It’s 54nm and it is important! You dont need an expensive version, Halfords own version will do or visit you local autofactor. You’ll need a second socket or spanner to hold the spindle while doing up the nut. you only have 1 nut and spindle to hold the rear axle and nut, its not mega high as the swing is thin box steel and less weight bearing on it at first thought but it’s easy to add the bikes its own weight or more again with a rider and pillion before luggage. where as a car has four or 5 bolts and nuts per wheel plus four wheels all at a higher rate, yes with a lot more starting weight but in relation to weight that could be added to its own amount again it’s actually less likely unless your gonna put squeeze 10 fat people and luggage into it?

Loosen all the bolts first (caliper, pinch, axle) before t trying to take the wheel off. car brakes are set inside the wheel placement and the wheel moves outwards to the side. Bikes brakes are set inline but ventures outside and inside the wheel placement but most tyres (modern and above 125cc) are wider than the wheel so it will be foul of the calipers, Also it’s allows wiggle room for spacers too.

Most trackday organisations have hire bikes most from separate companies and Cost varies. High excess is justifiable and shouldn’t be moaned about, as your own statement says the cost if you binned it (your own bike) beyond a bit of gravel rash would bring tears so they still have a valuable bike to fix and earn money from. levels of cheapest are your own bike but requires brake lever protection and back protection mandatory before you can venture onto track, then hire, buy a track bike, buy a new bike to turn track bike.

Ground is mixed conditioning at varying points- firmish with some packing and very soft (very fine sand). Vid quality isn’t the greatest but tyre tracks doesn’t hint at anything greatly untoward with tyres as they are biting and not ploughing, no major step outs or overly dug ins. maybe I’d say the rear preload too low, the rebound too fast as it’s reacting noticeably later on… checks and changes should o been made with pillion. point at the rider error, weight and after effect of pillion placement of them being moved about from the bike while your doing what your asking the bike At 9,15,23 time stamps. if you have inverty shut the throttle off ( easy to have whisky throttle when surprised, loose and pillion on) when throttle and steering application would have been needed (how much of each varying) you would have reversed what was needed, and vice versa. shut throttle - shortening wheel base, forks compress and weight thrown forward so steering is more prominent turns , lifts rear up which depends on where the weight and angle of the rear wheel is depends on if it actuates or twists the yaw of the bike, then the rear lowers and digs the rear in (helped by pillion) helping it to turn and power forward (bucking bronco), rinse and repeats to the point your slowing down for lack of momentum.

Feel for you experience and knowledge says Safety glasses and cut resistant gloves, Arco, b&m and screwfix sell them cheap. Packs of 5 to 10s for under a £10.

In a hot country guessing The half way house would be to just wear the protective vest/sleeved under layer, and just keep to cruising below 60? just depends on how hot blooded, distance, speeds, weather your doing and how much protection you want.

Bike clubs around Skipton Bradford area?
RideWithStyles replied to AstronautNinja's topic in Yorkshire ride outs and meets
There was some a couple of years ago in the area but most were dealer/bike shop based that ain’t trading anymore. Facebook might be a chance? Id go riding out towards known bike stops and just get talking to people - the oldschool way. Skipton, grassington, patley bridge, risplith, Devils bridge Kendal, settle, hawes, leyburn. Those sort of places. -
Rusting can happen to cbfs which is mostly surface damage and prevention matters is advised (anti corrosion solutions) but for them to be structurally weak takes ALOT of neglect and winters. benellis and other Chinese bikes are like that from the factory which they sealed under the cheap paint, they’re degrading while in their shipping containers so even after 6 months of best summer use from the owner it has already started, set in and not really reversible which shouldn’t be expected with a new bike. most of these cheap bikes suffer with electrical issues which I also had numerous, ground wires of the chassis’s for the ecu and immobiliser. Loom too tight, wires grade too low, connectors poor, clocks and headlight fogging, welds failing within weeks of each other, engine vibration from a design flaw, and many more to give you an idea. Replacing parts is difficult if you even luckly they still make it or have one festering on a substandard shelf somewhere in Yangland, costly and timing to get hold of is months. mid way through finding out the dealer didn’t want/lost the franchise so I had to find another willing benelli dealer to fulfill the many parts claiming on the warranty puts less of a shine on the ownership. just to clarify it was a 2019 benelli leoncino 500, not much has changed for this model even the newer releases bigger ones, also the other ones in their model line up. wifey had a used 2011 Honda cbf125, got it with 3thou on the clock, sold it with over 15thou. Over something like 7years and Only lost £500 on a 13yr old bike because it was the right buyer (help another soul out) and we wanted a quick sale as we didnt have much use for it now so would have lost even less if we were bothered. the benelli was just at the 4year mark, less official mileage but lost over £3500 and was in better/newer looking condition, had new tyres and battery, service yada yada and still lost well over £3500…..could of bought two used cbf125s , plus all their services, insurance and tax for three years with tons of fuel left over with that loss. so yeah my advice with the experience of having many different bikes and reason given is just don’t do it.

