Assume your birth year is 86? So around 38? Doubt it. if you have never ridden a mb before id say get the lessons at a training place first and the cbt done afterwards regardless. get some miles/saddle time and take the full quali afterwards or even progress to a higher classification before the expiration of two years.

What is better is a battery powered tracker stand alone unit like Monimoto. Cheap to buy, very low annual cost, easy to hide, battery lasts for yonks and now a rechargeable version too, i at least you get an idea where it is or gotten to….

Any other information you’re not telling to help us? The ticking could be just the chain or the tensioner. White/blue is coolant, black/grey is oil. could be the carb mixture is incorrect.

Quite chunky that is missing its male counterpart part and wire clip, Looks like it could be to do with the air box, gonna guess like tiggie a breather/redirect waste air/pressure pipe, it should be connected to The engine too. but in the background your missing another pipe as the clip/holder is there but no pipe. looks like your bike has had a “Rodney” at it, or many times. Beware

Sounds obvious from the off…. fuel not being burned properly, smoke from oil passing the seals/rings, ticking from messed up piston hitting what is left of the valve (pieces), scratching the bore, bits all over the show. Similar to what car a saw and heard trying to drive off in the other direction. Depends if you looked at it when the valve was opened on it revolution and ment to, If its open or closed all the time as you rotate the cycle and not ment to then yes it’s very bad news. Valve may have broken, damaged the piston, head, rings and bore. Very small pieces end up in all sorts of places, oil pan, filter and pick up, cam shaft area….just to name a few.

They do….its even easier to steal land rovers , and a little different are engines that more likely to self distrust (bmw cars). To be honest technology (electronics) of flashiness and lazyness of consumer have driven it to this as just looking at the car world let alone other goods like phones/tv hell even white goods! the wireless connection certainly adds to the risk no matter how many codes they add. other than to almost core hard lock everything to one Small single issue thing called a key(keys which by design can always be hacked which is why we have locksmiths) similar to immobilisers they have now, that can be easily lost, broken or stolen problem with if you lose that then you instantly don’t have a usable vehicle you paid for and replacements even more horrendously expensive to change which the hiss already is that long ago. When you think about both devices are just keys, a mechanical and electrical one in layering, the only next stages are finger print and face reading like phones have now…. bikes are easy picking, less lockable areas (to chain it to), easier to move, not particularly complicated to get at or check, can hide many bike in a small space, most public people hate bikes/ers so they think we’re on the same level of the scumbags so don’t care, strip for parts that don’t need warehouse, bikers need them for parts (even the old shutters), new prices are quite high so used is quite a decent return especially if you didn’t pay for what you sell, very low interest with the cops and courts even if you get caught….

Not if there’s a cheeky quick ride on a new bike as a favour . Who’s taking the bets? Rules? Are lead weights allowed?

Some conditions are just that. Triumph want £3500 minimum deposit for a peasant base spec 1200 tiger with no options for one example… base bobber is £2700. mt09 is £2500. doesn’t matter if that’s pcp or Hp.

Ahhh so there is an actual reason and not a last minute afterthought. it still can’t understand people cant read a sign or resist even when told not too even when explicitly told not too, it amazes me how they got to the age the did without something fookin their life span shorter…maybe they should go to Australia and learn a thing or two.
-
A tracker id be pushed to as all that is to connect to the battery (plus knowing where it could be at any time is good) but an immobiliser or an alarm? No chance worst piles of shite you can do to a new bike let alone an old one with corrosion and resistance in the wiring systems… One of the garages I use regular jobs to do on bikes week in, week out that come in is to rip out those shite parasite's.

Probably has to pay van drivers to do that to him now.

Ktm fast but unreliable to some other brands, they suffer with head gasket problems and a few other things. yes at least they admit they’d fooked up so I’d give them some leeway unlike bmw and Honda… well if its a summer bike winter is knocking so plenty of time for them to mull over the bike… Some may say most dealers/their techs are barely trained /attentive to service them properly let alone a full strip and put back together of a major component. Good will? . Sounds like imitgation PR bull. And they know the numbers of failure already, they either knew and threw it in on the chance anyway or they dont check shite, either way poor work and business practices. would be probably cheaper and better (especially im for the customer) just to send a new engine out…as depending on what “the cam failure was” actually is but no doubt it will have affected the other parts the have direct or indirect contact with it.

