dynax Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 roll on for the second attempt, did okay but I knew it would be a fail today, got 2 majors foot down on the fig 8 and not quite fast enough on the avoidance exercise 48 kph. No problem though I know what to expect now and which areas I need to work on, anyway that's done now so let's talk fishing 6 Quote
husoi Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Not wanting to be pedantic, however the metric unit you would be using is km/h Common problem in low speed control is that, myself included, we often forget to move the body outwards the bend to allow the bike to lean further. 1 Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I almost went into my first mod1 knowing I was going to fail. I know some people (me included) will say that's a great way of making it come true, but on that specific day I just felt crap on the bike as soon as I sat on it. We can all have days like that. For me I just decided to make a beeline directly for a cone in the slalom. The best people have a practice first 2 Quote

The best people have a practice first I should have changed the time really, originally I had it for 2.30pm then it got cancelled and they sent out a new date and at 8.30 in the morning, so I was up 5.45am. Next time I will make sure it's an afternoon slot Quote

It gives me time to have a good breakfast then go for a ride without having to wait around all day and having it play on my mind. Which bike did you take it on? ..I would think your CG would be best for slow stuff. Edited April 27, 2021 by KiwiBob Quote

With me it stems from my free time when I was looking after Andrea, plus I don't have breakfast so when I got there I was pretty peckish Plus if I don't have a good night I can usually get my head down for a couple of hours beforehand, anyway it's done now I always accepted that I would probably fail so no great loss but an invaluable lesson as to where my weaknesses are I did it on Xena, I did think about taking the CG which I probably should have done, but I spend more time on Xena and feel more comfortable on her than the CG. James in Brum Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I was thinking about the CG being easier for some of that stuff. onwards and upwards old chap! Quote
Bender Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Onwards and upwards, or forwards in a squggly line Good luck with next one, get yourself practicing Quote
dynax Posted April 27, 2021 Author Posted April 27, 2021 2 hours ago, James in Brum said: I was thinking about the CG being easier for some of that stuff. onwards and upwards old chap! The main issue is the power, the CG is only 10 horses, as you know there isn't much distance from the corner to the avoidance cones, so a you come out of the corner you have to really give it some to get up to speed, more powerful bike not a problem you have the power there to do it, smaller bike literally slightly less than a quarter of the power. Which was the main reason a went on Xena just a couple of extra horses, but also heavier so probably no that much in it regarding doing the cones. I will see how things pan out for me financially over the coming months and may have to consider doing it on a school bike and do the full A, that way at least I know I will hit the speed required Quote
James in Brum Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Did you really dislike the big bike when you did a lesson or two? Quote

The main put off was the riding position, it was really uncomfortable, even the CG's riding position is uncomfortable to a degree which is why I don't use it so much. Quote

Spongefinger Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 (edited) Sorry to hear that...I failed my first one. Hit first cone on slalom and foot down on u turn. Good thing is I knew what to expect when I went back felt much more focused on getting the job done than worrying about what it was going to be like. As for slow control I found keeping my knees tight to the tank may me feel less like putting a foot down. And if you think you are going to go over release that clutch a millimetre !
