Front Wheel damaged but not to excess advisory

This is a recent MOT advisory on a bike I've enquired about

Front Wheel damaged but not to excess (5.2.2 © (i))

This is said damage:

 

 

Supposedly been checked by a mechanic who said it's nothing to worry about... But is there anything else you would check?

(nb might not even go and see it yet, it's a bit of a trek and I'm not in a rush anyways, but this is generally good info for the future anyway)

I would be worried about if the wheel was true or not although the damage doesn't look to be too bad

Could just be from a cack handed tyre change

True wasn't definitely one of the things I'd considered - easier to check on a bicycle wheel though plus I have all the tools to fix an out of true bike wheel

I agree, I have the same on one of my wheels where some spud scraped it when changing a tyre.

Looks more like someone has slipped with a tyre lever to me rather than accident damage

My ER5 front wheel has lumps out of it but it's never been mentioned in any MOTs

what bike? it might of originally been a chrome wheel that someones rattle canned black
