  1. Hello and welcome. what are you thoughts and plans? What bike kit etc?
  2. LEAVE THE AIR FILTER ON as its doing its job unless its really dirty, just replace. Some people get lazy and assume Ultra sonics will be the god cleaner but usually don’t do jets well even if separated, let alone down the deep ports /pathways of a carb. Does it seems better with the choke on as its running at that rev? But as soon as you take it off it’s rough? chances are it’s still got a blockage in the pathway, to the idle. or less likely might be something up with slide or diaphragm/rubbers.
  3. Arrrh but their cute, funny looking and have an amusing name. You’re the captain, surprised why you’ve not elected the most unliked crew member on patrol? better the scarecrowing they do, the less of the boat “they” have to clean! its would be sooo funny (comedy sketch) seeing at a distance, mad sea men ranting and waving about on a stinking shit infested boat. Anyway on to more pressing matters of biscuits! . Personally I think the HOLY jaffa have been butchered compared to what they were. A lot smaller, less of them, sponge it ain’t now but replaced with 80old council block of flats estate housing used plaster board, the orange is coloured silicone cushion insoles, the chocolate is coloured oil painting and layered to single micron digit.
  4. Just shows you grown attachments to it and difficult to let go, I’ll assume you don’t have enough space to become a horder? At least that’s one good thing. . bikes do get shifted, bought and sold between traders so that’s one reason it could/will move around different places.
  5. I know it’s ugly but you don’t have to just single out the car .
  6. There is a difference to new bikes (barely a ltr just to factory check and move it) and used ones at dealers (fuel of unknown age or if little to no contamination) to those independent business sellers or traders -it varied but more than likely worse as with age and conditions. The best thing if you have the choice or option is to let a trusted mechanic near you do a full and thorough inspection/service after you bought it if you was that concerned, but on the other thought then if your that concerned don’t buy it from them in the first place. most of the time the bike will have a bare minimum inside as people run the fuel down before selling it(or they should if the choice), then when the dealer sells it it will either have the same fuel or they’ll just add a bit just so it has some fresh hydrocarbons to get it to start and the next fuel station that the new owner will have to do. very few will actually drain and replace unless something has happened to require work -if they actually check before putting on sale or at pdi time…
  7. I Dont bother with heated gloves (only heated grips for me) as it’s another thing to go wrong and a lot of compromises on a PPE product that is very individual size and fit so difficulty finding a normal glove is hard enough. gloves have a hard (shorter) life compared to other clothing to start with before fragile components (heating, wires, control and connections) added let alone for a lot more money…
  8. Get different answers for different bikes. But for that reference you’re saying? That isn’t high mileage thats low mileage with little use throughout its life time. Road engines generally “bedded in/run in” till 7-10 thousand miles, its still a spring chicken if it’s been looked after properly. The main thing is go its condition, solid history with plenty of Reciepts.
  9. There are many different tints, some look clear but a a very light tint like light smoke or something, which law says if it has any tint it’s bad- the reason my coppers used to get wound up and add that to a reason to stop or bollok you, about back in the early days . It’s because it’s the same injection moulds used from as none tinted to a tinted visor. Most of the time it will say daytime use if tinted.
  10. Wife used to ride all year round as that was her sole transport for quite a few years, passed her car test, then got poorly and then used the car that is her sole transport. I currently work in the same town as I live so a short walk is all I need. Bike is social or alternative mode if the wife has the car. College last year I did travel on the bike as that was further away in all but the grimmest times. Used For the social in colder months I’ll ride in dry conditions and stop as soon a gritting is applied a till at least a few weeks afterwards before I’m willing to return, But I don’t know if I’ll even be able to do that from now on.
  11. Have you checked all the connectors, and more importantly good clean earths throught out?
  12. True to a point but it’s a complete pain in the arse to apply well and a total nightmare to get rid of the smears and streaks, effects don’t last more than a day or two at best (as it gets broken down too quickly. bennets bike social even added that one to the list of contenders…
  13. Sidi’s are my fave (Preety good for size and width if a tad wider whick works for me, even the wife saw the light when we found a women’s size in a shop…lasting years longer and way better than the others she had.
  14. Thanks SD. It was one of those slow motion i saw it coming but was too committed to stop sort of things. was a bit uncomfortable To the point I’d be dragging my body back home… Yeah got to agree what a day, the shame/punishment and burden of the M6/56. Jokes aside the worst parts build character () and experience while make the great worth while.