Alpinestars boot's peeling
RideWithStyles replied to V650's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Oh and before I forget…..don’t use clothes wax or owt like that on PU parts as that damages them quicker! Just water on a damp sponge, brush lightly and pat dry afterwards will make it last longer. -
Yea lovely looking boats, Great admiration. the big show in the middle must have taken a long time and a lot of preparation. I’m not a boater so going to guess yours the third from bottom the black one as that finally stands out? not taking the piss in particular or say its any less of an achievement, but why they all have lovely stands and what not, but yours doesn’t? looks like it’s still been strapped to the bedside drawers which is placed ontop of writers drawer?

Sorry but realistically yes. other would be to source components, change and turn your shoe making skills on but cheaper to buy another pair…start saving for winter to buy on sales. -
Gore-Tex Jacket Recommendations
RideWithStyles replied to veracocha's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Not really it’s all a lottery if it (the single item/jacket was manufactured correctly in the first place. fit to you, features you want and finish is up to your requirements…. -
So does the duvet on a sofa or a thin blanket on a mattress make it a bed?

If it can be moved it can be nicked easily, Yea every thing done as a security measure is a deterrent. Honda had done a good job all those years ago but does it need updating…most likely. Every system has a weakness or two no matter what, but if you put on another specific item to cover the weakness of that one…go through the lines of immobiliser, chain, tracker, others are just additional finer layers, other than manning it all the time….if they know it and want it after that then. obviously the less your bothered about damaging the bike or property your nicking the more options you have to acquiring it. if you damage it to the bill of few hundred to a £12k+ bike that you didn’t pay for its a increased odds of return.

Alpinestars boot's peeling

That’s PU coating not leather. PU is quite water proof naturally though very thin. Not repairable in an actual sense. if you “paint” it all your doing is putting a paint/lacquer onto a expanded foam and fabric membrane which is exposed, makes it non breathable until the allowed paint/lacquer layer fails which will be quickly as the under layers are not ideal for use as a main layer. yes you could paint but looks rough and ok a month or so at a distance before cracking and leaking…it’s down hill condition unless you replace. holes are made when they put the threads in to make it ribbed to allow movement and compromises it when they did that, then just add movement, rubbing, crap hitting it, cleaners etc will just make it fail much quicker. -
Yea Nick, they’ve used them for a good few years now. The idea is that rather than an examiner dictating where to go (best or worst routes) its now up to the NAV or google to say otherwise…one less reason to blame the person next to you for your cock up (especially if they have a harsh accent). from my experience WAZE would make every journey random and amusing as to which route so id make that a default , while we use it I have games including how many people using Waze on that section of road, how many characters there are, would the route and time be correct, how many times it will repeat the same instructions before the round about, change the voice to a random point you barely understand it and guessing what it’s saying, second guessing which tiny crevice of a route it would send you…so much fun.

agreed Astro. Started off lovely and went…. I get what Capt was saying as a suggestion for safety and well being and reason behind it especially with own flesh and blood. young and inexperienced with ever busy roads and lifestyle dont always mix and it doesn’t take a moment for it to go badly even with age. a random oink on a first post maybe have a different reaction and opinions. Up to if you both you and your daughter wish to heed it but the reaction was a little sharp… phones can have a FOCUS OR OTHER PROFILE where certain options can be muted so only the sat nav will work etc. Correct thats four wheels with great stability and not falling over. you can easily see the instructions let alone listen in without much trouble it’s very easy. it’s not the same with a bike, otherwise they’d be doing it that way on a bike already…. Just to point out without any pedantic arguments. eventually she’ll have to have a headset in her helmet at some time for the cbt instructor/examiner at some point anyway so getting use to having a voice other than your own in your head of the sat nav one would be less of a shock and not have to look at the phon3 in the first place would be good?

Triumph Tiger 900 to R1250GS Adventure
RideWithStyles replied to Overstrider's topic in Motorbike Chat
Depreciation is always going to happen and to a large degree only a problem if you change your bike every few years, well if thats the case and your bothered about it you might aswell just buy the dealers pcp returned bikes (px’s). They'll be a lot cheaper as someone else lost worst of the money and still like new… win win. only HD and BMW dealers are prepared to take a bit of a hit (which is low as their prices are overinflated to start with) to get you on board with their bike and keep you returning to the brand/dealership. its not the seat height that you need to solely think but the peg to seat height or its actual placement. Just something else to consider maybe? people ideas are good but have you thought of something else? So would a triumph rocket (pegs forward or lower down version) , a ducati Diavel (same), HD something around that type? They hold good values and more than accommodate tall people… might be worth looking at if you can get your head outside of the usual box you might be thinking of? -
Hi and agree with Fliddles - yes good choice of bike.