Hi and congratulations. You will gain experience if you stay on a 125 over say to rush to a DAS especially if you have no other road experience from say car license. DAS increases costs greatly, But if your circumstances are well aligned DAS in the long term is cheaper and better. Even after you pass you cmdont have to go for the biggest bike possible, if your happy with say a sub 600 and a2 bike you can just stick with that. With a benelli and I’ve had one - no don’t do it!!! A used (even very well used/abused) jap bike or even if your risky type a European model will be better in every way.
-
What sort of upgrade ( what you want to achieve?), which companies where you thinking of?
-
As nick said - most jap or Italian bikes were painted and lacquered, only the very few weren’t and most of them were poorly done. So really that’s not factory finish (polished) unless it’s old nortons or Brough superiors just to name a few.

Agree with JRH, think it would be better to added if not how many times? once at speed initially (the rear tyre let me down) but got it to a stop helped by a unseen bog which stopped the bike instantly at 30mph, then fell over at 0mph- still badly damaged bike. once stationary when I thought the side side was down enough but wasn’t. almost did when forgotten about the disc lock once, never done it again and hopefully never will. Wife had at least two at 5-20mph, boot deep chippings at a junction along the main road when the contactor never bothered to sweep the loose shite ever! the other at the exit of a roundabout with durty diesel slopped every where.

Hi and welcome. Sure it will be great that your at the point of getting a full license.
-
Waste the wasters time by fishing them along with the bait with no intention of sale to them while your actually selling the bike to a real buyer. .
-
Hi and welcome. which area?

When they were and nice looking, i admired them for that many moons ago but in more rev times - dismay. Yes the racing rule book back then was looser to encourage some alternative thinking (and the will to spend huge in R&D) some worked and didn’t but it was always progress and enjoying to watch as there is always a bench mark. To put things into context of the latest and greatest, still poor designs and blow ups happen to this day so some lessons are needed, I won’t name but pretty much every manufacturer has a problem now they are seemingly nearing the ceiling with the current designs. If the eco side of things doesn’t shake it up , it will need pushing to different ideas that the racing regs don’t allow.

250kg so not light, if no lighter than current. chain driven. the ridiculous pillion seat bar a modern sports bike, not exactly pillion inspired plus additional cost and subjective comfort for the pillion. luggage is restricted at best. have you asked how tall they are, short or long legged/armed? Would they be scrunched or is it a stretch to the bars/pegs? do they want to sit really low down with legs forward? do they really want to change from a brand they know very well and happy with? Triumph is good quite trust worthy brand around while I have owned one and happy with it but it’s not for everyone. best fuel economy, efficiency, wear, confidence, cost and other benefits is instant with smaller capacity. .

