I’m too young to have been through the joke tests but have heard it many times, i went through the modern way. Funny thing is they say it was dangerous back then but when you explain to that same seasoned generation of what you have to do nowadays to pass a test they say parts of it is dangerous and pointless then get completely confused on what to do…

Good Morning Good Night and General Chat.

The extra mass hes going to me putting on? Lol -
More than enough for fuel to go off (hydrocarbons to breakdown), absorb water etc, especially if your bike is outside to the elements and E10. various stuff some are better than other or intended use. for very short term (a month or two absolute max) a fuel system cleaner can do an ok job like redex or other like it, for longer an actual stabilisation is required like the one from liqui moly is a good one, not always in stock though, id try an autofactor for say cars will give more options and probably cheaper too. good one for the chain is an chain wax lube, it actually stays put and most are very good, wd40’s or wurths are my favourite, muck off isn’t too bad.

i suspect they dont need a lower secondary power unit like in EV cars as their lower power and less luxury’s of fans, heaters, air on, head units etc to start with and space is a problem for a bike so they get one unit to power all. so a 48v system will do and down grade it for the 12v parts of the system - the head unit or main user control module for example , which you attacked and it didn’t like. Ill just add to emotos….WTF! It’s an interesting tech but is all problems! H&S hazard galore - Exposing power wiring, massive hole you could fit you leg if not two within the wheel space let alone the sub fame and tyre. Is it a midges bike??? Look at the both the pegs? The ride is feet forward and will have to have bow legs like a cowboy with chaps on. The pillions is so small and low down (I thought it was the brake lever for a second) they’re pretty much standing up on the seat and hope they have very long legs and micro feet. good luck with a tank bag. i don’t mind progress but that just not right…

Information on 850 TDM
RideWithStyles replied to John o keeffe's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
Sometimes they have different diameters, lengths and or shapes of fitment. if an old or worn pipe is still there then it develops wear patterns (ridges at a certain length of male inlet pipe where it had been for years) that gives the clue away with the dirt/difference mark. -
Question about my insurance
RideWithStyles replied to Jay14's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
You can still have a valid licence and no valid cbt or vice versa (as one expires before the other). they are separate but work together so neither can cancel other out directly but carry on riding when you depend on each part being valid when either isnt is not allowed. you can have the insurance if it happens prior to the policy start date but they have the right to nil and void as they won’t pay you out, but a good one would most likely sort out third party problems first (its variables and complicated by law) if you royally screwed up as they still have some amitagation as best, then the right to chase you afterwards for all the money back. capt- My understanding is that jay only got the points afterwards of the insurance policy starting and not prior in this Regard? So if he got another policy he would have to declare it. Jay should tell them, it would be up to the insurance/underwriters to determine if what he did wrong is still ok if they want to carry on insuring, unless you did real bad they will but it might cost you for it. -
Yeah got to agree. even if you find what people think is a good bike doesnt always make it true right bike for all the time or as a forever bike. ive liked and appreciated all the bikes ive owned or ridden for their own appeals: Yam TC (1yr) & kawa zxr (3/4yrs?), viewed as time 600s were but different characters to each other, quick, cheap, quite engaging. Tri Daytona (3/4yrs?),what an engine. hon cbf125 (7+yrs) not strictly mine but I rode it enough to claim, its viewed so lowly (slow) that getting the most out of it in any situation is brilliant/surprise, fuel economy and cheap running and most parts (especially not Honda ones). Benelli (4yrs), fun, very accessible and very cheap to run. suz gsfs (2yrs on going) , does pretty much everything what I need in a manner required, last of the carbs, lovely colour of metallic blue paint. which one have I least bonded with/ wouldnt do again? Ignore my medical reasons for the Ben would Probably between the yam and gsfs (bonding) as they not bad bikes nor do nothing terrible but any of those or other bikes as a forever bike? Nope as people change and so do bikes.

Yep Bennetts or any other insurance isn’t interested, they’re a broker essentially so not their problem. You will may have a good fight with the under writers to sort something out with 4th dimension. really the under writers don’t want to sort anything out, id see the very best situation is you have to either pay the excess and feel the Bolch of ink to you name, and/ or more likely just settle something out (£) directly with 4th fookovrrs. you could just see what they will charge to fix and return it to you (wont be cheap but might avoid extra cost as mentioned at the end for you and them?), or If not probably have to pay or sort something out with getting your bike back from them (over the charge they may apply to you for their “services”) which will be something if it’s 200miles away. Then pay money to actually fix it. I hope this wont be an expensive lesson for you.
-
But be warned now that you could be changing the course of earning money…if they can’t get the cost of it or anything out of your insurance policy (you don’t claim they don’t cover) , 4th dimension could try come for you to pay and challenge the bill as to they had the bike, could charge you for collection, storage, assessment and admin…keep an eye on the letter box. Like snakes, vultures, con men and scumbags- persistent and devious buggers.
-
Yes that’s the other manner they earn money from, also replacement hire bikes….at least you didn’t except that? I seriously hope you didn’t? That can be hundreds for days of charges on a grotty 50/125cc that you’d potentially have to pay for. for future reference if you had a claim that even was the other sides fault it’s you cost to burden until that cost is truly accepted but if the other side dont except the amount given , - so most of the time they do not and courts are wisely questioning and means testing it on behalf of the other side, as it’s mostly not reasonable so be warned you may have to pay for it regardless. so if they say the other side will definitely cover the cost- be warned because they want to extract the maximum amount of money from the situation and either use you it get it from the other side or make pay/chase you for it in the end and if its not excepted they come after you for it. some policy say hire bikes or something like that included but as usual it’s in the small print of conditions of what, when and/or why it is covered.. if your not in that situation you’ll be paying for it…short of it is a VERY few reasons to except Hire vehicles.

