Hi guys, I hope you’re all keeping well?! I know you’re probably all sick of me by now but I’m curious...

Put simply when I ride the 650 I get nods from loads of people however if I’m on the 125 I don’t seem to get any... it’s making me feel inferior

Am I being a snowflake or is this actually a thing?

 

It's not personal......for some It's a problem with multi-tasking.....riding a bike and nodding at the same time takes too much mental capacity for them. When I were a lad (things all looked so much better in sepia) we used to wave at each other.....taking a hand off the bars on 1970's motorcycles was an act of extreme bravery, so it was more a gesture of defiance....

Genuinely curious to get others bikers answers as to why. I’ll assume the ones who have moaned about me asking are the same ones that don’t nod!

I personally think it’s rude when they stare at you, you nod to them and nothing. If you don’t want to interact that’s fine but there’s no need to stare!

I’ve genuinely noticed a difference and if you ask me it’s a my dicks bigger than yours complex.

The rudeness on here has actually proved my point! Such a shame as most of you are a nice bunch. If my post is boring or you’ve read it all before or you don’t like what I have to say then don’t comment, don’t be rude!

 

I wouldn't worry about it, I switch between my R1 and silverwing scooter for work depending on the weather and predictably get a different response. Adventure bike riders, KTM,GS seem to be the worst , SOA types on their Harleys vary , if they are a HA or Wildhogs, sports bikes and street bikes are the most likely to acknowIedge no matter what bike im on. I even nod at small scooter riders as we all had to start somewhere but often find they don't respond, put that down to they are not expecting it and you pass, the moments gone.

As regards rudeness, this forum IMO is quite light hearted joshing, the sort you get from mates, if it gets out of line the mods do step in. I'm on another forum for my car and the words said on there sometimes between long term members can be quite harsh and said with some venom, the mods on there just seem to let it go. They have banned any talk of covid, politics & religion as they can't hold a civil conversation without it descending into a mass arguement, I only join in with threads relating to factual things about the cars.

Just keep doing what you like waving at other bikes, if they don't reciprocate its their loss and you are the bigger person, you never know we might cross paths one day and someone on a blue R1 or sh1tty Honda scooter will wave at you.