Very true CL, just a convenient food source. Wow Errm could be true with all if he’s a fish type with tin foil on he’s head or smoked too much crap . i knew a work colleague that thought the moon wasn’t real and goodness know what else as is a gov/world org conspiracy at that point I switched off and nodded my head a what I thought was the right timing . They are very capable just that tv doesn’t show it cos it’s too disturbing or not light hearted educational. Well cats do over birds, frogs and other small poor creatures just for their amusement (why just the head? It wasn’t a zombie beforehand) and obviously utube shows them attacking humans cos they have/are the problem (both parties). Turtles and tortoises chase/harass and nip at cats so thats , also partially bonk peoples shoes . Apes and monkeys will batter the shit out of owt willing and all members join in especially if they think they have the upper hand. Whales will torpedo/smack/play tennis/pin pong with penguins and sea lions etc. young sharks will continually practice on pray. Some fish can be cunning. spiders can be quite savage to flick the kill switch.

Good Morning Good Night and General Chat.
RideWithStyles replied to S-Westerly's topic in General Chat
wifey likes catus, a lot. This one (spikes and hooks) in particular this year has really flowered like mad, (no colour filters just a phone camera) also it has terrible habit of leaning right over to the window so every few weeks I keep having to turn the pot. Then it has the chance to catch the curtain and either snags or pluck it self bold then i get a bollocking for harming/killing the plant . bees seem to like the look of it as they bang on the window but most of the time it’s closed -
Off memory it has a higher content ratio of a/some particular chemical(s), more on the idea it vaporises very quickly and particles it collects can burn a bit better while cleaning with little or no brushing. Brake cleaner isn’t for burning but stays wet a bit longer so at least some scrubbing/rubbing can be done. Easier to find brake cleaner especially nowadays, even Halfords BC is “fair” useful. only a few things give the squeak, pads (some grades can do it m but most normal ones are fine so if they are ill seating this can give harmonics), discs (stuck or loose button/s) and bolts (loose) If it has one Give the holding/hanging pin (that slots through the pad) and spring a clean and inspect for wear or ridges even small ones can effect it with un even wear and being hinged- light sand paper if needed. if another way is to reset its position, while the callipers off for a clean, the pistons are pushed back some what, lightly tighten (hand tight) the bolts and keep applying the brakes to get them into the seating position, then either while the brakes are applied or not (up to you how pedantic you wish) finally torque the bolts up. So back to it- it’s not dangerous yet? Depends on which part is doing it and how bad or the wear too uneven could be. certainly your potentially leaving braking efficiency and a bigger bill to come sooner if it gets ignored for too long. tru tension roller is a good tool especially as it doesn’t need paddock stands or balance- just the side stand works very well for back and front wheel cleaning, chain maintenance and brakes too.

Funny that though they made a generation do that in ww1? I know moles can make a bit of a mess of a garden but generally don’t kill and eat random animals above so it’s ok to Land mine a mole that is a natural beast doing what it’s always done and continue to? Off memory they spend nearly all their time under it so is it effective? I know a work colleague who keeps the bigger problem bird (magpies, jackboots, pigeons etc) numbers down near him so the smaller ones have a chance. Too many jack doors etc near me. Shame you can’t land mine/high voltage/laser/shoot for cats, as bird and other wildlife species are seriously struggling (merely for its own entertainment) with the mass of uncontrollable human made vermin they call a pet . So you can’t leave a dog unattended without some form of potential repercussions but a cat you can just let them wonder where ever? Sounds like very lazy and total lack of responsibility and accountability from an owner…. Plus they just p1ss on and shite every where, dog owner do/should pick it up so should the cat owners, two particular ones tend to use ours and neighbours land/walls/bike covers at every given moment . thats my rant over with. No idea, Midge that’s a matador?

Training for MOD1
RideWithStyles replied to Nicko's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Defo try another school but id be doing a lot a revision and looking up a lot before hand to speed things up. The other thing is your expectation or many you may have? no you shouldnt expect sole attention unless you book and pay for it or lucky on the day which you may or not need? Bikes are very individual as to how they wear (cars are the same) let alone if they get dropped, some are not very evident as to small cap bikes are designed to carry on working as best as possible with a noob at the bars. This is very individual and just ranting on a forum is very one sided unless there is visual documentation to back it up as to what you need. -
But your still just looking at one aspect of what is being asked for - a power aspect which the person isn’t really interested in now - wants to lighten and small down so just going down a cap or two in the same bike this person has been happy with for some long would be the sensible option.
