Moonraker Posted October 28, 2020 Share Posted October 28, 2020 Howdy,So, I have always wanted to own a pickup truck, not because I own a company or business, but just that I want one for personal use.I've been shopping around online to get some ideas - nothing flashy - just after something reliable. However I'm getting a bit mixed up with the road tax costs. Information online hasn't been the clearest and I keep getting different numbers.From people who know or have one of the below, what's the road tax cost for one of these for personal use:Ford Ranger (2004 - 2006)Nissan Navara (2003 - 2006)Mitsibishi L200 (2003 - 2006)Isuzu Rodeo (2005 - 2008)Mazda B2500 (2006 - 2008) thanks! Bianco2564 Posted October 28, 2020 Share Posted October 28, 2020 I'd go for a Toyota Hilux.My Dad had one from new in 1993 and it was so reliable, never touched the engine apart from servicing in 150k miles.Still on the same clutch when he sold it 2 years ago.I know its only fun but check out the Top Gear show trying to crash, burn, crush and drown a Hilux and it still started and drove. I did look at parkers, it was explained well there but even the responses in this thread show the difference in information, all be it not a big difference so thats reassuring. I have seen that episode, its great, although I don't intend to do that much damage to it I think that sort of stuff helps with the pricing! Got a bit fed up not being able to sling things into the back from the front seat or vice versa getting out usually in the rain to retrieve stuff. Went back to a van in the end. Nice n waterproof. But I still don’t regret owning one, probably would have kept it a lot longer if my other half hadn’t wrapped it around a post.
