Both bikes had panniers which were narrower than the handlebars so if I can get them through the gap the panniers follow. 1 Quote

Mhm, I’m always a bit afraid when I cut through gaps between cars that turning them in my handlebars might go but panniers will hit something as it’s a bit later in the turn Quote

Fish Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 I wouldn't pay that much when SportsBikeShop has the same bag for £60 less, and you could support the forum in the process. Quote

Joe85 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Ok tmbf - it's summer (just) and Joe85 is on his bike again. I thought i'd done fairly well this year to stay out of trouble, but, alas, trouble has found me. The great and good of tmbf, honest opinions please. Was I at fault? Did I overreact? And why is the driver an absolute w*nker? *context, I was deep into a phone conversation with TUI regarding a refund complaint - they seem to choose the perfect time to call, and, of course, you cannot call them. 1 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Well, you saw him and dodged him - call it a win. Hope you get your refund sorted. 1 Quote
Fish Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 That junction is local to me, and he was in the wrong. But it is quite normal for idiots to do that there though. 1 Quote
Joe85 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 And, it’s not like I’m in his blind spot. It’s pretty spiteful manoeuvre. He’s lucky, to be fair. I had to take that call, otherwise I’d have been pulling over to find a rock or something. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 (edited) Saw that coming from a mile off but obviously you was a bit distracted by your phone call. Clearly he was in the wrong lane (even the camera showed the half worn paint arrows), had no intention to change lane into the correct one prior, nor any indication during or after, nor give fooks about you being there and was prepared to put you off to do it. His very late reply after he couldn’t stand to ignore you any further was merely a fook off your bugging me. Doesnt matter if you could have “chatted” with the ar*ehole to let him know the error he made, you wouldnt get any where with them you might aswell head butted a wall…. had a muppet in a fiesta today. two lanes both go 3/4 around the round about to the start of the motorway. muppet on inside lane while his lane is is pretty much empty (two cars ahead). Outside lane was full including vans, muppet decided he wanted to at the last minute with no indication and force his way into the full lane and prepared to crash into two cars, have an altercation to do it rather just stick to the same lane he travelled for 1/4mile before hand. bonio Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 That is one very funny clip. In fact, it's completely brilliant. The set up is perfect: it starts with the phone call, and the "four days before I was leaving" with the left hand waving in front of the lens, just to make sure that we, the viewer, understand that TUI have screwed you over, and that it shouldn't take this amount of effort on the phone for them to sort you out. But you hardly get that out your mouth before our attention is pulled to the left, where this guy is coming up on your inside, his car slowly growing into the screen. It's an Audi; the casting is spot-on. Immediately the roundabout comes into view. And the left-only lane. At this point we all know exactly how the story is going to pan out, but - you see the dramatic skill - it's right here that you get into the full flow of your argument - we sail along with you on the flood of words, through the amber lights and onto the roundabout knowing for sure what's going to happen and when it's going to happen , but no way would stop it or say, Joe watch out on the left, because if the ending lives up to what we've seen so far, it's going to be good. And sure enough, it doesn't disappoint: first there's a dramatic pause: the bike revs, the talking stops. Suddenly you're having a go at Audiman, but, in the spirit of the best farce, TUI boy thinks you're speaking to him, so now you're have two completely different conversations at once. The genius is that we never hear what either of the others say, so we're left to fill in the gaps with our own words. The finger from Audiman is the climax of the whole piece. It's the bit that tell us he actually knows he was in the wrong all along. Anyway thanks for posting mate. As for your question, the guy was 100% in the wrong, but we all saw what was going to happen ways off. Really hope you got your refund. 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 All the checks and oiled the chain. Turned it on and let it warm up properly to check the oil level. Everything is as it should be ready for Saturday and the ride south. 4 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 cleaned the bike the other day. Went for a mini loop (my short circuit term of the area i ride on- not literally MC term) , changed few settings (plus the annoying thing of being inbetween settings) and half wishing of having a different configuration of bike…but Enjoyed having the ride with some less traffic (clueless boxfookx) things needing lookin at like carb balance, valve check, mot due sept and a few other things… noticed mileage is half at best than usual (previous years) even with pushing the boundaries of using the bike at current times. 1 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Changed the brake fluids on the Explorer and found me exhaust hanging orf I have a little welder in the cellar, but I think I'll leave this one for the garage. 1 1 Quote
Bianco2564 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Started putting the RGV back together. Found there is too much clearance between the new shock mount and the bush for the lower pivot, maybe the reason it cracked in the first place. Found some suitable shims on eBay to tighten it all up. Got the swing arm back in and fitted the rear hugger. 5 Quote
Stu Posted September 1, 2024 Author Posted September 1, 2024 Gave it a right good wash yesterday Only to go out and get caught in loads of rain meaning I had to wash it again Bled the brakes too Wales on Friday for the weekend 5 Quote

Tinkicker Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Renewed the VFR insurance for another 12 months, due at the beginning of October. £90 fully comp with free breakdown cover. Can't grumble. Sometimes being an old git riding an old bike has its advantages... A late edit... Even if that old bike is very capable of 150 mph.... Don't tell the insurers. Does anyone know why manufacturers install these huge usually ugly things on otherwise decent looking bikes? Quote
Ian Frog Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 I have a suspicion it's to aid the passing if emission regs. But you are right most modern exhausts are fookin ugly and usually huge. Cheers Ian 1 Quote
