Plus I didn't buy the tyre from them ( they made a mess of that last time too.) My local car place won't touch bikes. Are they all like that? I can take the wheel off myself. Where could I take it other than another bike mechanic? I didn't think it was going to be an issue! Quote

No not yet, but the time will come when i will need to I have changed many! without the proper gear its a pain in the arse! Breaking the bead is a nightmare and on tight tyres getting them off is a challenge saying that I can now remove a tyre and fit a new valve and new tyre in around 5 mins But correct tools help Quote

Wish they was all as easy as a hand clamp and a tyre iron! This is what I use except for the bar as that one damages rims and mine doesn't "> Quote

Bianco2564 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 I tried to change the tyres on the scooter a couple of weeks ago, not a hope.Tried breaking the bead with a big vice without success.So stopped wasting time and went to a local car tyre place where they changed both tyres, balance and disposal of the old ones for £30. Mr Fro Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 It's handy to be able to change your own tyres but it can be a right pain in the buttocks - especially breaking the bead and buggering about with levers.I'd look for a tyre specialist (or main dealer of you're feeling flush) if you don't have a good bike place near by. I took a wheel to a car place once and they took a chunk out of it. Quote

Arwen Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 I take my wheels off and drive them and my new tyres around to one of the local,smaller, bike mechanics/garages. They are happy enough to change them over for me. Usually it's around £10-15 per wheel.Worth it for the job taking 30min (including driving) and a coffee rather than me shouting at the stupid thing for hours cause I can't get it to work Quote
