Just for Fun.......I'm contemplating what next. So, I've been reflecting on my biking needs. What do I want from a bike and which one would suit me. I know I will have to do some test riding soon enough. I think I have had enough of adventure style bikes, but I still want to tour Europe. I have a short list below however, after saying all that, I like the HATAS. Why do you have the bike you have.

1. KTM 890R - Is it too much of an Hooligan machine.

2. Ducati 950s Supersport - Am I too old.

3. BMW R1250RS. The Sensible Option

4. Kawasaki S1000SX - Good choice but.......

5. Honda Africa Twin AS, back to adventure bikes.

Ill keep searching in the meantime.

Im biased with the Africa twin love it does everything I need and more the electronic suspension is v good too. Bmw rs is a lovely looking bike and solid what about the Suzuki gsxs1000gt too?

I like the Africa twin as I like the high seating position of it and the nearly 25l tank means less refuelling. I can get over 60mpg flexible engine sounds good when giving it some beans the 21" front wheel causes no issues on the tarmac still manoeuvrable enough for me. Nice to have the android auto, people moan about the controls saying too many buttons. You soon get used to them and nosy you don't need on the fly.

I have looked at the Suzuki, and although it is a great looking bike, the short service intervals put me off. I think its recommended 3750mls between services. I will take another look and add it to the list.

KTM is around 9K and the Ducati is 7.5k. I know I will probably change the oil and filter every 3K anyway. 🤔

It's snowing here now!  The M54 is already closed eastbound due to an accident (the way I go to work)

We got rain enough to hit the ground and freeze, it had started melting but meant to freeze tonight.

I get the feeling Monday morning might be interesting.  Lots of black ice.

That's almost Chinese service intervals I didn't realise they were that short on the gsx it would put me off too

It's so clearly obvious what you need - a MV Agusta TV :classic_laugh:.

It's definitely not an adv bike, it a sports tourer with the emphasis on squarely on sports, but still enough of what makes touring comfortable: comfy seat, panniers, cruise, decent screen, easy ergos. Hey, at least go and try one out.

Good afternoon!

Unexpected happenings today. Just finishing work for the day, and was pulled into a meeting for the upper management. CEO did a talk, mostly about moving to a hydrogen future, and then they started announcing awards for stand out staff. Covers all employees in the UK and Europe, so was surprised to see a co-worker in the runners up section for one category, and even more surprised when I outright won the next one. Apparently I'm intuitive and pragmatic, with an eye for finding better ways... Not sure who thinks that or why they voted for me, but I won't dissuade them from their delusions

On a brighter note, only 9 days until the days start getting longer again... I don't like the dark.

Interesting article on wild camping on Dartmoor. Seems a wealthy landowner who has holiday  lets there doesn't want people camping for free!

Yes seems locals are supporting the camping too I'm sure it adds to the local economy shops etc. Says it all when you see he's a Hedge fund boss and runs a load of holiday lets looks like he wants to basically own and run the area.

Don`t suppose anyone has any swing with Air France or Heathrow ?

Just spent the whole day being lied to about the whereabouts of our luggage.

Landed back at "Thiefrow" on Saturday evening and although the AF app showed our baggage on board it wasn`t!

Been informed that the airport delivery contractor was finally notified of the arrival of our bags this morning (Monday) I have been personally reassured 3 times by the carriers that they would contact their driver for a delivery time, Now we have received and email from DHL to say that they are going to deliver tomorrow and we can`t change delivery details till the bags are in their posession.

You have no idea how flaming irate I currently am.

Cheers

Reminds me of the old airline advert:

To which some wag appended:

They're all in it together. Medical Expert or Medical expense in the process.

So off I went to see a Medical Expert today. All arranged by my Solicitor. It took longer to fill out the shitty pro forma questionnaire that I had already filled out on line, than it did to have the medical. The form had no reference for motorcycle collisions, only making reference for cars. The expert was only interested in ensuring he got my signature and it was dated. After I challenged him about the process and what happens next (bear in mind he is acting and answers to the courts) he said he has a special position in court because he is only entitled to give evidence on their opinions. He just said I have a shoulder ligament injury and I am required to see a specialist for further checks. I am already having physio terrorism on my shoulder, now this!, how much is this costing your insurance. No wonder premiums are going up. As in many cases, I will be the one worse off, even though I have legal protection, you can bet everyone else gets a butty out of my claim and I end up with the crumbs. 😂

A bike you would buy with your heart I guess, pretty well specced nice brembo stoppers, I think it looks best in the white the basic model comes in. I bought with my head with the Honda 😂

Rode into a snowstorm on the M1 this morning on the way to work. Not good when snow covers your visor at 70ish
