not be at the same levels or rates with each other again if they are out of balance or not at the correct level then it will not run well or not at all…. so how can you or not tell if you don’t check it? -

Yes correct as up to date we regularly have bangers (old cars) and newer stuff. The hot hatch 2005 fiat stilo was a decent size hot hatch with safety in mind, really bigger 18in wheels, bigg pillars in every way yet smaller for the occupants. a 90s e36 bmw 325 with 15inch wheels was considered quite big car back in the day and it was brilliant even with the auto box. Use less space outside yet in side and the boot was massive! The fiat panda 2014, small dinky car in today’s standards but outside was bigger or near as dammit as the stilo that was considered a bigger car back in the day. In side was mixed bag but id definitely say smaller than the 3door stilo. now the bigger pillars A,Band C are purely for safety and its not a trend but a necessity to pass the crash tests. You want a higher chance to live after a crash without spending a fortune on a carbon tub- tuff. Same with air bags, curtains, seats and so forth take up space no matter what plus the ridgity of the shell and weight has to be more again, double impacting the problem plus that all the way around the car while trying to keep the cost within reasonable plus again the kinetic forces with the added weight it goes on….. So it goes to say if you (or crash safety legislation) want safe and safer than before it has to be bigger, stronger, come with more gubbins, weigh more, etc. a lot of new cars read the road and if it thinks your pulling out of a junction into a cars path it can apply the brakes avoiding the accident so argument is it’s a active safety net for a passive one needed for a operator that is always a questionable variable foresight. Im one for not relying on tech but mistakes are made and questionable drivers always but if it works for cars ,bikes, cyclists and pedestrians then so be it. Though does bring a choice of how much should tech rule over the drivers capabilities? only the other week a elderly gentleman almost ran me other by reversing his small modern car in daylight while no other cars blocked his sight, yet i needed to speed up and jump Out of the way to being ran over, then he toddled down the road without knowing what he’d done wrong or if I was even there, kids also play in the area so no doubt would have had a young un. A different elderly gentleman but the same area, damaged into around 6 cars that where parked up in the same two lane block parking area in a 20mph zone. but if the tech was on it to stop (if it worked) that he would have carried on driving relying on the tech to sort it out for him (always fallible) while their capabilities for driving got worst… all the user tech (phone and nav’s) is customer lead and driven. They dont have to put on or used it, so really you have to blame the user for choosing that and arguably deciding on interaction with it at any point in time. Not condoning drink driving but it’s no better than if you not looking or distracted by poking at a phone or car infotainment now they are touch screen (and cars) so memory of just reaching out is long gone.. a lot of people don’t cope well trying to mental manage doing two things at once let alone at any given speed. -
ACF 50 - Where to apply, and where not to.
RideWithStyles replied to ChrisBiggsUK's topic in Pitstop
Most of my bikes have been around the 90-00s (still is) era of bikes plus the benelli 2019, so I’m no stranger to fending off and spotting early signs of corrosion or wear. Yea acf used to be my favourite (far superior to Scott oilers version) and works really well and still would use it if I couldn’t get xcp but due to the prep, how it sits be haves like a bad separation oil, does its thing and what knot mentioned before its good but…. I found xcp clear coat much better in pretty much every regard, bar i could see that if you was abit long sighted you might not notice where you’ve not applied it? So you could get the normal one which apparently has a slight yellow hue Compared to the coloured acf purple. its a little more sophisticated or synthetic with the way it is- bit like the difference of gear oil and chain lube they both do the same job but different if you know what I mean. so id still spray, brush into nocks and cranny’s and buff regardless. -

Well it sounds like the carbs haven’t been balanced, you haven’t mentioned that so id assume that needs doing because if its choke (extra fuel) ok but when off it stalls, and extra throttle might not help if say one is very rich to get/keep going (hence the back fire), one is middling to slightly low and two are far too lean that can screw it up especially if its say 1and 3 or 4and 2 etc. if you ever remove carbs they should be rebalanced, no ifs or buts. assuming you set the needles height correctly? And the slide of the diaphragm is set the correct way as that can be fitted incorrectly? Also have you checked if your getting good spark from each plug?