  15. Cue wee jokes.

    Newbie

Hi Steve. i be the first to be the barer of bad news and what other s will say….Chinese shite… buy once, pay forever more while you own it for your sins. I will try to help but holy it’s difficult even if you have the lost hope infront front of you. ok to be productive: It started cutting out at junctions etc This could be injection, sensor, or air blockage in the tank through the breather that the pipe often get blocked through shite or the pipe is trapped… if you get hold of a bike ecu code checker for this bike (clue lots of eBay garage trawling) that might give clues as to why the bikes or thinks something is wrong? other people will have suggestions and I’d check them all. and eventually the battery died. It wouldn’t hold charge. is that from having to restart the bike a lot too? Many possibilities but if you have changed the battery to a good one then sounds like a draw or a shortage somewhere, if it has a immobiliser or alarm (even its own makers one) that will a piece of… suspect. The other if the grounds (earthlings) is compromised as mostly the frames where rust and grubby sespits of a factory that will have sealed the crap by the thinnest and crappest paint that even b&q excs would be worried to force to sell, the sweat of too many low paid, untrained and ill motivated employees bullied by ar*eholes before their being shipped to gullible westerners….sorry it still burns… I have replaced the regulator rectifier and changed the wiring loom. Since changing the loom, the beam light and left indicator light on the dash is on permanently on but the lights and indicators won’t work. Good job and still worth doing even if that didn’t solve your problem…trust me it’s worth it, sounds like if the looms isn’t compromised then the connectors or relays m of the bike or the users control might have problems. The bike starts straight up no problem, just lights now an issue. Any advice would be great! wow your half way there! Sorry if this sounds off but like many others that drop in here, it’s the same big ass problems with these bikes that many like others are so problematic that it’s could be just one thing or loads of other little ones that wastes so much of peoples short time on these bikes that seriously test the best to madness to question WHY THE F… other people will probably say it would be easier and better to burn it for the insurance claim and get a old Jap bike, hell even an french/Italian bike would be less hard work…owt else will do.
  17. Collected the bike up after a week for a carb balance (could tell) and valve check , both had moved and needed adjustment but its not a shim type which the next model had so saved a chunk of money-yey for old engines! mot and other sundries, offical Suzuki fuel and air filter while he was at it were £25 + £20. glad said not rush it too so because the next day wouldn’t have been able to. badly sprained the left ankle at the gym, even a week on I’ve still got a bad limp on the left leg. Uncomfortable ride the three rights and straight line route needing to change gear in the 30zone to bring her back home . Oddly it was worse to try and get the side stand down? lol. might try to have a “bimble” about tomorrow (before?) washing the car if I can. perseverance….
  18. Yeah just like the bmw e28,e36,e39 went to make the best car for the reputation, then they make cheap and shite designs for profit in the later generations, just like their bikes. Dont get me wrong there was the odd thing that could have been better but sooo much more was right, god the e36 was just such a sweet spot, Straight six was an joy to the brain and ears…quite and smooth when needed but even an auto box was more than willing to do 11’s and drifts for the lads 4fook sake! .
  19. Another very simple reason to loose that amount of air in that time frame of the valve(s) have a split, crack, pin loose or just not seated properly. Cheap fix if so,
  20. Cooor blimey looking solid and needs nowt great find! even with the greasy smear on the lens . A afternoons worth of good clean (don’t use washing up liquid but a bike specifically one like muck off or car one IF you know it’s a non acidic and contains no salts or owt aggressive. dry, detail and wax. corrosion protection applied to bolts, brackets and other metal surfaces like the front frame etc - xpc clear coat is regarded the best also rubbed lightly on the spokes and rims. silicone spray on the plastics and rubbers(not tyres). Doing that is prevention and ease of use to keep clean next time. Just needs a shine, it will look like it just came out of the factory again, keep on top of it and will still look great in another 18years. owner has even left a top box mount ready for you! Looks more like a givi but could be a shad, all you’d need to do is buy the box which most of the time depending on size of box the cheaper part of these kits. Either way they are brilliant and incredibly useful with little if no real downsides-anybody saying otherwise are fashion hoes still stuck in the pre 2000’s.
  21. I’m surprised they didn’t tax/court in force the fook or prison you if you farted in their country, let alone ride through it.
  22. As long as all the next mots didnt repeat or got worse then the garage and the owner’s were quite sympathetic to its requirements, good start. Then its condition will be next. 5 thou mileage? Its barely run in if looked after.
  23. Ive not looked at anybody’s suggestion but from my experience and knowledge: if your not a knee dragged road maniac (YouTube filler/track day hoe or ex national racer), id avoid the power 5s because its Far too new, very specific and focused (for your new rider? I’ll guess) use case. If you want to stick to Michelin go do any of the road series…more pennies you pay, the better refined in its capabilities. But if this is very new to you tell me what your tyres were before and what you likes and dislikes or nothing to note and might be able to suggest other brands and models… dealers generally are double or service “screw you over” but normal mechanic ain’t too fussed, its still income. if its a Z rating tyre the recommendation is not to repair and definitely not if near the side wall, if your tyre was a lower rated and not near the side wall etc then its up to the person view and their reliability to do it of its ok repair. all damages are unique,so it the tyre and its owner so it’s up to them to use judgement.
