Bianco2564 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Since changing the oil on the Kwak, I've found it goes back into neutral much easier when hot. 1 Quote

When I switched oil on the Bobber from Castrol Power (which is a good oil and recommended by Triumph) to Power Racing the gear change became noticeably lighter. The difference was amazing. 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Had the michelin P6's fitted. Seem pretty good and are now scrubbed in having had a run up to Burford and back. £361 fitted which isn't that bad given the eye-watering price in the first place. Now fettled for a run up to Northumberland as I've a course next week in Shields. 1 Quote

Bianco2564 Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 (edited) RGV passed its MOT today, no advisories. First time I've riden it since 2019, forgot how small the thing is. Ran really well and loving the sound when it hits the power band. Edited April 26, 2023 by Bianco2564 2 Quote
Bianco2564 Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Fuelled up the Ninja last night ready for the Wolds run tomorrow, worked out the fuel consumption and see it had hit 82mpg. Over the last 4 months its averaged 76-79 mpg and the only thing that's changed this week is the engine oil. All the blurb on the can says less friction, more power and mpg etc etc ,but I've always took that with a pinch of salt. Don't want to jump to early conclusions after only one tankful so see how it goes over the next week. 1 Quote
KiwiBob Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Just this minute sold my ER5 and am now bikeless until tomorrow when I pick up my new ride. 3 Quote

Tinkicker Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) Got a bit closer to riding than the norm. Pulled VFR out of shed, started her up, pumped up the tyres and washed all the silicone winter preservative off her. Waiting for engine oil to arrive for a pre season oil change. Starting her up and running her to operating temp regularly over the winter will have diluted the oil quite a bit. Hoping next weekend will be the first ride of the season. Mickly Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 The Ultimate Addons USB socket doesn’t come with a switch and as I didn’t want to hack into the bikes harness, I’ve fitted a separate push button job. 2 Quote
KiwiBob Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Wired up a Zumo satnav to the new bike .. Now when the Mrs phones I'll be able to tell her where I am! 1 2 Quote
Bianco2564 Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Replaced the cracked choke lever on the RGV, luckily its common across a few Suzuki models so fairly easy to pick up. 3 Quote
veracocha Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) Filled the tank with E5 fuel and understanding the difference between E5 and E10. I honestly thought something was wrong with my bike until I refuelled with E5. Never again. Oh, and taking the E10 sticker off the tank! Edited April 30, 2023 by veracocha 1 Quote

It's a good marketing strategy though - save ten percent on a litre of fuel that will take you 90% of the distance with worse performance. 2 Quote

Let us know how that goes, I've switched that facility off on my Zumo. I think the last thing I want is some eejit trying to sell me double glazing. Quote
S-Westerly Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Rode to Northumberland but unfortunately mostly on motorway as I needed to be there ASAP. Quote
Bianco2564 Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 A bit more fettling on the RGV. This rusty screw on the brake fluid reservoir was really bugging me. The screw was seized solid in the captive nut and was just spinning around, couple of minutes with a junior hacksaw soon despatched it. I had a spare reservoir in my spares with a new nut and suitable capscrew. Replaced a tired bit of fuel hose from the tap to the fuel filter. Taxed it, filled it up with super and took it for a spin. 5 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Had a nice ride out to North Wales. Came home via The Tap at Eastham. Parked up, blipped the motion alarm, which sat there quietly until a Harley Davidson fired up and shook the ground so much it set it off. 3 Quote
smallfrowne Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Well, I did end up getting round to putting together my swanky new bike lift. I say I did - I sat back and let the mechanic do it. Then he decided to upgrade the suspension. "The rear looked wallowy, and unplanted under power. What you have here, this shock, it has too much adjustment and it's clearly confusing you, so I've given you the 'bit of wooden decking' treatment. £1200 + VAT, you'll be thanking me when you're up on the top step don't worry." 3 3 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Fitted two new tyres. I did it in the greenhouse so the tyres were nice and warm. It was rather too warm. I need a beer. 3 1 Quote

I need a beer. Well that sounds horrible. Even in the freezing cold I end up a mess after wrangling a tyre on, and they look beastly. At least there's no tubes to nick. I've had a big gap in fitting tyres - could be I'm not really using them very much to wear them out - but I recently fitted a 16" GN125 rear for a Ukrainian kid that's staying with a mate, and it all came flooding back. The emotional rollercoaster of fitting a tyre, reluctance, anger, fear, pain... satisfaction! The Little GN125 is a bit of a nail. Structurally sound but mechanically lacking, I've ended up doing quite a bit of work to it, should have created a thread. I ended up going round to their house last night to show him how to bump start it. A new starter motor has been ordered but he's chuffed he can use it again to get to work. Again, not-today-but-yesterday, I dropped off the suspension for a change of spring rate and valve stack at Donnington and spotted His Lordship's, King of MSV racetrack's transport, complete with personal plate. 2 Quote