Depends if it’s actually going to be written off? How badly guy Fawkes night is it? What needs replacing? What’s the payment then minus the excess you have to pay, then how does that affect your future quotes? Then how much of a difference do you have to add to get back on two wheels if you want to? How worse off will you be? on how much the bike is worth now to buy/sell (your measly payout), how much damage has been done, how much to repair and how much it could be sold for…that’s how they see it- 4th dimensions business in real money earnings is through these acts of pay FA for it and get it to a running state and sell on (to fixer upper), seconly to repair for the customer/insurance, thirdly sell to scrapyards for parts if it’s bad, forth to just dispose. if they think it’s written off (most will say as its only way for much return to them) and you except the payment ,then you hand over the bike and stuff as its will be their problem to do as they see fit. what you need to know or work out if it’s a reasonable payout and your not gonna be really worse off for a simple problem or to fix up?

If no medical problem, i most likely would have not got the gsf650s I have now and gone with a strom or sv. Hell even an aprillia , Ducati or moto guzzi if I was mega flush and regardless.

Hi the rectifier always has power to it (at least it should do) when a battery source is connected to the bike. It needs it as it has to convert the current to start a bike let alone run it.

Question about my insurance
RideWithStyles replied to Jay14's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
If you don't have a valid CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) certificate, you can be fined up to £1,000 and get up to 6 penalty points for riding. You must pass your full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years of getting your CBT certificate. If you don't, you'll have to: Retake the CBT course and get a new certificate and Stop riding. You can get points on a provisional license, just like you can on a full one. Penalty points on your provisional license that have not expired will be carried over to your full license when you pass your test. Here are some other things to know about penalty points and provisional licenses: If you reach six points before you've taken your test, your provisional license won't be taken away. If your license is canceled within 2 years, you'll have to apply and pay for a new provisional license. You'll have to retake both parts of your driving or riding test again to get a full license. -
Just be careful with the upping the excess trick in a dodgy area…. You’ll need to pay that out to the insurance in an event of a claim, be paying more for the excess than the insurance for that and a few years worth coming for short returns. You might just have to bite the bullet at some point anyway. yeah more tick boxes to charge more no matter if you select them or not. My thought is if it has a seat for a human to sit on it, it should be assumed the vehicle will/could be used regardless as it’s not any different -otherwise they’ll be asking how often do u have 1, 2,3,4 or more passengers in your vehicle? How old will they be? What diets or lifestyle are they? And if they go even more daft you have a claim with 4 people in yet you only said 2 or 3 they would like void your insurance….its the future vision of insurance.

Benda Launches New LFC 700 and LFS 700 Models
RideWithStyles replied to Admin's topic in Motorbike news
Cant be windows it’s not crashed yet or has a million patches on it. i suspect its a cheap android set up so will be out of support date before its first service. try 000000, 123456, 012345, 111111, 666666, 999999. Or better yet try looking in your manual book or ask the dealer for it… -
Not just hoodies but normal people too, higher demand for the 125’s, more claims on a 125. most see the twin 500s pointless/well short of the mark for many reasons, like compared to 600s.

Depends on the shock set up…is it just a spring spec or /and the damping’s inside that is too soft? And is it too soft for you? How much can you adjust for your requirement? without testing it yourself its hard to judge…most oem shocks aint the best and mostly designed for nobody in mind so it’s just what it is. If your questioning it I’d say factor in a replacement prior to buying it anyway. most updated spec shocks from the manufacturer even the mighty Honda are generally not a lot different to the previous model ,it would be like 5-10% different at best but would for the western world need to to 25-75% more???they will have a very limited user life and setting so if your out of the scope of the shock you’ll have to change it anyway. think you’ll just have to see what deals work out best by visiting the dealer and busting their balls for a sale if they want to….

Heated trousers
RideWithStyles replied to onesea's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
the very latest one do which is why I said from early 2024, but older ones which are still available through different stockist and sellers so unless you really research the difference between models and years they operate on the basis of what was stated Stu. -
Agreed of start with the basics though I think there could be two problems (knock on effect hence the 3thou rev to only) or one big silly one. a single spark or coil on a four cylinder wouldn’t stop a bike dead, run three or like shite maybe. Then the corrosion on the board is a possibility, the only two ways is to try a different board from a definite ok one or open up the one you have and see if its furry or damaged? But id try that last… The thermo valve and water is easy to test /do but with the age of bike you might be having to test the wiring of everything as you go looking too.
